  1. Yes, you don't have to buy anything insane though; this topeak one is quite primitive but for the sake of a tenner you know your less likely to have any drama or damage. thats what i use for my tt carbons and i've had no drama from them don't forget to grease your bolts properly prior to torquing everything up cause that will affect things too.
  2. christmas shopping is done and wrapped, cards are all sent, blagged 40 quid of free flowers and i'm almost through the heaviest night of the year.
  3. take up heroin instead and then polish my frame
  4. BB5s have a single piece 'body' whereas the bb7s have a two peice body to allow for the extra mechanism which lets you adjust both pads in/out. the 5s are allegedly a little bit stiffer as a result. performance is awesome on either model but i found the small pads on bb5s don't like large holed rotors like the hope trials ones.
  5. bb5s or 7s are great provided you get a decent cable and lever and take the time to set them up properly. i've used both on various wheel sizes and set ups over the year, i had a 200mm bb7 on the rear of a 26 and it was awesome

    The Angry Thread.

i'm on nights still; i've had two hours of sleep today and we're getting absolutely raped by black friday stuff (i'm royal mail fodder). also jj leigh has blocked me and my life is now lacking in hashtags and petty bullshit
  7. First and only time I'm gonna win a trials competition! thanks
  8. it's pretty much full body once you've learnt a full range of moves, puts alot of strain on your calves and forearms. i remember talking to a guy who ended up with a spinal issue from trials because it isn't a balanced exercise; one leg will always remain forward and this may affect your muscular imbalance. the other issue is the time it takes to learn trials; you should want to ride trials for the sake of trials, more than for the sake of fitness, the learning curve is pretty steep compared to the rewards. (in my experience) it's taken me a few years to be at a point where i can go out and ride for a solid stint of time knacker myself and feel worked out. i've found rowing is a better tool for a balanced full body workout.
  9. i've seen a pair go at the steerer which were also not particularly old. if strength if your main focus trial tech sports are probably your safest bet.
  10. wilkos do it; it's with the drain unblocking chemicals... you can get stuff re-anodised quite cheaply too if you don't want raw parts afterwards.

if you dismantle your bike it becomes luggage and they can't do anything about it. can even take your bike on the tube or during forbidden commuter times in london if it's in bits like this:
  12. just get a roady/tourer and make a better route with some climbs? or if your not going that far run the geo and stance a trials bike puts you in is not the one. i used to ride a fixie into town and trail my trials bike with me because it was easier going than trialsing in..
  13. you don't want a conventional freehub for trials; they don't like the way you'll end up stamping on the drivetrain... hope pro2 or chris king is what you want. that XD only stamp means you can only run a giant cassette which is excessive and unnecessary, plus your choice of rims will be limited. just look at getting an inspired instead of some bastardised MTB it'll work out cheaper and more efficient to learn with cause it's intended for purpose, you totally can ride trials on a normal MTB in the same way you could ride a road bike down a downhill track but it doesn't mean your gonna enjoy yourself or progress as well as you'd imagine.
  14. this week i did a presentation for the east region directors about how postmen feel. i'm not a fan of feelings or presentations but i'm relatively smug about not f**king it up. also i'm on my way to scuttling a professional dancer.
  15. are viz still going? most of the stuff i see is old stock...
  16. finished my project at work, got some ot and some toil for it. i've spent most of my shift in the office winner
  17. get it anodized, you've gone to alot of effort and expense to drop the weight, why not go all the way? also get your tyres cut down! my part worn and reduced tread creepy crawler was almost as light as a brand new OBR rear tyre. and i never felt that the maxxis under performed for the lack of tread
  18. if i had the space and resources i would want: an obtuse triangle with different sized corners to practice accuracy stuff a big slanty tall thing to hook, something with a rail and then any way that i could attach those to stacks of pallets and have a modular set up. the standard cotton reels and railway sleepers would also be worth having too
  19. i'm in no rush to sell it but i figured i'd put it out there, what does the 4 have over the 3+?
  20. wouldn't be interested in a hero 3+? i'm just not using mine...
  21. hey i'm after some new spherical washers; like what avid calipers and vee brakes use to allow them to be aligned properly. i'm struggling to search for them properly; can you buy them aftermarket or do i just need to cannibalize vee pads when i want new ones?
  22. going to leeds fest for freeeee (again)
  23. got round to sorting out my eno; turns out all the pawls and bits i thought i'd lost were all just chilling in the outer ring so it's cost me f**k all to get it running again
  24. can't you do a click and collect to your nearest evans and get a few sizes to try out
  25. its a little trickier as your weight has to be nicely central, whereas if your balancing uphill it needs to be forward and it's easier to find the sweet spot between your body and the chain tension. when your balancing on the flat you end up needing to lock up the front end and 'rocking' the bike around a little to balance, with time you can really reduce the amount of movement you need so you end up stationary. trashzen explains it way better
