Right, buying a kmc chain didn't help in the slightest. I haven't tried putting the jockey wheel axle into a different hole but i guess it won't hurt to try it. And i bought a fresh products tensioner after seeing so many sprung tensioners just break or be practically useless. Plus its a lot simpler than anything with springs and moving parts.

I've decided that seeing as i don't use my gears anymore i would try out single speed for a while. I bought a new surly 18tooth rear cog and a fresh products tensioner, but the chain length is too long for the tensioner to tension either up or down. Now i know what you're thinking, take a link out, but i have. And it was too short to even fit round both my chainring and the rear sprocket without beeing way too tight, it was so tight i thought it would damage my freehub. I know that putting a half link in is going to still be pointless because it will be too slack for the chain to stay on properly. Plus i would like a big fat half link chain if i was going to go with that option like one of the new bmx chains that are around £23. Now what i would like to know is if there is anything i might be stupidly overlooking or if there are any simple solutions that won't cost a load more money. My chain is a sram pc58 (around 3-4 months old) and my frame is a base TA26, with a truvativ 22 tooth chainring. Will replacing the chain with a kmc kool chain help the situation at all?

I would definately say practicing front taps on curbs is a bad idea . you don't really find them anything other than a bit of a hinderance on things smaller than 2-3feet. I like the fact your another one in the massive group of base riders, we'll soon be taking over the world. I don't really know what kind of style of riding you have to be able to offer the correct kind of suggestions. If your a streety kind of rider like me then riding at a faster than walking pace and pulling the bars really hard will get the front end up enough for you to stay on the back wheel, also with the streety style the basic rule of thumb is the faster you go the earlier you need to hop, which greatly helps in keeping your weight over the back end because you naturally compress more. If your going with the more definitve trials style then try pulling the bars upwards more as you kick the pedals and push your legs forwards onto the wall so the bike goes more horizontal. this should asl help keep you on the back wheel. The best thing for us to be able to help you is for you to take a small video clip of you riding so we can give you the best advice on what can help you, so if you have a digital camera with a movie mode or something use that and then whack it up on tv.isg or something like that. but definately NO MORE FRONT BUMPS ON KURBS!!

I think the koxx frames are really way too high or the general market. But then again is a koxx aimed at the general market? Companies like zoo and echo and onza are most definately aimed at the general market which is clear from the way the majority of people ride them. The majority of people don't want something that won't last very long but is slightly lighter when they can have something thats cheaper and will most likely last longer, especially if it's only used for riding in your local town or occasionally on some nearby rocks. The koxx's are aimed at a more professional level where riders compete a lot and have to have a frame that can handle the competition courses, they're not exactly going to go out and rag a professional level bike round the streets for a bit of a laugh with a couple of mates are they? I think that is why the xtp is priced that high, so the top riders can have a reliable bike that rides well. The most specialist pieces of equipment in anything are more expensive... computer components, tap dancing shoes, cars etc. The average rider isn't going to notice much difference in a frame geometry really either, and a few mm will not hinder or improve on anyones abilities. I know for a fact that a few degrees difference in the headtube of a frame would not be enough for me to notice and it doesn't really take that long for someone to adapt to how a different bike rides, i can pick up a mates bike and be completely weird on it for a couple of minutes but after a little while i can ride it just as well as i can my own unless its completely different like going from a trials frame to a kona or something. I also don't get why people think it's alright for a company to charge more for something because they sponsor riders and support loads of people. Thats one of the stupidist things i've heard for a long time, a company should never charge the customers more for their marketing/publicity campaigns. I'm not really a fan of looking like everyone else either, the whole long low and silver thing really isn't very appealing. Which may be why my shiny red base sticks out from everyone elses zoo's when i go on a big ride. A long low silky blue bike is much more appealing to me, or a bike thats anodised in exactly the same colour as the dairy milk purple off their foil wrappers. anyway thats my opinion on pretty much everything thats been said so far. funy how this hread got so serious from someone asking where a koxx-coustellier frame is available from.

My computer told me that i didn't have enough space in the temporary folder to write a dvd the other day. but if you go in the control panel then in the maintenance bit you can click on "free up space on your hard drive" then choose your main drive. make sure the temporqary files check box is clicked and it should remove all the things that are safe to remove. I think it is safe to just plain delete them from the folder though, but i wouldn't want to say that and have your computer shut down as a result of it.

