  1. Be careful if you do, I'd only recommend a small dose to get your biological clock "straightend out" if nothing else helps. Forcing yourself to get up really early for a few days in a row could do the trick too.
  2. You have normal young kids who are only interested in computer games and running around the playground and then there's this chap. Hats off to him.
  3. I have similar problems on and off. Here are my observations and tips: The later you go to bed, the more difficult it is to fall asleep. Go to bed at midnight. If you find it impossible to fall asleep, take half a sleeping pill, be sure to set your alarm clock to 8/9am. Repeat this for 2-3 days until you're able to fall asleep at midnight without any pills. Not sure what your occupation is but if you don't need to get up early and finish up sleeping till noon, make sure you start getting up in the morning. Usually this does it for me, not only do I get a proper nights' sleep but feel very well rested in the morning. And the day seems to last forever when you're up early. Also no tea, coke or other fizzy beverages in the evening. I recently had an annoying virus infection which totally f**ked up my sleep for about 3-4 weeks. I found it very difficult to fall asleep and very difficult to sleep despite trying to go to bed as early as possible. What I found helped a lot in getting some rem sleep was: - No computer or TV 2 hours before going to bed - Cold bedroom and tidy bed (tidy room would be even better) - Relaxing bath - Reading a book in bed
  4. This topic really is mighty oldschool, almost like googling something that's no longer around. No links work, no pictures work and there's very little information I've always wondered what this coat is exactly and still don't know. Plazmatic made some rather interesting stuff in the past like special trials-specific rotors and disc brake pads. Although for some reason I always thought that Plazmatic was Tim's venture, not something from Oz.
  5. Yes, this is totally the most appropriate thread to ask about this.
  6. Don't go too deep into the wall with the front wheel. Keep your body weight on the bars and the front wheel and maintain momentum - that's the most important bit. You can't be too stiff else you'll loose all the momentum the moment you hit the wall. Also another thing to bare in mind is the trajectory with which you hit the wall, you need to go fast and slam the bike into the wall fairly flat with the body as high as possible in relation to the bike. Hope that makes sense.
  7. Will they? 1st off he's a guy so you're not going to get a boner, secondly I don't think anyone on here apart from Tomm has proper medical training?
  8. Since my dad was always heavily involved with making documentaries, I've got my whole early life on film including first attempts at riding a bike. Took my first steps at Wimbledon Park, one of my strongest memories is not knowing how to use brakes or get off the bike once going. Basically I'd keep my feet on the pedals until I crashed into something or went so slowly that I lost balance and toppled over. As of today, I've got that part pretty much dialled. This was my first proper bike, I was almost 6 years old then: It was red, no idea what brand. The 28" bike we still have and I occasionally use it.
  9. What's really mental is that he's clearly progressing with every vid he releases.
  10. Pretty much, unless you've gone mental with sand paper and now the piston is completely loose inside the cylinder.
  11. Echo have been working on getting the geometry more suited to people of normal height rather than dwarfs. I think they must have received complaints from dealers about the stem/frame combination because new Echo's come with a 170+ stem. Which is all the more surprising when you notice that the Lynx apparently comes with a 150mm stem As for bars they are almost certainly the same geometry as old SL's. Somehow they look different on pics than in the flesh.
  12. Why post crap like this in the trials videos section? You might as well have put it in the for sale forum.
  13. The other way round. Water first, brake dragging second. There's no point in chucking water onto a hot rotor, it'll just evaporate straight away. The whole idea is to keep it cool and and wet all the time. You'll get the best cutting effect when the rotor is semi-dry so don't keep flushing it. edit: to put it short - 1 run would be about 100 yards. - 2-3 runs on a very wet rotor (lots of water, flush dirt) - 3-4 runs on a semi-dry rotor (little water) - 1 long run starting with very wet rotor, finish when dry
  14. I didn't know brake pad rubber can absorb oil.
  15. Exactly. Short reach is good when the wheelbase is short, long wheelbase + short reach = not too nice IMO.
  16. One criticism - he's riding interesting obstacles, clearly doing lines but the editing makes it look like TGS. One move per clip with a clip lasting no more than a few seconds. Otherwise a great rider.
  17. I hope the bb comes in a box heavier than 40g otherwise it'll just fly away.
  18. LGM's, thin disc and I have no idea what a harsh/medium or light grind is. I just grind my rim until it's got a rough surface.
  19. I used to own a Triton, they are absolutely amazing frames and ride like nothing else out there, even an equivalent with the same geometry. I sold it on and have been trying to buy it back for the last 2 years without any luck. Good luck with that bike
  20. My experience exactly. Had Yellows on my bike and the front pads just stopped working after a few rides (sounds like the same problem Ben is having) and the rear ones were never any good. I spent quite a lot of time fiddling with grinds, brake setup etc. to make them work but to no avail. On the other hand I managed to set up LGMs in such a way that they lock the wheel with no effort at all.
  21. Perhaps I wasn't specific enough, meant working out as in trying to gain some strength rather than just stay in shape. General workout does help a lot, last winter I worked out regularily (MA classes) and that made a huge difference in getting back into riding when spring came. Me and a few of my riding friends are thinking about doing some strength gaining in the winter, we've all got our techinque pretty much dialled but we fall out on power compared to the new generation TGS crowd.
  22. Probably the best place to ask this. Have those of you who worked out through the winter noticed an improvement in your riding?
  23. Just a comfortable practical and economical daily driver. All my other desires are roughly within my reach.
  24. That's some properly slow progress there Perhaps your girlfriend is shaving you while you're sleeping?
  25. You could try having dinner with Revolver and JD? God only knows what would happen, perhaps the table would implode or you three would turn into a singularity. For me it'd probably be Dalai Lama and James May.
