get some sand paper, and sand your pad a little. will get rid of any shit on there

In my experience, doing this has made their performance even worse, definitely not something I personally would recommend doing. :)

Out of interest, why is grinding not an option?

You shouldn't NEED to use tar with a good grind and a good set up brake. It's best used for emergencies just in-case for some unknown reason reason your brake goes poop..

same performance in the rain? i found heatsink yellows savage on a smooth rim, but the slightest sign of moisture, and they turned wank :(

Wet weather performance isn't something I'm bothered with, we have an indoor spot for the bad days of weather.
