  1. Seriously, what the f**k? Imagine if he was a trials rider, all he'd need is black Magura pads and about 6 brake boosters to keep the frame intact.
  2. These coilovers came as a replacement for the separate spring + damper setup. They were supposed to arrive in June 2013. Hope they've converted the spring rates properly, I hate seeing "Racing" written on springs which are meant for rally. Racing could mean they're linear, no? This in conjunction with different camber arms should allow for big drops for smooth comps and 610 as opposed to 650 tyres. Still need to do the VANOS, install a CF roof, plastic doors and hopefully the car will be ready for the upcoming season.
  3. Even if he doesn't make a recovery and you never know with strong willed people like him, he'll definitely be involved in many handicapped cycling sports and the next video we see from him I hope will be something like this: I can see him using the velodrome as a way to recover or get to grips with everything but I can't see him not moving to something more extreme.
  4. Came in here to post that and I'm not backing down just because someone beat me to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNCoaKE4S7M
  5. Well dear, I've been riding trials for quite some time now. Recently I changed my gear ratio from 18:16 to 18:15 which meant I had a slack chain and had to make a chain tensioner out of a spoke. You know, the thing which makes a wheel. I bent the spoke so it would tension the chain but cut myself in the process. I then went out and found my run up distances have changed quite significantly so it was really difficult to do taps. Incidentally, I used to be able to backwheel like 4 feet this way but now I'm struggling with 3, partly because I'm constantly aware that the spoke might slip off the chain and cause me to lose drive and OTB. -- Well dear, it's all down to the tyres. I've tried various compounds, some didn't require heating up but would overheat during the run. FF004 seems to be a fairly versatile compound during the summer so long as you're run is shorter than 4 miles. Getting 30C of heat into them beforehand resulted in 70C after a 4 mile run which sounds a bit dodgy, I know. My friend says the operating temperature for this compound is 60C+ but I don't believe him, and I'm sure you don't either. The rubber feels far too soft. Blah blah blah....
  6. Yeah, generally mentioning things you're interested in or do as a hobby is worth it so long as you don't go into much detail. Could backfire if you do...
  7. Very pretty car. Are you the one with a ~300bhp Lotus 7 lookalike? If so I'd be rather interested to hear your opinion on the Merc, anyone who drives a mental car like that must know what they're talking about
  8. This isn't usually something I'm happy about but a bit of cold weather can be fun. Also replaced a temporary GTX 275 card with my GTX 660 which I got rid of for troubleshooting. Video encoding is now at least 15 times quicker. Amazing
  9. Echo will provide your dealer with whatever quantity of spare axles he asks for (and pays for). So perhaps that's something worth suggesting. These parts are available but only if you ask about them, Echo don't officially sell these.
  10. Really excited about this years' BMW Challenge. A friend is preparing 6 identical lightweight 328is's for the Sprint class so him and his buddies are going to have an absolute blast competing against each other. I love his approach which is leave the engine stock but get the car as light as possible, buy proper Reiger or AST suspension and a proper motorsport diff. My class which is Open will have 3-4 new drivers one of whom is amazingly fast. My last run of the season when I was fighting for the championship (and lost by 0.23s) was nearly suicidal and he finished only 1 second behind me in a rented car. Now he's bought that car, converted half the body panels to kevlar reinforced CF and installed much better suspension. I honestly can't wait for the first round. I usually just drive ahead not trying too hard but the 2014 season is going to be properly tough. This means one of two things - I'll become a much quicker driver or crash the car Hope it's the former.
  11. I wonder what this is like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMfcIG4rA38 The quiet chamber amplifies even the slightest noise, making people accurately aware of anything, including the sound of their heart beating. In fact, the sensation is so intense -- including the possibility of hallucinations -- that no one has been able to stay in the room longer than 45 minutes, according to the Deccan Chronicle.
  12. I'm amazed that some people must have looked at that and thought "yes, I want to sell these and deal with the fallout!"
  13. Me. The frame dropouts look different to the ones narrowbars posted. I'm a bit baffled by this myself, would like to see some pics too. The CS seems to be between ~364 and 370.
  14. Ditto, been following that and my Karbon fork and Pure SL frame are like 3 years old now. It's amazing how much riding can negatively influence the durability of parts.
  15. Sorry for posting yet another video but this is even better than that little Subaru http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcjpXbMiCtg
  16. This is an absolute must see. 4x4 Justy converted to RWD. I bet this guy is having an absolute blast. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7KKxhyHM_o
  17. Tyres or tubes? If it's tyres then that's rather an unlucky turn of events
  18. Stability would be a matter of working on the strut geometry, unless you mean downforce then a splitter would be the better option + a flat belly.
  19. GF is getting her braces off soon and I've grown quite fond of how she looks with them. Too much so actually
  20. I've had this discussion with my dad too and he's totally with me. He would obviously, considering he's been driving the same MGA for over 40 years now. I'd say go for the MR2. The most fun cars I've driven were from the late 80's to mid 90's (albeit the S2000 which was more modern). This even includes the silly Daihatsu Charade which I bought for like 300 quid. It just feels way better than anything modern of that type despite being a seemingly uneventful 4 wheel drive town car.
  21. Well having lived with the M5 for a day now I can say that it's an impressive car but I don't like it. I absolutely hate the fly by wire throttle, it feels like you're playing a computer game. I like to be able to feel the texture of the throttle cable if that makes sense, instead the accelerator has absolutely no feel whatsoever. I can't get the seat as low as I'd like it and that's not usually something I have problems with being rather short. It's weird that in the past few months I've driven all sorts of super saloons and sports cars the motoring press rave on about and not once did I actually enjoy myself. None of them feel mechanical. A few months ago I was told by my cousin who drives an XKR-S that my M3 is the best car he's driven in his life (and he's had a shit load of M's, Maseratis, TVR's, Bentleys, you name it). I thought he was joking, being kind or just silly. I was told similar things over the past year or so by friends who drive 911s, R8s, M6s and similar vehicles. I'm starting to believe them. Owning that car has made my standards ridiculously high.
  22. Rear looks a bit like an LFA. Like how it looks from the side, not too keen on the other angles.
