  1. I thought it was that twat from Good Charlotte?
  2. Not at all. But each situation is different - you got addicted through a medical issue, where as Dave choices drugs purely as a lifestyle choice. I say that on the grounds that I don't believe anyone uses drugs to deal with events in their lives instantly - if they do choose it, the drug issue is already present to begin with, it just gets worse and worse.
  3. I wasn't aware you suffered with such issues, but on the other hand you don't flount it around the forum at every chance you get. I'm sure at heart Dave is an honest, decent guy who just made a few bad choices, we've all been there...however it seems to me he knows he's identified the bad choices but then just does nothing about it...just my opinion for what its worth.
  4. Thought about growing up and getting a bit of responsibility? You have a kid if memory serves me well, how about packing in the weed and the rest of the drugs and being a good Dad? Might give you the headway and ambition to do something with yourself?
  5. Price of the domain depends on a lot of factors. It's impossible to suggest without knowing it. Prices range from £5 to £millions. Other than that; You have everyone on PAPER and signed to what you're going to purchase. Check to see if the domain is blacklisted - often because of spam viruses on mail servers. Check the previous use of the website. Make sure the domain isn't used by another company - at the end of the day whilst he may lose the domain, he may still have the copyright on the tradename - a headache to sell if its copyrighted by another party. Lastly, you can hold the domain name - you don't have to have a website linked to it Also, check the expiration of the domain! You may well end up paying £500 for a domain that expires in Feb 2011...
  6. No way, weed is completely harmless cd\Desktop\Mike.Skinner\irony_of_it_all.exe format Brain /q
  7. I'm sure there is some irony in there somewhere. I don't know too much about the subject, but surely diagnosing someone with such a condition just confirms any sort of ideas or concerns you had? The internet is a wonderful thing in that conditions like this don't become apparent. On the other hand it could be that spending you time talking to 'strangers' on the internet is holding you back socially and I wouldn't have thought it to be so healthy that you're not interacting with people in the same way. Can I just ask, are you employed? Are you in a job where you're working with people face to face? I used to be quite a shy person, although being in work it just simply isn't an option - if I were unable to bollock someone over the phone, laugh and joke with people, ask questions, give presentations, give opinion and feedback I wouldn't be able to do my job. My job certainly got me out of my 'shell' and now I'm pretty confident and outspoken. I just struggle to understand how someone can go from being your previous self to someone who gets diagnoised with this? Was there an event that triggered it? Are doctors just too quick to judge this and just makes things worse for you? My thinking is that it kind of confirms that something isn't 'right' which makes you feel different and in turn feel isolated.
  8. Gah, call me old fashioned but whats wrong with making music that you think feels and sounds good? You released those tracks, you obviously think it sounds good so why bother trying to make it fit in with whatever genre seems to be the latest fad? Music is for experimenting with...step away from the flock...
  9. Hows a hard drive going to help?
  10. VLC Player? Plays pretty much every format going? Hold on there, we're talking OS or hardware here? Any particular reason he switched back?

    Computer Nerds

No need to touch BIOS, just go to Task Schedule and run a shutdown script at whatever time you require
  12. Bingo. I used to care, I still turn lights off and all that shit - but when I'm at the pearly gates I don't want to be saying "Well, you know what St. Peter, I turned that f**king light off in the kitchen when I wasn't in there, can I come in please?" Lifes too short to be worrying about a problem we probably won't see in our lifetime.
  13. Uninstall, reinstall. I don't use MSN personally, but isn't there supposed to be some issue with the Windows clock not being right?
  14. Mate, I have like...a shed full of Castrol GTX. Talk to someone who cares.
  15. It could be that your computer (0.2) is requesting access to the router - the router knows your address is local and then permits it as required. UPnP logs can be common when using P2P applications so it could just be that. My inital concern is your email sending out spam, which could mean that you have an unrequired port open and your computer is basically being controlled by another system - which can occur from malware operating though UPnP. Sooo, its a bit of an awkward one; may be harmless and could just be the computer registering with the router - or it could even be another system spoofing the IP of your computer and opening ports. 1. Can you post up some more of the log surronding the UPnP issue. 2. Stop any P2P software, don't use it for a day and see what happens - remember to stop it in the services too (Run > services.msc) to prevent it running in the background or at start up (turn it to Manual, not Automatic). 3. After a day without P2P apps, have a look at the logs and see if it stops, if so, there is your problem. If not, it could be something more dodgy 4. In the logs are there any references to DDoS attacks?
  16. This could be Steam that is causing this - however the risk is high if you're reporting that your Hotmail account is sending out Spam. Firstly, change your password to hotmail, internet banking and any other important accounts. UPnP is good, however its only ever as secure as the client, so if you're running some dodgy application, malware, it can open ports and lead on all sorts of nasty things. My advice, as a precaution, would be to disable UPnP on the router, change all passwords, full malware scan of your system using muliple tools and scanners. Turning off UPnP may mean that any P2P applications or Steam may not work - however I'd rather have a safer network then those two If you feel safe enough you could turn on UPnP again, however I'd recommend Port Triggering or forwarding if the network has been compromised by a rogue application

    Tv License People

Off topic, but did anyone actually watch that shite in the picture above?

    Tv License People

Technically yes, but it'll cost them a damn site more than £145.00 to find out you're doing it

    Tv License People

Read this The TV Licensing Agency is nothing more than a pressure group, whereby everyone who doesn't have a TV license is harrassed and otherwise assumed guilty of a crime that is completely unenforcable. Fortunately most people would bin these, but I could help but think if my gran opened a letter threatening court for a crime she hadnt committed she'd simply pay up. Thats how these bastards win....

COMPUTERZ NOZ WHERE YO' AT, BOY!
  21. Stupid question - but is the LAN card definately intergrated or it is seperate on a card? The reason I ask is that usually the LAN is enabled by default unless of course it doesn't have one. Seems strange that you can't enable it though if the above is the case...in which case I would recommend just reinstalling the motherboard drivers firstly; go to the Gigabyte website, search your motherboard and download the drivers for the Ethernet Controller - install and see if that sorts it, if not, post back.
  22. Oh Chirst, is it the 90's again!?
  23. I've seen this a few times with Windows 7 - particuarly with Firefox not opening. Worth going to Ctrl + Alt + Del, Processes and end any of the firefox.exe processes - once cleared, firefox will open again when you click the icon. Seems a little odd that it only seems to occur with internet applications which seems to me like it could even be an anti-virus or firewall issue within Windows 7. Also, is this by any chance a HP laptop?
  24. Firstly, have you tried just pulling the power to the router for a couple of minutes - it's really not unusual for them to freak out every so often. Usually a reset cures any issue you'll be having. Firewall is unlikely - especially which such a drop. A firewall will just check and confirm/reject both inbound and outbound packets, however the likelihood of you noticing such a drop is doubtful, particularly if you've not actually reconfigured anything. Lastly, it could just be a technical issue with your ISP In which case it might be worth giving them a call and asking them to check your line.
