  1. Cheers Robin, I'm very tempted to use that pressure drop idea as a basis for my 4th year project... It would take a lot of reading though!
  2. Do you know how they went about controlling that pressure drop? I'm struggling to get my head around it, and can't find too much online. Was it possibly the Cosworth GBA 1.5L V6? The pressure must drop to some extent due to the temperature drop when passing through the intercooler. (Thinking out loud) I can't figure out the disadvantage, if there was one, to this system. Argh, SO MANY QUESTIONS
  3. I'm definitely going to read more into that, sounds awesome. How much more efficient will these SABRE engines really be compared to typical current jet engines when attached to a jumbo? Are we looking at as much as 50% more efficient?
  4. Seriously fun video. For me, its the 'having fun' videos that really stand out. Like Clean 24:2011, and now this!
  5. Loving the new Muse album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0CScv6A44c&feature=player_detailpage
  6. Did Highland Bikes only have one conti tyre at the time? Loving the white and black combo.
  7. Same, I don't even have a tv licence. All the stuff I want to see is available on the likes of iplayer anyway.
  8. I'm assuming 156's are more expensive to insure? All I've heard about them is that parts can be fairly expensive, not sure how true that is though.
  9. I don't really understand why the wiper isn't touching the window but it very much sounds like it needs a new motor. Probably cheapest to get one off eBay.
  10. I don't know what kind of wizardry was used in the creation of k-seal but it seems to have filled the gap in my dodgy head gasket. Sweeeet. Jardo: Seems like a good opportunity to take the beemer off the road and turn it into a track weapon.
  11. Tidy, keep it! My car looks best when you can only see this much: (TF stickers are awesome)
  12. Surely there would be some pretty telling symptoms with that problem though? I haven't noticed anything particularly strange. Cheers for the suggestions.
  13. That's a good point. Not tried any products like K-seal yet. I really need to have a closer look, problem is I use the damn thing for work 6 days a week so not got much time. And I'm busy moving house at the moment, argh. JD, I was concerned about that but the oil looks fine.
  14. Yup dry footwells. It must be leaking out somewhere.....
  15. Definitely something wrong with my cooling system, it doesn't hold any water. Needs a few litres every few days. But I can't see any leaks or water on the ground. And despite frequently running very low on water it has never over-heated. Even when I keep on top of filling it with water it doesn't bleed itself, so there's always air in the system too. I have no idea what I'm doing!
  16. I think Avid uses odd sizes, like 165mm rotors, and therefore need the correct avid mounts to suit. Also make sure you're not using a rear mount on the front. Maybe you just need a 165mm rotor?

I understand all that, but I think I'm missing whatever point you're trying to put across there, sorry. I think Pirelli did exactly what was asked of them, which was to make the tyres less predictable/stable. Anyways, I'm not sure where either of us are going with this!
  18. That beats Jeff Lenosky's bunny hop record!

Simps, faster wearing tyres doesn't mean worse tyres, they could infact be better if that's what they wanted. Good point about strategy, I guess it would reduce the variety between pit stop strategies. I don't agree that good reliability makes it less interesting, I think the races are better when everyone is on the track. If it reduces the number of different strategies available to the teams then I'm also against it.

"Ferrari's Luca di Montezemolo says races should be shortened" It would certainly be beneficial in terms of saving costs and resources to have shorter races. This would obviously reduce the amount of tyres and fuel used etc. Taking about a third off the race distance sounds like a good idea to me. Can anyone think of any disadvantages of this? I doubt it will happen any time soon anyway.
  21. I believe some people are born with superior genes which makes them naturally good at certain things. However, I also believe that the majority of champions got to their level through hard work and dedication, and that almost anyone can be great at something if they spend enough time practicing.
  22. That's cool, I'm curious as to how they go about doing that?
  23. Nice. Was it a wet day? Or do they have some means of wetting the track?
  24. Seems to be a sort of extended version of Home by Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros.
