Trail roadtrip 11-18th August - Gloucestershire/Wales?
craigjames replied to Luke Rainbird's topic in Bike Chat
Aston Hill is supposed to be pretty damn good now Luke, I know it's not going to be a massive park like South Wales; but some good riding. -
Well got the TIP and air filter in, can definitely see why people swap out the TIP. Admittedly that's an SFS oversize TIP, but it shows how comparatively restrictive the standard one is. Also gives reason as to why it was a pig to fit. Distinct lack of space!! PCV/ catch can, N249 bypass and SAI delete tomorrow (if the postie holds up his end of the deal and if I can find someone that sells 330 ohm resistors in Bridgwater... Mr Rainbird has already warned me that I may have a day of suspension and brakes soon....

That's with a f**ked right wrist, so all done left handed It's black now... was white put masked it up and took a can of black Plastikote to it, couldn't have it being white. Would have looked massively gay! Yeah they must be! at £13 quid it was rude not to, need to get a decent feed to it once it's in; which I'm off to do now Hopefully be doing an SAI delete and PCV simplification and catch can install tomorrow.... if my catch can turns up and it stays dry!

2000 and 2500 wet and dry, just a normal paint cutting and finishing compound. Masked it all off, bucket of slightly soapy water, wet and dried the crap outta them! Then polished and buffed by hand. Come up all right really, unfortunately they've got some decent sized scratches in already; needed some 1000 and 1500 grit to get those out. And yeah it's an S2000 filter, common little mod for 1.8T engines. Shame when you go to ECP to order it you have no idea what colour you're going to end up with. Guess white plastic and red filter element is better than the white and green it could have been!

For some reason the alarm decided to go off every five minutes last night, no idea what is causing it until I can get it scanned with VCDS; don't think it's the siren battery as I've not had it beeping on start up, all the interior lights are working and nothing on the dash to suggest a door isn't locking properly. So took the siren unit out, which Audi decided needed burying in a bloody awkward place. Typically today the alarm hasn't gone off at all. Had a crack at sorting out cloudy headlight lens today, think it's come out OK... definite improvement, although not perfect: Also had some other bits come through in the post today, although still waiting on a few other bits that should have turned up. Was hoping to get it all fitted tomorrow Filter sadly came as a nasty white and red, so thought I might as well get that sorted. Rest of the bits will hopefully turn up on Monday so I can get everything fitted in one go.

Jesus Robin, i'd seen the odd post from Ben and Chelsea about this on facebook but hadn't heard any details. Glad that everyone is ok... What the hell was a scooby doing going the wrong way? Really sad, that car has been in that family for a long time.

Ironic when you consider the quality of some of the things that have come out of Russia... Nothing to do with the pad being of Asian origin, more you using it for a purpose that it wasn't intended for!

Benito Ros devaluated in World Ranking for Doping
craigjames replied to stirlingpowers's topic in Trials Chat
It's not really the point that it could be in bite creams or whatever, Chris Froome got into bother with using Prednisolone just before this years Tour de France and was lucky to get away with it. It's on the banned substance list, doesn't matter what sport you participate in; if you're at the top you'll be under scrutiny and with the UCI you're bound to be tested with all the troubles they've had. To get caught twice is just careless, once you could put down to ignorance about the substances (although he's been competing at the top for long enough); but twice is just daft. These athletes are serious about their training and what they eat, they should be just as careful with the medications they take. -

Taken from: http://www.uci.ch/Modules/BUILTIN/getObject.asp?MenuId=&ObjTypeCode=FILE&type=FILE&id=Nzk5OTY&LangId=1 Looks like any titles or events won in that time are null and void. Seems like an easy one to accidently take, but then should really know better. -

Seems odd that it's taken this long for positive tests to come to light and something to be done about it... Any other sport it takes days/weeks; not years! Is he still injured or is this connected to why he isn't in Pra Loup? -
Why?
-
Probably won't be any lighter due to the extra material needed for the linkages etc. Nice concept, but as Ali said, creating a solution for a problem that doesn't really exist.
-
They're plastic so what would you recommend product wise Dan? 1000-2000 grit W&D Any old polishing compound? Lamin X for after
-
Need to do the same to the one's on my car. Give most things a try, but for some reason the thought of this one doesn't fill me with joy.
-
Try again. Do you use google chrome or mozilla firefox? If so you do realise you can download a spell checker browser extension? I don't know about I.E. As well... It's I.E.! It probably can be bled with water like a maggy, I had one of the originals bled with water fine. However like a magura, if you need to claim on warranty it will be void due to you not using the correct fluid.

I'd say 3/4 weetabix on the C.G.I.?

Not sure about bikes, but definitely the score for cars; taxed my A3 that had been sorned in exactly this way. So much easier and as of October you won't have to worry about getting stung for not having a disc displayed. Although I was told that they are thinking about making tax non-transferable, so if you buy a second hand car you'll have to get it retaxed in your name before you can drive it away.

So your bearings are worn, this required discussion in general? Let alone a whole topic on TF. Swap out the bearings with new ones, job done problem sorted.

Gilles Coustellier trial bike training at Fabregues
craigjames replied to stirlingpowers's topic in Videos
I like the fact that only last week this was posted: Bike looks nice, like the different downtube; almost Koxx Kloud esque. Video was awful though, filmed by a small hyperactive monkey? -
It's replacing, the 221 Kamel: Quick google translate: We have passed many tests in the factory, the Monty prototypes are currently being tested for many days. For proof image, the future 221 kamel. As we had the announcement, the new range includes the same curves in aluminum as the carbon Monty M5. More info soon on its release date!

So much win in this topic, for several different reasons; none of which is about the bikes.

That's fine. Watch the video, get an old scrap wheel to practice on if you aren't confident or get a friend to do it for you whilst you watch and learn.
-
http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/media/guides/maintenance_rim_grinding/m2.html Watch that, should tell you pretty much all you need to know, if you can find any old bike wheel/rim to practice on that will help as you'll get a feel for it. Try and match the harshness of your grind to the pads you are using, too light a grind and your pads won't work as well as they could. Too harsh and you'll just increase pad wear/ reduce the life of the rim. Wow, just wow.

I rarely disagree with you Robin, if ever, but on this account I do. It's an open forum and it's his opinion, some will love it some will hate it. People put up pictures or voice their opinions of whatever they want on here and it's up for open debate, praise and abuse. Personally i'm not a fan either, I think they're brilliant little cars and can handle incredibly well. Seems such a shame to take what is a pretty rare, fun and driveable car and in my opinion ruin it by taking away it's usability. Just see it as such a waste of a good car. But then i don't really get this whole stance scene anyway.

Shame it's not HD, but god he's a monster!