I've seen the main hub shell of one snap comepletely. I think it may have been todge's but i'm not too sure. I think i will be upgrading my hope xc to one of these bad boys when they are released. I've seen too many kings skip for me to invest in one of those, sure they may look nice but they don't seem reliable enough for me. I think we are never going to get rid of this debate with a single new hub though. There will always be some people who like one type of product and some people who will like another, personal preference. At the end of the day you can't please everybody no matter how hard you try because some people will just not like something. Marmite is a great example of this, you either hate it or you love it. Then again, some people are just too stubborn to admit that their hub might now be inferior or out of fashion because they might not be able to afford the latest and better product, unlike some of the rich kids who just ask mummy and daddy for it and get it the next working day.

Did you even look at the link or even the post that i made? The chain is completely made of half links and HAS A FLAT SIDE FOR GRINDING!! I don't reckon many other chains that don't have half links in them can withstand grinds anyway, i'm sure the sram chain i'm using at the minute wouldn't last a few seconds if i were to grind on it. Edit: If that isn't enough to convince you then in the description of the half link chain it says "provides breaking strength of 1300Kgf". On tartybikes a kmc kool single speed chain (k710) is said to have a "1300kg max. load capacity". You know what that means? it's got the same load bearing strength as a kmc kool chain, which loads of riders use without any problems at all.

Theres so many people on here that don't ride but don't have anything better to do with their time than come on here. They usually only post in chit chat as well. The only way you can truly find out is to go out into the street and see if old women and younger kids would rather cross the road than walk on your side, thats usually a bit of a hint. If that fails go out and ask random people if they think your a chav, nothing beats the general publics opinion. Try and get a mixed selection of peopl as well like old peopl, young kids, older kids, teenagers, 25-40 year olds etc. this will ensure you get a more decisive opinion. Although you may want to take into account the older people are the more likely it is that they won't have a cluie what a chav is anyway.

Well here's a whole chain made out of them, designed for bmx's and has a flat outer side to it to let the rider do grinds without worrying about snapping their chain. link to half link chain Can't be that unsafe then
-
There's pretty much always one on ebay for about £1.99 or less each. As for strength i don't think they are really any different from a normal link, i've seen plenty of them used by bmx'er friends and allthough i've seen lots of these chains snap, its never been where the half link is. I'm planning on using one when i go single speed and i'm quite good at breaking chains and freehubs.

Yeah it is, i was trying to teach him front taps last time we went riding and he nearly got the hang of them so he should be going higher soon. When you do mate you'll go back to this and it'll seem so much easier.
-
yeah they do prefer complete wheels because it gives them some leverage when they go to pop the ratchet out. Give hope a ring and they will ask you to send it off tom them, mine was fixed and back with me 4 days after it had been sent off to them. And the replaced everything apart from the hubshell... for free! top service

bend over legs (quite peculiar they wash ehr legs not the car!) bra (very good indeed!) wheels or tyres (results in violent kick of wheel by one of them) "wingmirror" is indeed the best one i've found so far (great rewards for the naive people who only think about car parts) "rear seat" is quite funny, also same as for "f**k yourselves" and finally "numberplate" to let you know what their really like EDIT: "wet t-shirt" try it you know u want to. "blow job" "finger" they dont like "c.u.n.t" (without the full stops)

mine works absolutely fine, i havn't had a problem with it yet!

the sony one was too much for something that doesn't really seem to stand out from the others. mine looks nicer too.

I just bought a philips dtrsa 200/05 freeview set top box today from argos. I on;y just saw now after i read andy's post about reviews that my model can be very prblematic. There's loads of people saying theres has broken within two hours and ususlally freezes within 25 minutes use. Well i plugged it into my tv downstairs with the main roof aerial and got about 30 channels through on it (including the radio channels). It was missing the biggy's like e4 and itv2, hell the thing didn't even pick up itv1 or channel 4. Slightly dissapointed and convinced i was going to be taking it back tomorro, i trudged upstairs to my room and for some reason thought it would be a good idea to try it on my indoor aerial with the tv in my room. Shit me was it better! I now have around 80 channels including the five normal channels and e4 and itv 1 through to itv4 . Not only is it picking up more channels but they are also geting a better signal than they were downstairs as well even the normal channels of one to five are insanely better . I like the menu's because it seems very easy to use, and it has a 7 day electronic program guide so it shows me whats on and when. I also have not had any issues with it freezing or losing sound like some people have said they got and its been on for around 5 hours now with no problems, there was a little flicker earlier but that is quite common with digital tv anyway.. my mates sky box does it quite a bit. The thing i have found though is it gets quite warm, i suppose its due to the fact its re-encoding all the data so your tv understands it. I also think this is the reason why mine has had no problems but other peopl do, a lot of peopl stick it on top of their vcr/dvd player in the shelf unsder their widescreen tv and they overheat. Mine is on top of my high-fi in the open and it has a lot of room around it so it stays cool. you may want to start off here (click link) to see if you have enough of a signal to warrant getting it without an aerial upgrade or if you live relatively close to a signal tower. For a point of referance i'm getting a decent enough signal and it told me i might receive freeview but i might need an aerial upgrade. This site is also pretty decent as well (click link), they run through pretty much everything you need to know about a freeview set up. If you understad much about tv signals and how they work you can use this site (click link?) and it will tell you the details of your nearest signal tower (distance away, compass bearing for you to point the antenna in the right direction), again for reference mine is 14 miles away and it suggests i use a high gain tv aerial. that should do you hope it helps

