  1. Nah don't remember it at all lol. Did you manually set the timings and frequencies?
  2. Sheffield is still grey and boring.
  3. Nope, still slow, put them back. Couldn't you just delete them and make new threads? They're not exactly full of useful info. Tis just a nice place to chill.
  4. You sure about that dude? How did you reach that conclusion? RAM takes a tiny (really tiny) amount of watts/voltage to run. I'd bet substantial money on it just being incompatible or a dodgy stick.
  5. Thought you meant that max that would physically fit in there. My bad. Why would he ever need more than 8gb? I'm running 8gb in my desktop and doubt I'll ever need more. Chances are if he fits 8gb, it'll be enough until it's time to upgrade the laptop, by which time DDR4 may be out, and he won't be able to transfer the upgrade across. 8gb is still a 100% increase over stock...
  6. Not that cheap really JD, or simple. The max RAM in 2 slots in a laptop is 2x8gb, for a total of 16gb, however only certain memory controllers actually support 8gb modules. There are several that only support 4gb ones. Plus 2x8gb is around £70, which isn't really very cheap. (Considering 2x4gb costs round £30).
  7. Stick to matching RAM where possible. As long as the RAM timings and frequency match they will work, but it's so much easier to just get matching RAM. I speak from experience! (I'm running mismatching RAM now, getting it to run smoothly is a nightmare). I'd recommend getting a single 8gb module and selling the 4gb one, as you will then have double the RAM already but if needed, you should be able to go to 16gb without much hassle. If you can't be bothered selling the 4gb module on though, just get another 4gb module. The likelyhood of you needing over 8gb in a laptop is pretty small I'd imagine. Yep, that's true. Also, any DDR3 only runs at 1333mhz maximum natively. If you buy 1600mhz, 1866mhz or higher, it will run at 1333mhz unless you set it higher yourself, because anything over 1333mhz on DDR3 is officially an overclock. (There are a couple of exceptions, some modern RAM controllers will auto-overclock to higher speeds). I swear by Crucial RAM personally, but other big-name manufacturers are usually fine. If you want this to be easy, just buy another matching 4gb module. Your laptop is fairly modern I believe (didn't you buy it recently?), so you should be able to find a matching module without too much hassle.
  8. My road helmet does it if I let my hair grow too long, so distracting when you're trying to concentrate on the road.
  9. If you can fit anything other than a thin balaclava in there, it doesn't fit. 30 mins is actually a long time to be wearing a helmet for IMO, it needs to be comfortable dude or it'll drive you crazy. (I speak from personal experience). Go to a shop, try them on, trust me it'll be worth spending £50-60 on a better one.
  10. Doesn't make it any more comfortable. Any helmet under £75 is "cheap" IMO and won't be much good really, but if it's just for go-karting it should be alright. Depends how long you need to wear it for at any one time.
  11. Mole grips, vice, pull 'ard.
  12. Seeing as you can't master capital letters and full stops, do you really feel you can talk about writing correctly? Also, cutting knobbles saves a lot of weight, and increases grip on the edges of things, and takes virtually no effort. It's by far the fastest and easiest weight saving technique I ever found.
  13. Last winter was tame here IMO. We had 2 days when I walked to work in snow and it was 3" deep max, and when I was winter climbing up in Scotland it was pretty shit conditions really. There was a tiny amount of ice up there, far less than most years. Winter before that was heavy, we had a foot of snow (a whole foot) even in the centre of Sheffield, which always stays several degrees warmer than the surrounding places.
  14. I never really used them. You only need "enough" protein, and you can get 200g a day fairly easily if you eat a rigid, controlled diet. They're great for supplementing a decent diet, but they're not a replacement for one.

  16. You need the system reserved partition for W7 to run properly. Are you willing to wipe it completely? Could just delete all the partitions, create one main one (it'll do the 100mb system one for you) and reinstall?
  17. I put together something similar in 2009 that cost me £140, without any TI stuff...

    Sleeping Problems

You can adapt to 4 hours a night, but I've read studies that suggest that if you go below 6 hours, your chances of heart disease increase massively.

    Sleeping Problems

I have lots of sleep trouble, but these things made a big difference for me: Excercise. Can be as simple as walking to work or something. I try to spend at least half an hour a day walking somewhere. Stay in bed. Don't get up and read, don't post on facebook about how you can't sleep, don't even turn the lights on unless you need to go for a piss. Have set sleeping times. You need to sleep for about 8 hours, and you always need about half an hour to fall asleep, so try to allow 8.5 hours in bed. Drink lots of water. How much changes depending on your activity during the day, but I tend to find 1.5l minimum. Reduce sugar intake. Sugar is bad. Reduce caffeine intake. If I want a really good nights sleep, I avoid all sugar and caffeine during the day and that night I can't keep my eyes open. Keep your bedroom as tidy as you can. Personally I won't have electronic stuff in my bedroom apart from my phone. No telly or anything, then there are fewer distractions to watch telly or go on the internet if the tools aren't there. Tidying the bedroom generally seems to also help calm my mind down before getting in bed.
  20. I got older, settled down and became genuinely happy with my life. Mhmm...
  21. I was on Orange, never again. Disgraceful customer service and the 3G never worked, even in the centre of Sheffield. Now on O2 and everything is better.
  22. Oh, oh the irony. It's sickening.
  23. The only would let me do a Web order... Slightly peeved as I want it ASAP. Used them anyway because they were about £1 cheaper than the IJT people ZeroMatt mentioned. Cheers guys! Guess I'll just have to see how it lasts now.
