Honest answer, I don't know. but I don't think so. A turbo isn't a massive job from what I can gather - some drilling required I think, but other than that not too much. My friend who is helping me fit the engine has turbo'd his, so he'll offer some ideas at the time I guess.

Yeah the clutch should be good for about 200bhp, the max I could get is about 240 but I want to run it lower for reliability. I'd be happy with 180-190 really.

Yeah managed to sell the shell to someone for £250 which is decent I think.  Made a right profit on the car as a whole with me obviously keeping the engine box and loads of other bits and bobs. Received my parts today. Gf messaged me saying "you've received a casual 11 items today" hahahaha

Hi guys,

A quick, and perhaps dumb, question!...

The engine in my LC is starting to rack up the miles now (150k). There's nothing wrong with it (touch wood) and the cars going well. If I wanted to keep the car for several more years, would it be worthwhile rebuilding the engine? Can a 'basic' rebuild be achieved at home with an engine crane or is it much more of a specialist job? Will cylinders require re-honing etc to do a proper job or could you replace piston rings etc without?

My engine is due for delivery on Thursday. In preparation for it's arrival, I'm getting to my friends place early so we can demolish his shed (Which is blocking his new garage). We're also gonna paint the garage floor and install some of those tile things to protect it.

Frustratingly, neither of us are free at a weekend until the first week of March. Which means I have two weekends in which to finish all the work, before my Euro road trip...

Ive made a list of things I need to do to get the car completed. It's quite a long list of smaller jobs, some having more priority than others.

Missed off a few things too as I realised last night. 

Got a collection of Megane parts at the back of the garage which I need to list and sell.

The engine is on the stand and I've dismantled it to get the cambelt cover off

Ac compressor is off now and I'm waiting on a stretch belt to arrive so I can fit the 182 pulley with it.

Boris is back in the garage with the bonnet off so I can do the little odd jobs.

Forgot what the inside of the car looked like for ages

Fitted the master cylinders to the pedal box with new bolts and washers. Something so so satisfying about having new ss fasteners.

And my next issue is... Pedal box position. 

Even with the seat the furthest it will go on the side mounts and subframes its not a comfortable position at all. I need to think about how I'm to solve this as the pedal box wants to be up and back where the original pedal box used to be ideally...

Got the fabbed driveshafts for the box conversion and tonight after Harry Potter I removed the cable ties holding them on,  regreased them and fitted new boot clips.

Nice to have crossed something off the list! 

Next step will be getting rid of the shell and doing all the brake lines as I received most of the parts for it on Friday. 11 parcels arrived on one day Hahaha.

Waiting on a brake line cutter and pipe bender, p clips and a bulkhead adapter for the rears as I want to do it neat and as properly as possible. 

I'm now niggled about the pedal box situ...

The 306 definitely isn't a motorway mile muncher. Great on fuel plodding around town and to/from work but guzzles it on the motorway! Only doing around 65/70 so hardly caining it either. 

Need to try a thermostat in this week as it seems to struggle to warm up past 70*

A rummage in my pile of old crap found me a bunch of parts that'll be suitable to cobble together a lower profile exhaust, the tubing is slightly larger but that may make it better for when I go turbo. I have a new flexi section on order as that one has a hole and I need to make some ends for the exhaust so that sections can be bolted together but other than that it should be quite straight forward, there also some alternative silencers beside that I may fit if there is room as they are larger and may be a touch quieter which would be nice.

@george_seamons I think some bits were off your 1.8T, the Toledo and lugs VR6...

Some wire brush treatment and a lick of VHT will hopefully preserve them long enough to last a few years although I know some exhausts rot from the inside out.

Yeah got a flaring tool. For a decent flare it needs to be as perpendicular as possible so not wanting to risk it with a hacksaw. WhWhat George said yeah, and I'm using a cable throttle body do the pedal box is ideal

That's the collector done with, I needed to raise it up nearly an inch but the tubing is quite tired out which meant I was getting blowing holes occasionally and fairly untidy welds due to thatso a fresh one will be made at some point in the future, hopefully it'll last until engine/turbo happen and then I can make something more suitable. The tubing I'm using is 5mm larger OD overall which I'm hoping won't make too much difference noise wise (A slightly deeper tone potentially).

After, less of a gap but still enough I hope to prevent excess heat build up there, I've seen less space on other cars that are stock.

Not really, would easy enough to make one too. Some sort of rocker with one end attaching to the clevis on your hydro master, other end on the standard clutch cable.

More complicated than you'd need, but gives the idea:

Might be a much easier option for you given the shape of your footwell... Those pedal boxes go into kit cars etc pretty easily, but they are so square that I can't imagine them being anything other than a PITA for a 'regular' shell.
