I was in exactly the same situation before I did my ankle. Sadly looking forward to getting back to bouldering after I'm all healed up, more so than riding again. Getting harassed by work every other day about my current situation, I ripped my ATFL off of the end of my Tibia and took a bit of bone with it so I'm in a cast for 6 weeks (3.5 to go). I'm an engineer on a Naval base and have been told that it's not feasible to be on side for health and safety reasons. I've been signed off by my GP and work have told me I can't come onsite, yet my boss insists on calling (mobile and home), email, texting, even Facebook messaging me for updates all the time and expects me to call him on a Monday before 8 to give him an update. It's just getting a little excessive and I really want to tell him to f**k off,

The only way you could get a uniform finish on the frame would be to re-anodise it. $700??!?! I have heard of Frank and am aware of his work with Spooky, Sinister and his *** frames. But that seems a little excessive for such a small repair. His old *** trials frames were $895. What is he actually doing for that money? I assume your friend doesn't just want a simple weld repair, but wants it blended in and finished?

There isn't really any point in going anywhere specific here in the UK. For such a minor job, I and pretty much anyone else would go to a local welder/fabricator, cash in hand job; as it's only 5-10 minutes work. But to ensure a decent weld the anodising around the crack would be removed, even if you didn't it would get distressed by the heat put through it by welding. Why is it going to be so expensive to repair in the States? The last time I got a minor repair like that sorted it cost me a packet of biscuits! Sweet, is he building up a retro build then?

What do you mean by save the frame colour? Looks ball burnished/anodised silver. Welding it back up with damage the existing finish, but any local fabricator that can weld aluminium should be able to fix the crack. Out of curiosity what is the frame?

Mmmmm revelations Are they the same colour? Decided I really need to get a new bike rather than spending money replacing everything that needs sorting on mine. Just can't justify it, House>Car>Trials bike>MTB.

Are you from the States? The second hand market over there seems to be a fair bit stronger than over here in the UK, so everything seems comparatively overpriced. Even so it is fairly dated so might not be the bast value for money.

Saw Nightcrawler last week, was really good. Creepy in places, but good. Automata was ok, nothing amazing; but definitely watchable Lets Be Cops was pretty funny, nice easy watch. Got Sin City: A Dame To Die For and Most Wanted Man to watch tonight, both of them look awesome; very very different though!

As said, crazy short stays might not be feasible, certainly will feel pretty nasty/odd with such a high BB. Reach is measure from the centre of the BB to top centre of the headtube, what you've measure there is the reach. What figure do you come out with when measuring the actual reach? Why such a slack head angle? Was this to achieve the desired wheelbase?

Love the Monty Pro race tyres i've been running for over the summer. Really impressed with them, only issue is as they have really low profile nobs they don't have the longest life span. Not tried them on wet natural yet, not sure how well the will cope with wet grassy/muddy run ups.
