  1. Awesome weekend and I hope I entertained with some badly misjudged riding which eventually meant I had to retire on Sunday. Fortunately I'm feeling a bit less bruised today and can still move. Congrats to all who rode better than I did and comiserations to Matt. A big thanks to Tim for his entertainment value at the end of the day - guess you'll be back to a short bike for a bit unless Pashley speed up. Thanks to all the organisers and observers and apologies for scaring some of you - I might stick to blue next time (not that it really made much difference). Any chance of a working tap next time? I never did find one that had running water. Jamie
  2. I do agree with Matt and others with regards to the rules situation. I'm 26 and ride a stock but haven't ridden in a comp for 7ish years (probably a bit more) and am only just reasonable at natural and hence would and WILL be riding blue route. As a result my rides won't count for anything but hopefully it'll be fun. Why not just scrap the age rule? Or am I looking at this too simplistically? Can't people just use their judgement of which route to ride? Or am I hoping that people have too much common sense - i.e. if you are doing too well in blue, you move up? Still lokking forward to the comp though. Jamie
  3. 203 as I'm 14 stone. Much better than my 185 used to be - especially on rocks.
  4. Fair play, nice clean design and nice geo. Not sure it'll take the stresses from that disc for that long but enjoy it while it does.
  5. Technique does help a lot (see above). For street, a decent brake for gaps and stuff but not for flowy stuff. For natural, you don't always need a good brake (like when going up stuff) but I find it does inspire confidence especially if gapping/dropping and it does help a lot on sloping rocks - like most of the ones round Swansea are. Although if you can ride without a good brake it does help especially when it rains.
  6. Sorry, Hook Woods it is. Dan should be out though as he's working.
  7. Nice vid and good riding and good to see farm equipment used properly. I'm sure your dog'll get you one day. Jamie
  8. Is there a hole for a grub screw to allow bleeding below the Heno on the pistons - looks to be something. Looks like a good set up if it works although I hope it is easy to adjust the length of the splitter hoses to suit different frames (like using magura style olives - although it looks like it'll be braded which should be better). Jamie
  9. Directions are on the entry forms. May be going with a couple of others as well.
  10. Well me and Dan were planning on it but now I'm as gutted as Dave. Soooo close to going to my first comp in years and it was so close to Swansea. Please do another one in south/mid Wales - the rest of the comps are so just too far away.
  11. Unfortunatly no idea although I saw a couple at Koxx Days and they do look lovely. Can't seem to find any info on them (that I can understand) either. They seem to be a bit of a bargain at £170 as well.
  12. Maybe 5 mins to open someones eyes to trials has to be worth it - unless they're really drunk.
  13. Ah, but if you drill a 36 hole rim it has more holes but has 4 more spokes and nipples. (May also depend upon the diamater of hole you can fit between the spokes). Also, having extra spoke holes to start with, it should start out as a lighter rim. (And the hub has 4 more holes). No, I'm not going to go and weigh stuff but Tarty can probably tell you.
  14. It does make sense and allows people to run what they want and allows for the flanges on the hub to be further apart which should give a stronger wheel (unless you do what Giacomo did at Koxx days).
  15. Don't think so, Dave Kerr stapped his in much the same way and I don't think his was stripped. (Did get a new one half price but it'll probably go again soon as the down tube is already dented). Good effort with the photos Mike.
  16. Good effort Dave and fair play Joe, nice one on 2nd. What happened to Chai's result? I'm suprised Benito only got 8 considering in one section he ended up on his back sliding down the hill.
  17. I don't think he'd have noticed if you had knocked him out - he didn't know where he was. Awesome trip, I'm back in work now and would much rather be there even if it is raining. Fair play to Chai and Dave for riding the comp - Chai with useless tyres and Dave with bald tyres. Might try and plan to not sleep in a lorry park for 4 hours before riding Paris next year. Cool to meet some new people.
  18. I think Andrei was top 20 but I couldn't see the results for elite and expert. Joe and Scott did expert along with Dave and Chai - Did Danny Butler ride? And fair play Chai for nearly falling off a very slippery rock and apologies for laughing sooo much and to Dave for doing it on bald tyres and cleaning a couple of sections. Don't we all.
  19. I've got an ancient Boa stem that has plenty of rise and is really short - only 25.4 bars not oversize though.
  20. I did run a magura louise disc with an HS33 lever and it worked fine without fiddling with the tpa too much. I also didn't notice any loss in power. I think if i'd used it for anything other than trials, the tpa issue may have been more of a problem as the fluid heated up. The other thing to be careful of is what oil you bleed it with as HS33s only like mineral oil - not sure about denguras though. Cheers, Jamie
  21. Possibly, if I do I'll see you there. Pyle is a bit closer only not every train stops there.
  22. Sounds like the thread may have stripped in the bolts aren't staying tight.
  23. Awesome - although for true ghetto it should have been a hammer and nails, a drill and screws is too hi-tech
  24. Nice pics. I like the look of riding up that rail........
