haaah! damn right, you deserve everything you get for stealing windows. You can get a legal OEM copy of XP pro for £90 if you buy it with a hard drive, CPU or other major computer part so there's no excuse. however, in the meantime try mashing f8 while windows is starting and pick safe mode with command prompt it might let you run format c: from there - if not, it might let you run the windows installer from the CD which will allow the format (probably).

Interesting new frame, I preferred the dropped chainstay one but I'm glad onza are being a bit braver with designs these days. Trials riders aren't huge great hulking monsters they're little springy men (yao zhi for example - my little sister could kick his arse easy ) . yeah - that sort of thing is usually power. otherwise your disk's probably cacked - new disks are crap - if in doubt I just buy new ones. - with the network card, were you plugging it into the topmost PCI slot? because that one usually shares power with the AGP - meaning it's best left empty.

anzo's explanation of how snailcams work is grand. The only thing I'd add is to tighten your axle nuts by switching sides every turn or so rather than doing one up and then moving onto the other - with snailcams the wheel is more likely to slide about in the dropout while you tighten than with standard chaintugs. The smooth snailcams aren't as hard to set up as I was expecting - they're no worse than standard chaintugs in terms of lining things up.

With the exception of one or two tiny little companies ( leeson etc ) it's all cheap shite mass produced in asia. The frames are built up from off the shelf tubing and most likely all glued together in the same factory. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that a levelboss frame costs about £30 to make yet you get stung £400 or so by the time it gets to a shop. Like everyone says, it depends what components you're talking about really and what you're planning to do with it. For example an XTP weighs f**kall but start smacking it into walls and you're going to break it pretty quickly. Something like a python weighs more but you can knock down public toilets with them and they're fine (possibly)

As an absolute basic measure . turn on WEP (128 bit) - you'll have to set passwords or keys for people to join your network. How it works depends what cards/router you have - I have kcorp stuff so its a simple password - my old cisco stuff used extremely complicated keys. WEP is a bit shite but it will prevent the casual user stealing your bandwidth and credit card details. It won't protect you from somebody who's serious. You should really be running WPA as well - it's a better security jibber than WEP and is much harder to bust open. If you aren't at least running WEP and you've been buying stuff online, you will be robbed blind at some point. ( I know all about this cos my mums a recently retired network security person for BT) As well as all this you can usually allow only specific wireless cards to talk to your router/access point. Somewhere in the router settings it will have a MAC address table. You can usually get the MAC address of your wireless card by looking in it's settings. This isn't 100% because you can fake your MAC address but anybody who's trying to sneak in would have to know a valid MAC address in order to copy it. tada!

please dont laugh at me but ... can you run a front freewheel ( specifically an eno ) on middleburns ? Maybe if i were to dispense with the bashring? They look much nicer than the echo and tensile jobs and cost about the same and that makes me want to run some on my mod (especially since that bit of my bike's started to go all wobbly).

I wouldn't risk it - Its probably the only thing that stops the poor thing exploding when you drop off stuff.

i just ride their car park . but seriously like the man says, stretch before and after rides - you have to do both or you might as well not do either. warm muscles are happy muscles. I eat cod liver oil cos my joints get painful after big rides (i'm old and i used to take a lot of drugs which isn't good for your body, so it could just be me)
