  1. trialtech or jitsie pads, trials specific rotor could help but tbf the shimano rotors are usually quite good.
  2. wrong forum, we're push trials.

    The Angry Thread.

in trouble for kicking off at the complaints team at work (i emailed their managers and asked what circus they employed their clowns from) absolute shitstorm inbound
  4. only had one pair of pedals fail on me in 12 years of bashing; and they were wanky magnesium alloy ones. i'd probably give any pedal three years before getting paranoid.
  5. Depends on the freehub/freewheel it comes with, if it has a shitty freehub it'll be a pain in the arse to upgrade to a reliable standard (new wheel build and an expensive freehub or freewheel) will easily run you a hundred quid + if it has a bog standard freewheel your not so screwed cause fitting a new one is much cheaper and easier.
  6. be nice to have weigh in from the tarts on this, whats selling more, pure trials machines or new street bikes?

    Ebikes?

I had a go on one a few summers ago and was very impressed; could see the appeal of getting girlfriends or children out on big rides or on epics that would be out of their normal range of fitness/power. wouldn't buy one myself yet. I'd definitely consider one when the electrics could be swapped about between an mtb or a roady. quite excited for decent electric roadies for commuting and such.
  8. those forks and that spacing look fine, really nice upgrade over the standard forks. the jitsie freewheels are quite stiff that is normal. could you show a top down picture of the crank/freewheel, there should be a very fine spacer between the freewheel and crank/bashring don't let the freewheel sit so wide that it touches the bottom bracket. take your cranks off and check that the bottom bracket is tight to be sure your not damaging anything. there is some flex to zoots so it could just be that.
  9. doing job interviews today, had a guy come in with a provisional license (all roles are driving), no cv, wearing jeans and converses. not sure how HR decided he was worth sending but I am amused. didn't get to dress him down for showing up looking like a bum. reading this back makes me feel very uncool happier news work is more bearable and I've scored some fpv goggles on the cheap, decided to get back into rc and it's so mega now everything is modern and fancy
  10. 51.405309, -0.298182 theres a spot somewhere around here too
  11. 51.394921, -0.304522 rocks on the water front start here 51.398956, -0.309801 decent walls and bits for gaps, about bar height.. 51.403435, -0.307870 come up to here and then carry heading on in this direction and theres a few more bits to play on continue on the water front this way till the walkway stops, carry on and theres a park with some walls and bits
  12. do they have the lever on each side? I imagine they'd be nice for free-er moving rotors but I'd probably stick with bb7s cause I know how epic and reliable they are. guineapig yourself for us
  13. very large backpack... come out for a ride on them if you like (I've got one of each but I think I'd keep the 26 over the 20"
  14. mod or stock? debating selling one and I'm in London (Chingford) you can take a bike on the underground if you dismantle it and fit in on a backpack, I do so with a 26 and 20 and it's only a problem during rush hour...

    The Angry Thread.

i have a cold tf is dying, i don't ride much anymore, rowing isn't entertaining me, i'm fed up of driving 2-3 hours a day to work (30 miles each way) stuck in this untill march. blergh
  16. https://steveukmtb.wordpress.com/hope-caliper-overhaul-minitrialsm4v2m6/ they're all the same brakes inside. only differences are aesthetic and some degree of extra tech on the lever blades...
  17. any hope servicing guide will work, the only difference between the trials and xc brakes is the size of the pistons to acheive different ratios, so long as you find a guide with a similar lever you should be able to work everything else out easily enough. just make sure you order the right consumable parts so you can re-build it.
  18. contact hope; when i went to the factory they had some spare 190mm rotors they made for some koxx dual disc 26 back in the day and they just gave me one. well worth asking, they're sound like that.
  19. service them, get new seals and lubricate those badboys check the piston (i think thats what it's called; bit that actually moves the pad) for any damage or burs.
  20. had the same pair of hope trials for 6 years, serviced them 2ce in that time and they're still working just fine so i wouldn't worry unless you just wanna burn money... call tarty and ask for some guidance or go try and ride them at an event or a big group ride.
  21. bmx won't have many trialsy benefits to learning on other than you will be able to bash it. the geometry and weight will be all wrong, you'll spend a fortune on getting the brakes okay and a bashplate to protect your front end but it'll be a pig to learn with and wont necessarily translate to riding a trials bike well. £250 for a trials frame is about right (google says 36k jpy is about 250) can you got get a cheap complete on ali express? my cartography is shit but you shouldn't fair to badly on postage in japan from them...
  22. weekend rides aren't easy for me (i work saturdays and row on sundays) but i can usually sneak in an evening. whats your name to find you on facebook?
  23. definitely helps to have a trials bike; stiffer, better braking and a drivetrain thats designed to handle the kind of love that trials dishes out. worth pointing out there are two styles of geometry for trials bikes now; 'pure' competition seatless geos (long wheelbase, high bottom bracket) and streety geos (shorter lower bb) the 'pure' geometries are quite extreme compared to an MTB, they feel 'wierd' on two wheels and for bunny hops etc but come into a world of their own for proper trials moves and techniques. the streety bikes will feel like an mtb or bmx and will feel more stable as a result but won't be as easy to do proper hoppy trials on. yes you can do both on both bikes but your progress will be hindered if you don't make the right choices...
