I don't get why people are having their reverb posts fail? Mine is 4 years old now, no service yet and no major issues. A little air has leaked by the ifp causing it to sag by a couple of mm but that's a pretty easy fix. That said there are a lot of reputedly very reliable droppers out there now.

Middleburn did do a narrow wride direct mount ring, but if they were to have shut up shop entirely, the chances of them being manufactured by many other companies is slim. That said, I have a wolftooth middleburn spline ring at the moment
-
As long as they produce spline mount narrow ride chainwheels, I'm happy

An engineering company in Newcastle Under Lyme that make a whole range of bits and pieces, they bought Goldtec ages ago. Generally well engineered bits and pieces so suits Middleburn

BETD have bought middleburn

Reuben has progressed from the balance bike to an isla knoc 16 but as children have a habit of is growing like a weed and the isla is now too small. The upshot is that Persephone has a good line of amazing bikes to work with
-
Sweet, tis what we're getting Reuben for christmas. He's about an inch into the growth already but with a longer stem on there should last him a good while, got a 90mm Ø25.4 thompson he can use Once he's got his legs sorted for going up hills we'll be up the chase!

So they caught up with you after that incident with turning the submarines oxygen off? What sort of awesome job you looking for?
-
Aye, the mech /floor clearance can't get any worse than when the cage is at 6 o'clock. Is that a frog 52 or 55?
-
I'm afraid not, it was Run'n'Ride in Lichfield Well when you have an excited 6/7 year old there in the shop with you there has to be some sort of santa interaction

Screw a TL : DR for wheel building, I taught myself how to lace wheels age 16. I was helping my dad install some load banks at the labs for MEM and whilst on the M6 up to manchester I had an old 48 spoke bmx rim, hub, second hand spokes (mostly the wrong length) and nipples (mostly rounded) in the footwell of the car. It took a few attempts but by the time we had driven from the very bottom of staffordshire to rochdale I had a laced wheel that was almost straight and round Built all of my own wheels since, several of my mates and whilst they might not be within 0.5mm tolerance in all directions they're pretty damn straight and strong. I've since upgraded to park spoke keys but still use a ziptie on the forks

We just ordered Reuben a frog 55 in the team sky colours, he's outgrown his old islabikes 16" and the bike shop is going to send the new one to Santa to get ready for Christmas Orienting the spokes around the valve hole is easy. Starting from the valve hole, lace up one direction of spokes on one side only and twist the hub the right direction to get an obtuse angle by the valve hole. Then starting on the spoke across the valve hole, lace a spoke in the opposite direction and hub side; complete that side counting the nipple holes and you will have a spoke either side of the valve with the correct orientation. Now a good wheel builder will get the hub logo aligned with the valve hole

I picked up one of the aldi lamps above, is really bright, small and mounts perfectly to my helmet just above the visor. It's more of a floodlight than a focused beam so not sure if it will project far enough for trail riding but as a second headlamp it should be pretty good

Had an under 7s tag rugby festival this morning, first time out as a club squad and the lads did really well with some awesome running, passing, team support and trys. This coaching lark is really rewarding! I also learned today that refereeing a rugby game without a whistle or stopwatch is pretty hard

A lot of tig is about control of the arc, striking current and ramp up / tail off. Add onto that the purging pre-gas and residual shielding after arc shut off and it can get complicated. Of course you can manually control the gas and amperage but it's much easier if it's partially automated at least.
-
You don't need to be skilled to tig, get your gas right and as long as you can feed the filler rod then you're laughing. It's a lovely calm experience compared to the calamity and noise of mig. I've only used my dads old inverter tig set which frankly lacks any real control over the arc and have produced some reasonably good welds with minimal practise. It's the only welding I've done so can't claim to be building on past experience. The mig coded welder at work said that my tig attempts were just as good as any that he's done. If you get the chance, try it, you might be surprised at how easy it is
-
All this talk of mig, where's the tig love?

Nope, still not very likeable! <3

I'll elaborate futher.... Jacki (ex) and I had been together for more than 4 years when we split up, at the time Jacki was working part time in the pet shop in town that Charotte (wife) was managing and the rest of the time babysitting for Charlottes youngest (Reuben my step son, now 7) so she could manage the shop. Charlotte sold me my first snake christmas 2008 or there abouts so we'd known each other for years before the big mix up. Lee (Jacki's now fiance) lived down in london during the mix up and I have known him as long as I've known Jacki (mid 2008 I think) and after Jacki and I split she went back down there to stop with some other mutual friends. At the same time, both Jacki and I went and did the same thing and got together with recently broken up partners, known and friends with both; no one was dumped for anyone else, it just sort of happened. At no point in the years that Jacki and I were together did I have any feelings towards Charlotte. Romcom in a f**king nutshell Whichever path you choose, good luck! If you feel that you know what to change to make it work and that you're able to do so then go for it, however don't bury your head and pull the plug sooner rather than later if the relationship isn't mutally beneficial, it will save more unnecessary pain
-
Too damn right! Only the once though, I got a goodun

Unfortunately it sounds as though it just isn't meant to be and the right path is now being taken before it spirals further. You've both discussed it recently and in a way it is an inevitability but the routine and habit are hiding the facts. Sit down with her, finalise the break up with definitely no option of a second chance, cry together, cuddle, hug, be adult, be friends and keep the relationship in a different guise. The fact she is offering a second chance and that you think of her so highly as a person would indicate to me that you both have feelings for each other, just not the lasting relationship ones. The exact same happened to me just after new years 2012, after 4 years together she pointed out the brutal truth that we just weren't as compatible as we thought and hadn't been truely happy together. Cue the above, there was no acrimony, just adult conversation and get on with it; yes the hollowness was there but the good memories remained because we parted on mutual terms. As it turned out, within 3 weeks I had shacked up with her mate (who had that week ended a 6 year relationship with the kids dad and is now my wife of two very happy years) and she shacked up with a mutual friend of both of ours (who coincidentally that week had just ended it with is girlfriend) and is getting married in december. Jacki (the ex) was Charlotte's (the wife) maid of honour and Lee (Jacki's fiance) was my best man - basically we played wifeswap four years ago and it turned out awesome for everyone! Not saying that this will happen to you but don't stay in an unhappy relationship when you can have a happy friendship. TL : DR you got friendzoned, embrace it, it might be the best thing that happened to you

I'm going to hazard a guess that you're talking about the plastic shimming that sits between the top of the strut / underside top mount and the spring; it will allow the spring to slide and twist on the mountings whilst reducing suspension noise. As they compress, coil springs both expand in diameter and twist along their length, if there is additional friction at the ends of the spring then it could affect the action of the spring. Whether or not this is noticeable in your application I couldn't say
