  1. More debate here too: http://www.observedtrials.net/vb/showthread.php?t=21045 Steve
  2. It's a common problem Those plastic threads in the dial just don't have the robustness you'd expect. I'd recommend asking "Dave85" (Edd Potts) to make you a replacement alu dial with knurled finish. These are becoming a popular improvement to fit to 05 Maguras. It's what the dial should have been to start with, with much more robust threads and a pimpier look too. Edd has made quite a few custom parts for me in the past and comes highly recommended. I'll find his email soon. Steve

    Felix!

I've uploaded the vids to Trials-shack too if it's helpful: http://www.trials-shack.co.uk/Heatsink/vierundzwanzig-1.wmv http://www.trials-shack.co.uk/Heatsink/vierundzwanzig-2.wmv I love the vids! My favourite is #2. It's also nice that in Vid2 the fork colour has been sorted out to match the frame! Photos of his 24UK are on my website now, and I'm eagerly awaiting the updated ones with those nicer coloured forks! Steve
  4. Sorry about this! http://www.breakthechain.org/exclusives/gorsky.html
  5. Another vote for Pete being a sound guy Coming from someone who has met him in person and chatted to him on the phone many times. Some crazy stories have been told by him in internet land, and it's brought the worst out, but you'll find that everyone who had met him will happily put this to one side, no matter how heated it was on TF in the past. Pad wise, it's been said before, but those pads were made by Wally/Joe not Pete, so you can't make any judgement on Pete's pad making quality from that. Just seems another excuse to rake up the past on Pete. Steve PS Close the thread?
  6. It was a great day! Fantastic tribute to DJ with great riding and great peeps. Managed to confuse/insult a few people by getting confused putting names to faces for the first time/again after 1 year gone by! The garden was really inspiring, as has been the incredible way Charlie Sue and others close have brought it all together and organised this event again. So cool to see their hard work rewarded with such a cracking turn out and excellent weather. I've shifted racial groups now thanks to my concentrated burst of sun..... Steve
  7. Some people might find this useful - The Abingdon Football Club address is: Abingdon United Football Club Northcourt Road Abingdon Oxfordshire OX14 1PL Should be there between 11:30 and midday. Come and say hello to me too - I'm very nice! Steve
  8. To be honest, all the components I want to release are always pushed back at the moment. Life is just so hectic with everything I've got going on; family, full-time job, Heatsink stuff. I need the dust to settle a bit before I can commit to anything new. The nearest I've come to a Vee booster actually being physically realised so far is this one I made using a jigsaw the other day. [attachmentid=5056] The shape is based on the CNCed booster with the fitment brought closer in. I needed a quick solution for the huge amount of flex that was going on in the bosses on my front forks. I'll be moving this booster to the rear as soon as I get the rear brake set-up. The simple dimpled look could be a consideration for something fresh in a future Vee booster. Steve
  9. Hi, I've just uploaded some galleries of John "Bongo" Blundell in action on his BMX, and Dominik Raab (Austrian Rider) riding a rather cool Trials Park. More Team rider photos being uploaded later! EDIT: Just uploaded photos of ONLY in Russia riding another rather nice trials park. Team Rider Galleries (please no lazy links!) - Scroll down News to link I hope you like them! Steve
  10. Hey Rob, A strong body of work there! Very nicely realised too. You're definately going places! The dancing robot was very amusing! The trials vid stops short for me before any riding begins Steve
  11. The bike is looking very smart! Good luck with that cut down seat post there Check out my Base Ta26, it's mutated a bit. Riding with no rear brake is rather limiting, and there's something funny going on with the wheels too. [attachmentid=5006] Steve
  12. Where is it on the site? I'm having no joy! School boy error - Just needed to refresh the page.....Slooooooowly downloading Astounding riding!
  13. Does the chain catch the chainstay? Clearance looks very tight. If they remove the dropped stay, does it have any other novel features to set it apart from the other Onza Mod frames?
  14. I left some uncharacteristically cheeky comments on your page Dave
  15. I love the many diagrams trying to baffle everyone! He should have chosen a date way in the future so that he could set up a cult during his lifetime. He believes that Aliens made the crop circles.....no one's told him about the merry pub going hoaxsters that love to churn these things out
  16. This one below is almost there to a full white colour scheme. It looks like it's begging for a white front rim - Maybe someone could photoshop it to see what it would look like! Maybe white forks would be nice too. This bike is in Australia! I should soon have some photos of a 24UK with those gold Halo rims front and back, complimented with alot of gold components. It will all be on my website very soon [attachmentid=4848] The Spec: Frame: 24UK Fork: Kinesis MaxLight Headset: BBB Bar: BBB Free Bar Stem: BBB Quatro Force BB: FSA Platinum Pro Crankset: FSA V-Drive Extreme Pedals: BBB Freeride Chain: Shimano HG50 Rear Wheel: Alex MT22 on Tuff-Neck hub Front Wheel: Sun Singletrack on Dice Hub Tyres: Kenda K-Rad (rear) Maxxis MaxDaddy (front) Rear brake: Dice Disc Front brake: Dice Disc Seat/Post: BBB Anatomica Saddle on Raceface post Seat clamp: BBB Skewers: Dice front, Bolt on rear Gearing: 22-18 single speed, Sora mech
  17. Really smart! I've got some extra decals for the frame I can send you if you'd like. There are seatstay and head tube stickers available for it Pop me a PM if you're interested! Steve

