tdubz
Just fitted a pair of trialtech cranks to my GU frame pushfit (echo bottom bracket) I have used the echo bb spacers that come with it tightened cranks up but noticed there is a gap between arm and bb spacer, maybe 4mm enough for the spacer to be moved with my fingers is this safe to ride? at this stage i have my doubts what is the remedy for this issue? i can upload pics if people are interested but hopefully my description is sufficient many thanks tom
trialsbikingnunn
some pictures would be helpful how tight is the crank done up? as tight as it will go? maybe try taking off the crank and pushing the spacer further on and see how that goes? tdubz
the cranks are as tight as they will go. the spacer is on as far as it will go, it actually moves forwards and backwards between the bb bearing and the arm. I will upload pics in a bit.

isitafox
That will be fine, once the cranks bed in they'll bolt up a bit closer

AdamR28
That's correct, ISIS specifies 3-5mm preload with new cranks.
Blake
My trialtech cranks did that
tdubz
That's correct, ISIS specifies 3-5mm preload with new cranks. The gap is correct or twatting it with the hammer haha
J.KYDD
The gap. New cranks splines are tight. Just ride it and be sure to tighten the cranks during and after ever ride. It may take a couple of weeks for them to fully screw onto the axle so don't be worried if after only 2 or 3 rides they aren't fully on. I had a brand new set of Breath cranks and BB which took around 4 weeks or so of regular rides to fully do up

niconj
What about a new bottom bracket and used TryAll Elite cranks. I also have a 5mm gap and I doubt that the cranks will slide on any further or am I mistaken? Does the crank have to touch the spacer? I can imagine that the bottom bracket comes loose if not. AdamR28
That's fine too.
niconj
That's fine too. So the bearings don't come loose? I thought that the spacers have a function other then looking good. Btw. what tool is used to press in those bearings?
niconj
Ok. So I was able to tighten my cranks on every ride but still have a gap there. I just hope that I can get off the cranks when it comes to changing the freewheel.
AdamR28
Nope, bearings don't come loose. Tool: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/tools/echo_spanish_bb_installation_tool/c31p11917.html Latest post: Yep, that's also fine, you will have no problems. niconj
Could I just leave out the bb spacers? They are rattling and after like 10 rides I don't think that the cranks will tighten any further. There's still a 3 to 4 mm gap.
Jake.
I took mine off... No problems
