  1. Right guys it's dilemma time, now I've got my hands on some cash I've not had to earn I can afford my new stock frame but I'm stuck on which to buy. I'm caught between the born or neon X-ray, I'm a bit of a geo virgin having only ridden 2 proper trials frames (06 control and zenith) which were virtually the same so I can't say which of the above will be better for me. I plan on trying to enter the full british champs next year (only on blue though!) so needs to be suitable for that but do I spend £400 and get a 2011 born, £50 less for the 2010 without a built in booster or £250 on a X-ray and get some other new bits as well?? Anyone already ride any of these and can advise me on how they feel??
  2. Regain my stone of lost muscle Make a push for a top 5 spot in british champs (only on blue route though!) Pay money off credit cards Get out on a lads weekend at least once this year Catch up with my old friends more
  3. Processor should cut it but you may want to up the ram a little
  4. Don't forget though that if you want to edit HD footage you need a pretty decent computer with a fast processor, or a mac!
  5. If you have a search I've put up a couple of vids filmed with my older one and I think ogre has one as well. EDIT: Here's ogre's vid he made with it http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/151687-gainsborough-teaser-9ft-static-gap-inside/page__p__2131647__fromsearch__1#entry2131647
  6. I've got the older model ZX1 and thats great, just don't expect to create amazing stuff as the zoom function (on mine at least) is a bit jerky but if you plan on sticking it on a gorillapod or something it's ideal. HD is great on it as well, really crisp quality but no good when it gets dark unless your in a well lit area.
  7. I'm sure all the connections are the same they just changed the design of the lever and the pistons
  8. Purely your own preference matey, don't let other people tell you what's right, it's about what feels right for yourself!
  9. I'd prefer something like the built in bash on the Inpulse bikes or maybe something along the lines of the new Koxx Sky bash but on a stock.
  10. Bicycle clips, been around for decades! That custom mod you've done on your bike would be superb, just need to sort a decent chain tensioner to work with vertical dropouts that won't get smashed about, something along the lines of the jockey wheels fixed to the frame like on an Ozonys cannibal would be awesome!
  11. I'd be scared of bending them too much though I've never attempted building a wheel yet. When I was grinding my rim I watched Adams vid and he says to kneel on the wheel to hold it steady and I daren't, worried I might knacker the spokes up and buckle my rim. I'm obviously being a bit soft?!
  12. Sent a message a while ago, next time your doing name changes can you swap mine over to Dave Barratt, cheers.

  13. If your riding a stock then stick with a magura on the rear, the front is purely your own preference but if you want modulation go with a disc, otherwise a magura or well setup V will do the job just fine!
  14. The main difference is the HS33 comes with a 2 finger lever and the 11 with a 4 finger, so you'd probably be better off with the 4 finger lever so you can get more power. As for the looks the HS33 has a silver body with black lever and the HS11 a black body with silver lever.
  15. Don't buy the 2011 HS33's, go for the HS11's instead as they are basically the same brake with a few cosmetic differences but with a 4 finger lever instead of 2 finger.
  16. Fixed hub, and the freewheel screws onto the cranks as they are threaded. Don't forget you'll also need a bashring!
  17. Think I remember seeing him once or twice, has been a while though!
  18. Right then, if you want to switch to a front freewheel you'll have to change the rear hub and cranks (I'd also recommend getting a new bottom bracket if you haven't already got an ISIS one) and get a singlespeed chain tensioner (again if you haven't already got one). Personally I'd recommend it as I found it a lot easier to work with than when I ran a freehub. A lot of people will argue that a freehub is better but they're talking about Chris King and Profile hubs which cost hundreds of pounds. If you do decide to go for a FFW setup then yes definately buy the Echo SL, besides if you upgrade you can always carry it across to another frame should you decide to change whereas a Mavic rim may be a bit narrow to run rim brakes on more modern trials frames. Hope this helps you! EDIT: Forgot bout Pro 2's!
  19. What bike are you currently riding? Is it completely standard if brand new? What drivetrain has it got? Could you post some pics of it on here so we can help further?
  20. I'd say the only disadvantage is the fact it's easier to catch it on stuff when your riding but I wouldn't worry too much about it! The best way to check the size of your mount is to fix your caliper to your forks and measure from the axle to roughly where the disc sits on your caliper and times that by 2, not highly scientific but should do the trick. As for the disc I'd go for a standard mono trial disc personally.
  21. It'd probably be easier to ring and speak to them although there is an option for a wheelbuild with your own parts under the workshop section. To be honest it's not going to get built till well into January now and with the weather your hubs gonna take the best part of a week to arrive with them anyways. I'm hanging on till after the new year as I'm doing the same as you.
  22. I agree, it's like people on the new echo and zoo thread saying they're looking forward to the frames and are gonna buy one. No one says owt about those comments.
  23. Foreseeing the future of another doomed TF romance??
  24. I try and go a little faster and really lean back when I pull on the bars ready to spring up.