    Hs33

Just wanted to say that I'm really pleased that the Fresh Levers have finally been released! I know myself how much time these things can take, and how sure you have to be that the design is 100% before cracking ahead. The financial commitment can be daunting if you making your first steps into getting components made. It's certainly a world away from the position the large trials firms are in. The final Fresh lever looks excellent I can't see anything that I would suggest doing differently! On the subject of crazy longer levers, you can't just go longer and longer with proportional benefits. From memory the relative leverage ratio of a normal magura lever blade in a HS33 system all the way to the pads is 5:1. So there's 5x the movement at the lever compared to the amount each brake pad moves. I haven't looked at my calculations for a while, so the figure may not be 100% correct but it's a useful figure for this discussion. 5x the lever movement compared to each pad means 5x the force at each pad. This trade of movement for a magnification of braking force at the rim can't be increased forever though, because there's only so far that it's comfortable to reach your finger out from the bars (start position) and so far you can pull it in (end position) before it hits your hand. Aside from the ergonomics, there's the fact that any compression in the system (the pads and backing being the dominant item) will be magnified by the lever ratio. So with the standard system and blade, 1mm in compression each side will appear as 5mm of squish at the lever. I'm very tempted to buy one of those Fresh levers but I've only just sorted out trying an RB blade mounted in a HS33 body (a few years late with this trend!) Steve
  19. Golden Brown - The Stranglers Running in the Family - Level 42 Road to Hell - Chris Rea Plenty of cracking songs from the past - always nice to go for a nostalgic trip!
  20. No import/export duty within the EU You don't need customs declarations on parcels at all. Great being in the EU with such free trade Steve
  21. ^ That's hit the nail on the head The frame was so shiney after the laquer had been removed! Although it will go dull in time I think. I could try spraying some laquer over the top to protect it at some point. ^ I haven't given up hope of running a rim brake on it via an adapter. If my adapter idea works then I'll run a Vee on the rear because the adapter is a little simpler for this than one for a Magura.
  22. Here is some useful info: Check out the "Manufacturing Overview" link at the bottom - Good info there (aside from the 60s photos!) http://home.howstuffworks.com/question376.htm Steve
  23. I've just Nitromorsed my Base TA26 frame. Reading the small print on the back of the can, there are some links between the contents and cancer. It advises not to get on your skin or breathe it in. If you don't wear gloves then you will get some on your hands and it stings! If it's that potent at getting paint off, just think what it's doing to your skin! Definately find some gloves, and use it outdoors if possible so fumes are lost. In terms of getting paint and stickers off, it's a breeze! Very satisfying when it all falls off. My Base frame was brushed Alu with laquer over the top, and the Niromors has a rather cool effect on the laquer: It goes from shiny and smooth to crinkly within seconds. Here are some photos: ^ I need some replacement FBM Bunny Stickers now ^ I got one of the very first batch of 2004 Bases when they first came out. There was one headtube sticker under the laquer with Engrish on it, and another stuck to cover it on the top of the laquer! ^ The final result which I very chuffed with. Here's a teaser: I haven't quite finished it yet, but notice anything different about the bike build? Steve
  24. Diesel is an interesting one! In high pressure applications (oil pressurised by pumps not your hand), I've come across something called the 'Diesel effect'. Maybe this could be the secret to your explosive riding Wayne! Steve
  25. My suggestion: Don't do it, buy a new peice of clothing instead. At least you can through that away when you're bored of it. Same advice would come from me for any sort of tatoos. It's all so driven by fashion, transient by definition, with the flaw that it's permanent. I wouldn't even be seen dead in the clothes I was wearing 5 years ago, I'm very glad that I didn't decide that I needed to make a statement to the world via something permanent. Hopefully we all have inherent individuality, and mine comes not from how I look, but from within: My personality and approach to life. This is the view from my isle of old (and maybe experience?) Steve