Sorry it took me 4 weeks to reply to that but have a look on airevalley cycles, if i remember right they sell a 2.5 michelin comp 24 for £19.99 which is a lot less than £35.

that was me, i made a whole shop review all about the shop they're service and turnaround time.

I'll be going on the saturday as well because i won't be able to get there on the sunday.

I'm also another person who likes to have a seat. i get why people would like to have no seat but at the same time i think it looks more stupid for bikes that have a perfectly good seat tube to run those crappy little plastic excuses for seats. In my opinion many otherwise nice looking bikes are ruined by an out of place plastic scoop that is put on instead of a seat. I do reckon my next frame will be seatless, and long because i'm really tall. but i don't think i will go with the whole silver malarky, royal blue or something like that would be nice.

Hope u can still ride with it like that. A lad at my das school when he was a kid pushed a pipe through a hole in the wall so he could look through to the next classroom. Which, happened to be a design and technology class, and the teacher saw this pipe slowly coming through the wall. The Teacher picks up a mallet and smacks it really hard. Boy blinded for life. I would rather have one less mole than no eyesight! good subconcious aiming.

I would say as to NOT get a jaqwire cable thats been teflon coated, i think they only come on the innner cables but there might be an outer with it on somewhere. Basically, it starts to rub off inside after a while and you end up with a thick gunky mess that you have to clean out for it to work again. I have heard lots of good things about the odyssey linear slic cables, you may want to try somewhere like RS or even the peddle power in loughborough might have them. If i am remember right, these are the ones that you can bend to some very sketchy angles and the cable still pulls through perfectly well, which would be handy if you decide you want to start barspins or something like that.

Mine used to make one beep when i turned it on. then i got a new graphics card and motherboard and it made two beeps. then i updated the bios on the motherboard and it now makes three beeps. Still works fine though.

There was a lad near me who had the same problem. The hub didn't spin freely enough and when he pedalled backwards the freehub didn't turn fast enough to take up the chain slack, so when he was pedalling it was alrigh but if he started to coast along the chain went slack and the got wrapped up and jammed into his frame the next time he went to pedal. The area that the chain cuts into is very thin and i can't imagine it would have taken long for it to wear through. But i do think that saracen are right in saying its excessive abuse. I mean, its instantly clear that the chain is stuck if you can't pedal forwards so you instinctively jump off the bike. However the lad near me just tried to force it out by pedalling harder.. a couple of times doing this and there was a nice big hole that i could fit the end of my finger into. Saracen said the same thing to him, that he'd have to buy a new frame at retail price. I don't know if you have much of a chance of getting a free replacement because it sounds quite a lot like your son has done the same thing and just tried to force it back out. (for the sake of argumentative forum members this is my personal opinion and i am only trying to help the guy out so don't start anything silly) I would say that your best bet would definately be to ring saracen up and ask them, because it is more than likely that the shop you bought it from are trying to make some more money out of it. It was the same when i bought my jump bike a while ago i rang the manufacturer and they sent me more than enough free parts. If, in the unlikely event that saracen tell you the same and that you'll have to buy a new frame, i would recommend having a look on here first for a second hand frame. You should be able to pick up a better quality frame for around the same price that won't be in too bad a condition. I would also check the rear hub and see if it could be this thats the problem you may want to either loosen it up by riding it or spraying some gt85 around the freehub or buying a better rear hub. Hope you get it sorted

Phd Research Into Sensory Aspects Of Riding In London
Krisboats replied to Bingowings's topic in Trials Chat
I'm glad it was all of some use to you. And yes, you can feel completely free to use that picture should you want to, add me to msn (krisboats@hotmail.com) or e-mail me at that address and i will send you the picture. I don't know if there's a dramataic increase in quality with the file i have here but it won't have the trials-forum logo in the corner. There is just one thing i will ask. If it does get published and everything and it doesn't take like 6 years to get finished, would you be able to take a picture or scan the book and show us how it turned out? That would be pretty cool . So come on people I'm sure there's going to be little things we've missed that you can contribute with. Get your opinions rolling in!
