    Car Insurance

I had to take a short term policy (28 days) just put my mum as the main driver and me as a named worked out ok but still cost £100
  2. I just get a regulation haircut, last's about 8 weeks then I have to have it cut again, nice and easy to look after
  3. awesome. haha next time you do something like this I'll need to take a car full and tag along looked like some serious banter. nice riding as well though gav
  4. 760m swim, 20k bike, 5k run I went for a semi reasonable one I don't want to be entering an iron man one yet lol it's the last race of the season in the local series so if enjoy it then i'll get booked up for the whole of next season and train like hell over the winter months. I can already put in a respectable time on each of those things individually so I just have to combine them over the next few months which should be Ok I'm quitting lifting heavy weights for now anyway, as it's damaging my already dodgy knees and causing me back pain. so just working on specific areas and cardio from now on.
  5. i've just put my name in for a triathlon sprint race in september training starts today then just need to earn some bucks and buy a road bike.

    .,

give it a weeks rest and you'll be fine. I've done it a few times myself on those kicks, i think its got to do with not getting your upper body low enough, so your stretching for height with your leg that with the combination of not warming up fully equals bad hamstrings I don't think it'll be torn if you can still walk on it, might be worth going to see a doctor about anyway
  7. Gossip- standing in the way of control (soulwax remix)
  8. f**king hell haha my lessons were expensive. I guess I still saved though cause he got me through my test fast.
  9. The thing is , how many of you are planning on walking in the vietnamese jungle, visiting Antarctica, hiking in the grizzlys or parachuting out of a plane into the middle of no where with just a knife and a water bottle. if i wanted to learn stuff i'd speak to ray for sheer comedy values though bear wins hands down.
  10. I payed £27 haha he is the best instructor around though.
  11. according to my test dvd thing, the average is 42 hours. thats loads some people must take like 80 hours how much do guys pay for a 1 hour lesson?
  12. you can't be failed for going 30 in a 30 though unless it's dangerous but you can be failed for going 20 in a 30 so it's worth keeping a reasonable speed. especially if it's a straight piece of road, narrow or not just look right up it and if it's clear accelerate to 30. you won't be failed for crossing your hands I was worried about that too. i think they fail you if you 'palm' the wheel though. The hardest thing for me was the fine line between cautious and hesitant but sorted that out by just doing loads of practice. There's no point in driving on your drive and stuff, I've been able to drive a car since i could see over the steering wheel (about 11-12). and I had to relearn everything. not because I was doing it wrong but because when your driving you should be thinking about everything in sequences it comes naturally to most people but if you've already been practicing on your drive then you won't remember to do simple observations before you go. don't be nervous about your test you can always re sit it. just concentrate and be confident, look like you know what your doing, thats what the examiner is looking for, not someone who is scared of driving. mine lasted 38 mins and it felt like 10 the time flies by the hardest thing about my test was the questions he asked before hand. 'how do you test if your parking brake is working?' 'how do you clean the back wind screen from inside the car?' 'why do you never turn the wheel while the car is stationary?' I got them all right but I wasn't prepared for them.
  13. for me driving is a piece of piss I was ready for my test after about 5 1 hour lessons, but to some it comes naturally and others it doesn't so don't be bothered if it takes you a long time. I passed just the other day and I start doing my pass plus soon I've also spoken to the person who's going to put me through my advanced driving training so that will be a good laugh. as for clutch control I have no idea what you mean, you hardly have to do any of it for your test, unless you class setting off and stopping clutch control? just don't ride the clutch on corners and things the only clutch control you have to do is your hill start which is a pretty easy, just don't be scared to give it some gas and once you've found the bite keep your feet still.
  14. you'd be down on money really, and if those were your main points for staying then you should get an apprenticeship in something mechanical you'd be on better money, you'd only have to do it for 2-4 years, you'd get the same sense of achievement from building an engine or sorting a compressor as you do from building bikes, and if you play your cards right you can make a shit load more money than you can from college.
  15. it's definitely not impossible, but you have to be really clever or working on commission to do it. for example my Granda works part time (he's pretty much retired) for a few hours a week doing civil and architectural engineering consultancy and he gets 300 quid an hour for it however he has got 2 degrees in engineering. I don't know about epic win/fail, I guess it's what you make of it.
  16. I don't know the full details of your situation, but really you have to think about your future at this time, where do you see your self in five years time? college after wasting time working in Evans? uni? floating about an office in a suit? doing something more hands on? claiming as much benefits as possible and working on the side to support your pregnant girlfriend? I don't know, but i can guess which ones i'd prefer if you honestly think think you'd enjoy working in a bike shop for years on end then go for it, there is a lot of money to be made if you have your own bike shop, but doing a couple of years and then going to college seems a bit of a waste of time to me take the education for free or even try and get an apprenticeship you can't regret doing either of these things but you can easily regret wasting years of your life. anyway it's your decision so go with what you feel is right.
  17. you're not really bulling about it then are you? I'm starting mine in august, it's at college and it's electrical engineering operations, 3 years and the option of having another 2 to carry on and complete a degree. I just applied everywhere I could a lot of apprenticeships with small companies are taken by people the company already know, employee's sons. etc.
  18. I'm pretty sure the brakes they use depends on the weather i've seen all of them running front discs at least on wet days. as for him running two bikes, there must only be 100-200 grams saved on the light one so I'm sure he hardly ever notices.
  19. do it as kris said. i just use allen keys to keep the pads away from the caliper

    Motorbikes..

yeah but you could hit a 100k worth of car and write it off. for me it's not/wasn't worth the risk, for you it probably is. mind you if it was up to me, I'd ban motorbikes under 250 cc and above 600 and only let people learn to ride them from 25 onwards. I say that, but I'm about to get a 125 for getting to college on haha

    Motorbikes..

yeah but it's more to do with the fact if you come off your bike going more than 30 and you cause a lot of damage, your insurance company will rip it apart to see if you'd modified it without declaring, if you have then your f**ked basically. 50's shouldn't be able to go above 30 if the rider is just 16, if they can then you void your insurance and therefore could end up in a bit of bother which you don't really want. it might be worth the risk, it might not . it's up to you.
  22. wrong, it is all in the head. The human body can far exceed what the mind thinks it can, take free diving for example those guys don't have huge lungs but they have got a mental state that they can slip into which allows them to slow there heart enough and hold there breath. In running you feel pain and you think your muscle has had enough running so you stop. but the pain is the minds message of telling you to stop it doesn't mean you have to stop. If you block out the pain and the tiredness you get a second wind which allows you to keep going.
  23. I didn't have sound on for the first 30 seconds. I thought there was gonna be some kind of gang bang lol.
  24. I'm not sure but i think it's slow because they are trying to convert their videos into higher quality, meaning they are all taking longer to load. it's annoying as hell

    Depression

not of course not, it'll give you the motivation to cure it though. Thats what it's designed for. it's all well and good just saying get out of your house and f**king do something to someone who's depressed. But really you're only making them worse because the more you say it the more they think thats normal and that they aren't normal. Then they start to question everything about themselves, 'why am I here?' ' what's my purpose?'. next thing you know you find them hanging from a tree. motivating someone is fine, but separating then from the normal isn't and thats why curing depression should be left to people who know what they are doing.
