i know him! mate those 22mm seat tubes are made for mini seats (push in) or the old skool padded ones eg orange which had 22mm posts built into them i use a thin alloy post (cut off the bottom of an orange mini seat) surely it only needs to be like 2 inches long? even if it's super thick steel (i had one for a while) it wont weigh much i run an old skool (very) bmx clamp upside down to make the seat sit lower. works a dime (though i do have a 27.2mm seattube with a shim) boon

i did it to an fsa platinum bb..so maybe it actually snapped in the middle but didnt break in 2 pieces the crank arms just twisted round to they were in line with each other. and pedalling did nothing

easy as pie take out your gear cable and discard the outer. thread the cable through the normal hole so the nipple of the cable goes where the barrel adjuster usually is. tighten it up aligned in the correct gear and the mech will stay put.
