  1. I'm not. I was just wondering whether the big notches are more resistant to damage. Right now I have micro notched snail cams and after only one ride, the micro notches got damaged already, meaning they are flat now.
  2. Are there any advantages for the notched snail cams (e.g. Rockman) over the micro notched ones (e.g. Trialtech)? I imagine that the micro notches get damaged more easily. Having notched screws on my frame, would I even need notched snail cams?
  3. As you can see I've made quite some changes. Echo TR FFW + TryAll Bash + Echo TR rear wheel instead of my Hope Trials/Stiffy setup. I also got rid of the stickers and some of the Maxxis/Schwalbe decals. A little update will come in one week, which will be the final version I think. Weight like shown 9.8kg p.s.: The yellow heatsinks work quite well with a smooth rim (when dry). 4. True, but it comes eventually and doesn't take too much time I think.
  5. That's cool. Been saying that for ages in other contexts as well. Best skewers out there even though they aren't on the lightest side.
  6. Ok. Now I've mounted the wheel with these snail cams and 12Nm* and I'm under the impression that the wheel is moving. When tightening the bolts the chain is tight, after a few pedal kicks it isn't anymore, a thing that hasn't happened with the Hope Trials Hub. Any suggestions? *Did the exact same thing as shown in the video of Tarty. Edit: Never mind. Seems to be the cog and FFW not being 100% round or sth. like it. I put a mark on the frame and the bolt washer didn't move a bit, even though the chain got loose. Still, can anyone recommend serrated bolt washers made of steel? What I noticed though is that the bearings of the new Echo TR hubs aren't what I would call high quality and I was shocked, that there is not even a dust cap or sth. to have at least some protection.
  7. Just build the wheel. I have never had such a true rim. All and I mean ALL! the spokes have the exact same tension and the wheel is true. Wow!
  8. Doesn't matter where you produce, as long as it's tested properly and this is the crux; in Germany at least there has to be some testing done, if not, you won't be allowed to sell anything.
  9. How can they sell that stuff then? Is this an "only in America" thing? In Germany w/o testing things, you wouldn't even sell some toast.
  10. Well, normally you do have a max. spoke tension. These rims get tested before they sell them.
  11. Hahaha. I remember this stage as if it was yesterday. Oh wait, it almost was yesterday. I watched thinkbikes as well until I was told that trashzen.com is way better and it's true. Just have a look at their tutorials. Nico.
  12. I have but made a mistake in writing "HOPE" when I actually meant "Echo". Tried to contact them but never got an answer.
  13. Alright. I'll go for 900 then. In MTB it's drive side to the max. (for the rim, spokes are always stronger) and none-drive side for centering the wheel, whatever the spoke tension, it'll always be lower than drive side. I meant the Echo hub. I'll go for 11Nm then. And I also meant contacting Hope is impossible.
  14. I was referring to the hope M10 bolts. So you're saying that the Echo Bolts should be tightened at arount 10-12 Nm? 900 is pretty low I'd say. I don't have any experience with trials wheels though. Sun Singletrack and Spank Stiffy for ex. have a max of 1100N (manufacturer information). To contact Hope is next to impossible.
  15. That seems low especially for non serrated washers. And this seems too much. Tarty (on here) wrote sth. about 27Nm.
  16. Or a Shimano XT skewer, by far the strongest and as light as the XTRs (which is pretty heavy )
  17. I am about to build a wheel with an Echo TR hub (129mm) which I'll be using with snail cams. I was just wondering to how many Nm the bolts will have to be tightened? As I've used the strong Hope Trials hub bolts until now, I'm a little afraid of stripping the threads of the Echo Hub since the bolts are so small in comparison. Also, does anyone know the max spoke tension for an Echo TR 24'' rim? So far I've build my wheels with a max. of 1100N but as the rim has holes in it, it might have to be lower. I dunno. Any suggestions? Thanks, Nico.

  19. I really have been trying to make sense out of it but I really can't. What do you want to say with this?
  20. I'm really interested in the answers for this one.
  21. Makes sense. Will do that on my 810 as well.
