  1. this guy does a few different films but these two are the best in my opinion: [media=]
  2. they hold all of the parts together.
  3. Sad news indeed, saw this on the local news. In response to the idea of rules, the highway code does state that cyclists over 12 years old have to ride on the roadway and MUST have lights to ride on the public highway during the hours of darkness and in poor visablity situations (although this is down to the rider's idea of 'poor visability'). Also there is also a section of the highway code which addresses dangerous cycling, it was introduced in the 1980s if I remember correctly, and states that anybody who rides a bicycle in a public area in a way which risks there own or anybody elses life or well-being is liable to being fined up to £100 depending on age and situation of course. This could, if you were to be pedantic include brakeless riders as they surely put there own well-being at risk whenever they ride from A-B, this is something the police used to nab the BMX-ers outside my old school for, which lead to them then running an unconnected rear leaver; just showing that those who want the freedom will try their hardest to get/keep it. Worringly the whole dangerous riding thing could affect anybody that rides street. I for one have been threatened with it on my high street when I was riding one evening by a very angry police woman and I have witnessed my friend being threatened with it for pulling a manual in a nearby town. Wearing a helemet is currently only advisory, and although I agree that it would be a good idea to enforce the wearing of cycle helmets, I think it would be impossible, in practise, to enforce this. Ultimately, there are rules regarding cycling saftey in the Highway Code but the basic fact is that many cyclists do not know them as they have never really been told to us. The advice is there for stuff like wearing a helmet and running working brakes but, as Ali has already said, those who really want to be able to ride how they like to always will find a way to or will just striaght up ignore the rules;for example how many people on this forum ride with a bell? but it is compulsory for adults to have one and for every bike sold in the UK to come equipped with one. In my opinion the only way to cut down rider deaths on the road, of which i have been hearing to many reports of collisions involving motor veichles such as this recently, is for either the police to really focus on the rules for cyclists expressed in the highway code; which could have a detrimental effect on those of us who enjoy riding street; or for more advice to be given to people from childhood upwards, which would make clear the rules and give even more basic advice than people are provided with currently; especially as the roads are likely to see an increase in cyclist traffic in the future due to the extortionate fuel prices that are set to jsut contiune rising.
  4. I know I only used it because it was there as an emoticon thingy. Yeah I learnt my lesson on the ceiling of a multistory carpark
  5. They were designed to have the swizz cheese treatment so were most probably reinforced down either side especially, also they were probably not drilled, they could have been machined via water jet or what have you in this way, which, I'm pretty sure I heard, causes less stress.
  6. to be fair I'm pretty sure that every chainlink is a standard size and every half-link chain link is a standard (all be it shorter) size, so if you buy one standard and one half-link and neither work there would be no point in buying any others because it just wouldn't work.
  7. do you mean change your gearing? if so I would assume so. But I would still be tempted to buy two separate bikes. Plus I don't know how much I'd trust a spoke tensioner for DJ.
  8. Own one myself, and I have looked into this. You should choose the size of sprokets that you want to run, then try to fit the chain; if you're lucky you may be able to get it to fit with no tensioner and no chain slack (just like Sean Watson's is, I believe he runs 16:14 though!). The chances are there will be some chain slack but try to get as little as possible and then get a single spoke and attach it somewhere at the rear of the bike (wrap it around the axle, or through holes in the frame, something like that), make sure you have at least two loops in it for springy-ness and then line it up with the chain. This should apply downward pressure on the chain, preventing slack and acting as a tensioner, whilst keeping the look of the bike clean. This will need changing after a while but not very often, say around the 3-4 month mark, especially if you take the spoke off of the chainline while not using the bike. Although this may seem odd you can see how well it works and looks in this video: [media=] On the subject of riding DJ I have tried it and wouldn't really recommend you do it, at least not regularly. I assume it would be better without rigid forks, but then it wouldn't be as nice for streety / trialsy stuff. Edit: also You can get the tension closer to what is desired by using a half-link chain
  9. pretty sure the one you're looking for was painted on or at least under laquer, so you probably won't find one I'm afraid. You could always mix it up with the stickers you found, I don't think they would look to bad and there's nothing bad about being unique. Alternitively you could get some made from that design, would take a bit of work to get it on a transparent background, or whatever colour is required (or you could just replicate it) If that is what you really want. I know http://stickerdump.com/contact/ can custom make them also check this thread: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/175135-vinyl-cut-stickers/ for some other companys if you need.
  10. ahhh!!! since it went down and came back online the notification dropdown box background has become transparent! it's impossible to read anything due to overlapping text!
  11. agree, too much in the left third at the top going on now!
  12. ^ thats an odd looking BMX! Why do most people on the internet think trials bikes are BMXs it annoys me so much!
  13. would it be possible for you to post a picture of it before it was stolen so it would help me look for it and/or spot it about?
  14. or am I just copying their ideas?!
  15. prefer the old logo but new layout one thing you might not have noticed is on the home page the 'write status' box thing is in the middle of other peoples status'/stati (????). I'm using firefox if that makes any difference or helps at all?
  16. yeah im another kent guy i'll keep an eye out as well, it looks like that gumtree one is probably it. The best thing to do is probably to enquire about it as if you are going to genuinely buy it, ask for pictures e.c.t, get as much info as you can; if you're sure that its your bike then arange to 'buy' it and either arrive with the law or gather a group of local riders and get it back with them.
  17. Put a Nokia 3310 on one end (the one with the speakers, forgot if it's top or bottom) on a flat table, get it to balence and scroll through the ringtones and you will find one which makes the whole phone rotate anti-clockwise. That managed to entertain me and my cousins for a whole day once.
