  1. If there's no need for the (f)ugly tensioner, I'd rather not to. I was just wondering. How do Because design a frame between two ratios? Shouldn't it be either or?
  2. The reason I'm asking is that the snail cams have a smooth surface and the Hope washers don't so it's snail cams holding hub at the cam bolts vs. serrated washers on both sides on the frame.
  3. Will do. Doesn't work as the Magura pads would be over the lower edge of the rim. Are you sure? My previous K710 felt like a rubber band. Also, will I have to run the snail tensioners with those hope bolts? I am a fairly strong rider (not trials, but track bike) and don't want to retighten the bolts every other hour.
  4. 18/14 will put the washer way out or have the chain too short. How do I measure it w/o taking off the crank and stuff? Also, I don't mind running 18/15 (btw. the bike is sold like this on a couple of websites); will I be ok with a lengthened chain or not?
  5. Here are some pictures. It doesn't look too bad but as I said, the clamping washer ist already 1-2mm over the frame and as soon as the chain lengthens, will be standing over way more. This might cause some problems. In the pic it is a 15t cog. Because 1 von niconj auf Flickr Because 2 von niconj auf Flickr Because 3 von niconj auf Flickr
  6. How is that possible? I've got the frame without disc though. Might have a different chain stay length. My dropouts look shorter too. http://www.becausebike.com/Product.php?bid=4&aID=51
  7. Then I would like to know why mine died after only 1/2 year.
  8. Are you serious? Seems too much IMO. I don't do anything except cleaning the chain, truing the wheels every once in a while (and put a new chain on when it's necessary). Funny you should say that. The Hope Pro II Evo Trials I've got has horrible bearings. I rode it six months and they are creaking like hell. I got myself some Skf ones now, these will last longer I'm sure. It's really a shame. A 150€ hub with 50c bearings.
  9. No it doesn't but the chain is new and will lengthen quite a bit, won't it? The K710 I've had before was like a rubber band. I weigh 13.5 stone if that matters.
  10. I've got a half link (this one) but don't know whether it is "trials specific". From what I've read though, half links aren't really good.
  11. Hello, so I've got a new Because Simple Trials frame and with it a new KMC Z610HX chain, which, so I've read, is a very good chain for trials. I run a Trialtech 18T sprocket on the front and a Hope Pro II Evo Trials (the one with the strong bolts) on the back and have two Shimano DX sprockets; 14T and 15T. Now I tried fitting the 14T first but the chain is either too short or way too long (the end caps of my Hope stand over the frame half their diameter). It gets better with the 15T but again, it's either too short or the end caps are just standing over the dropouts, maybe 2mm. So I went on the Because website (which is crap btw) and couldn't find any information for which gear ratio the frame was designed. It couldn't possibly be 18/16 now could it? The problem I have is that I can ride 18/15 w/o any problems but as soon as the KMC chain lengthens*, the end caps will stand over more. Could this be a problem? I also have notched snail cams that are mounted on the outside. Thanks, Nico. *How much does it lengthen on the initial rides?
  12. Singular. Perú = Spanish (Quechua Aymara etc.)

    24" rims

Interesting. Still like the Stiffy more. It's only 89gr. more.

    24" rims

I've got a Spike right here and it doesn't have straight side walls. How do you use it with a rim brake?

    24" rims

I use a stiffy for rim brake. With the spike it isn't possible.
  16. I didn't know that these levers work with disc brakes as well. Does anyone know if it works with a saint caliper or is it just for Hope brakes?
  17. And what do you do once the chain lengthens?
  18. Haven't tried it yet. I just thought that there was a "right" and a "wrong" way to mount the snails and I didn't know which was which. That's why I asked. I have to mount the snails ouside because my Because Simple has 135mm dropouts. I have a Hope Trials hub with the strong bolts. Thant should work.... have to build up the bike still.
  19. But mine already have notches...
  20. What is "the right way"? I've just bought these and didn't quite know, which way to mount them (bolts outside).
  21. It is 100% the same. Just different decals.
  22. The Zee is definitely better than any hope break. I wouldn't recommend the SLX for trials though. The pads are moving to much in the caliper and it doesn't have enough power but then again, it's better than the BB7 and these are what many trials riders use.
