  1. Is it a turboed engine? I've had a boost pipe pop off on my old leon TDi and well as you can imagine sold all power, massive black clouds; although it wouldn't explain why power came back.
  2. That's fair enough Nick and i apologise for Jardo bashing, i would still say that the majority of the time it's your own fault if you don't give enough space. But that's the thing, if everyone did it and gave enough room then there wouldn't be half the issues. Insurance is a pretty bent industry, thankfully I've got to the age where it's not too bad. Beemer is in need of a damn good clean and a polish, few dents and scratches to sort. But for the money it's all good, bit of a change from the CTR!
  3. That's fair enough but the insurance/police and generally my view is you should be giving them and yourself enough of a gap that if they do throw on the anchors you have time to stop. Or did you learn nothing in your driving lessons? I'm not condoning people throwing on the anchors for insurance jobs, but if a child ran out in front of a car and had to slam on the anchors to stop and you were too close behind them to stop in time, you could shunt the car and flatten the kid. An extreme situation, but a possibility.
  4. Ended up getting a 2001 520i SE Estate. Needs a small dent pulling but other wise is in pretty good nick, only done a verified 62.5k and I paid £1200 for it; which I thought was pretty good. Picking it up Wednesday
  5. May have just returned to the German side and bought myself a bimmer.....
  6. Something cheap, practical and reliable. Something like a Civic VTI aerodeck, Passat etc being a sensible old git now.... deposit for a house is taking priority.
  7. Civic is gone i'm now car less and the hunt begins....
  8. Unless the law has changed in the last few months you can transfer a plate from any car or put it on retention even if it doesn't have an MOT.
  9. You would definitely get more if you split it. I'm afraid half the bits just aren't really what's wanted by riders
  10. Ah sheeeeeeeeeite, that doesn't look too promising at all. Nick's all ok though right?
  11. Was joking mate I'm shifting mine now.
  12. Get rid of the half link, you shouldn't need to run one.
  13. I'm sure you're aware you'll have to inform the DVLA too?
  14. Also things weigh a shed ton less and are built for purpose, i.e. they're trials specific. Made in small numbers for a small customer base in a small specialist sport. If everyone was still running downhill parts, their bikes would last a whole lot longer, but we'd still be running bikes with seats, they'd weigh twice as much and the sport wouldn't have progressed any where near as far as it has. Things back then weren't all that rosy either, things still broke! And i wouldn't say the riders were asking as much from their parts when they did break.
  15. Combination of reviews (all seem to be pretty glowing and positive) that it got, materials it's made from (completely Reynolds steel) so it's reasonably light but really strong and the geo; It's perfect for forks between 120-160mm of travel depending on how you want to ride it. It rides really really nicely going up and down, only reason I'm changing is I've got given a full sus frame.
  16. If you ride natural I wouldn't bother, for street they're awesome, light and very bouncy/springy.
  17. My Schwalbe Fat Albert on the rear is pretty damn poor on anything but street. If you're riding rocks it's rubbish, very light and bouncy but really not impressed with the grip at all. They aren't cheap either.
  18. I've got a prototype Stanton Slackline that i'm running Fox 36's on. I'll be selling it in the next week or so. One of these: http://www.stantonbikes.com/content/slackline-853-available-now in 16.5 and in cherry red, it's identical just has no stickers. Bloody lovely frame just going back to a full-sus bike.
  19. If it's on white Rays Volks that's my mate Ricky's, work with him. It's ridiculously low! If you're getting a DC2 get an import with the rectangular lights.
  20. Was bloody awesome. Nice chilled vibe with some big controlled riding. Need to see more of John.
  21. Was going to say, the graphics are pretty understated and simple, whilst the chrome is pretty intense. Think it breaks it up nicely. Saw James Davies's genesis bike last weekend and it looks awesome!
  22. I would say the most popular stem I've seen on 24" trials bikes is 150 x 30 Tryall/Rockman stem, but with lower bars than yours. However that's just personal preference. You're only 3" shorter than me and I a TryAll stem, TryAll carbon bars with only a 10mm stacker; so a fairly low set up. It certainly works for me and I'm only 1.75m. Try Different bar angles and spacers under the stem, it might just be you getting used to a new frame and new geometry.
  23. Awesome, well I'm up for some riding/ filming whenever. HD Pearson good or bad thing you decide
