A quick one to wet your appetites. I've made a start but its going to take me a while.

Is that Ken Block?

I was happy with getting a 1:03. Lots I want to change on the car now! Namely tyres and suspension as it all felt far too soft and lacking grip.

Dans Pilot Sports really impressed me.

Don't go buying lots of go-faster bits for your car... Try and find last year's results and compare Haz's times. He's had track tyres, a cage, set of coilovers and a roll centre correction kit since then (sorry to use you as an example Haz but it's quite a good one in this case!).

Soft doesn't mean a lack of grip... Especially when you can get a completely standard Mk1 MX-5 round in 1:01...

But on the upside last year made me do exactly that, bought a shit load of things to my car and it handles much better. That corner before the long straight had me nearly understeering into the field everytime, this year it was much better. Man what a day!

You could just be a better driver which is what's leading to less understeer as much as anything?  :P  I just mean that there's so many ways to induce/reduce understeer with how you corner that I don't know how much you can necessarily pin on specific changes, especially when you've had a year of improvement/experience.

Trudat.

I'll just throw this out there... The car that improved the most in terms of lap time (the what-used-to-be-mine-and-is-now-Mark's MX-5 - from 1:03.3 to 1:01.0) didn't have any upgrades at all... It just wore its tyres out in the last year (now showing canvas) The driver spent a reasonable amount on time on track in that last year though. Getting better at driving is 100% the best 'upgrade' for any car...

So I've uploaded a bunch of photos to Facebook. Here's a link for you here. Feel free to tag yourselves if you aren't already. Quite a few people last time asked for prints which I can still do, up to A3 or can even get some canvas's printed.

Here's a few of my favourites.

Oh yeah, completely agree that buying car parts isn't the way to get faster. But for me the car felt so good, really did drive how I would hope.

The main difference this year to last, is that I've not improved, if anything I'm worse. Couldn't get braking right, couldn't apply power smoothly, couldn't gauge my turn ins... I just couldn't put it all together.

@dann2707however has improved so much it's just crazy. I had a few passenger laps and it was crazy to see the difference from last year, well impressed.

Same time next year for TFTD3?

Get what you're saying but the coilovers are letting it down massively, both fronts are leaking and have minimal damping and the level of grip wasn't even comparable. Nothing I didn't want to change anyway, was always on the cards :)

Pretty pleased that I'm the only one coming away from that without wanting to change anything on my car* :P

Shout out/high five to Duncan for that time in the Nissan - 1:15 is serious business.  Should have pumped a few more laps in, see how upsettingly close to everyone's times you could have got.

*Except tyres - Adam noticed that one of mine was down to the canvas, so... yeah...
