Today I had my camera with me and got to spend a few hours in Rockport, Massachusetts. It's not too far, I should definitely go more often. It's one of the best riding spots in the Northeast USA. Back in the day it used to be a oceanside granite quarry, which creates a really unique setting. There are loads of really big boulders and super technical riding, but also some huge flat sections and 90 degree cutouts from the granite quarry days.

So I actually found that incredibly insightful and am really looking forward to trying to apply some of my takeaway in my riding. Planning on watching it again in a few weeks and revisiting. Definitely seemed to really identify exactly what is going through my head in situations that paralyze me as a rider, but in the past I wasn't sure how to change my mindset to overcome those emotions except even more positive thinking. Which of course never really worked. Thanks Jack!

Talked to a rider who bought a 24" pure frame from them, and he said it had such bad quality issues out of the box he wouldn't even try to build it up.

Been following this guy on Facebook for a while. Seriously crazy stuff, all on some piece of trash old steel frame he's modified.

The end of double wall for Pure? Who still needs it.

Truth. I am particularly attached to the material echo uses, it's hard to match the braking performance. Any single wall 26" rims anyone would recommend for a heavier rider? I did get one of the old echo SL rims for now. -
So I just switched back to 26" after a brief time on 24". My new Echo's came with the new single wall Echo SL rims. I quite destroyed one of them in about 4-5 rides, and the build was fairly decent. Lots of huge hops, and even bent the sidewall in a couple places. My other bike is still functional... but I only ride it in shows. So then I go to buy a double wall rim. All that's really available is older stock Echo double wall... which won't last forever. I know Neon still has some older double wall rims available for dealers to purchase, but is anyone still manufacturing them? Does anyone else here still only run double wall? Or is there really no demand in pure trials. I know the average trials rider doesn't quite weigh as much as I do, but does everyone just replace rims every couple months?

Hey all. Lately I have been putting more time on the bike than I have in 10 years. Off the bike I've got some major problems and / or renovations to our home and two little kids, so I'm not catching much of a break during off days. All in all I'm feeling stronger and more confident than ever, which also means I'm starting to do a lot more big / ballsy stuff. I'm loving it, but my knees disagree. I'm going to start icing my knees after every ride, but was also considering knee support and / or compression during riding on occasion. Obviously it's not a good habit to do consistently, but on days when they aren't feeling good to begin or even just putting on for 15 minutes in the beginning of a ride to help get warmed up it would be nice. Tried a few options, standard pharmacy knee support, ace bandage, and a crappy powerlifting wrap that wasn't big enough for my leg. They all constantly pushed down and had to be readjusted almost every line. My quads are fairly big and it seems like it would be nice to have something that comes fairly high. (21.5 in / 55 cm just a few inches above the kneecap). Anybody found something that works? I know I had seen some of the bigger riders using knee wraps in the past. Was it TRA I saw used to use powerlifting wraps? I'm sure some of the heavier riders can chime in. I'm just under 220 lbs / 100 kg.

Looking good Ross! Some huge improvements in every video. Seriously loving some of the moves in there, including that big up to static wall hook deal.

Thanks for the updates. I've been checking the thread pretty regularly. -
Aurelien has become one of my favorite comp riders. He goes huge, but the style is awesome. It's good to see him putting out some decent media lately.

Curious, what type of hose are you using on the problem brake? I've been having a similar issue with some racing line brakes. It's driven me crazy. I had one Racing line set up firm as can be, and the other one I couldn't get to feel right for the life of me. I do a decent bleed, and after trying that a few dozen times I sat down and figured the only difference between the two brakes was the firm one was using trialtech hose and the squishy one was using racing line hose. Switched the hose out on the problem brake, and first bleed it felt great. Conclusion. Racing line hose causes extra brake flex. Use Trialtech or Magura brand hose instead.

Apparently he's doing all his trials demos on his road bike now. Seen a couple things on facebook that were ridiculous. Still... having your own name tattooed on your chest...?

Sounds fun! Looking forward to seeing some of the entries.

Really enjoyed that! Motivation to get out and ride today.

My buddy Matt just put this together. Definitely worth checking out!

Not a pic of the my bike, but I did this once just to keep tension for a group ride. Its called a 'ghost tensioner.' Snapped my hanger the night before and couldn't get the spoke tensioner to work out. This made things extra sketchy fun had it fall out a few times, but for the most part it worked.

Here it is! Ozonys Curve 24" V4 frame. Mostly trialtech sl parts I absolutely love the new trialtech lever blade! After some getting used to I am really enjoying this bike!

Do you compete?

It is the white signature one, but it's more around 2008. This one has been beaten on fairly hard. Originally owned by Leech, I think it was his backup bike. Might need to find a DX32 to get the vee's going again.

Curious if anyone has experience with discs on it. I'm getting my manifesto going again for an all around play bike (still will have a pogo stick). Normally I would stay away from discs on a 26" frame, but since it's overall an overbuilt steel anchor I thought it might take it. Has anyone tried it with success (or without success)? thanks!

For a while I would have one modern pure bike, and one super old school rig. I've got a Norco Manifesto that got built up off and on,had a Planet-x, and a WTF Virus build up both for a while, even a late 90's monty mod a couple years back. 90% of the time I would ride the modern bike, but some days I would ride the old school rig to mix things up a bit and generally having a lot of fun. If you've been riding for a really long time, it's a fun trip. More enjoyable in my experience than having two modern trials bikes. I plan on building up the Manifesto again with a dropper seatpost and gears. There is a big network of trails near me that are extremely techy with tons of natty and rocks.

I'm friends with Mike, so I'll chime in. Super nice guy, has done a lot to help out the north american scene. One of the only riders I've seen in person who really impressed me. The guy has a fairly crazy sidehop, like shoulder height. Really good natty rider, super techy. I don't think his bars are too far forward, last time I rode with him they were fairly normal. But it looks that way cause, he's not a tall person. Personally I think he would do better with a 130 stem, but he seems to like his setup so who cares? Anywho, he rides and trains like a comp rider, so the bike suits him. Does got some fairly high profile shows though

Hey guys. I'm looking at taking another shot at building a trials park in my backyard. Last year I tried, but the top soil is so soft it feels similar to riding in sand. This year I've decided to spend some money and put some gravel in a portion of the yard with the compactor to give a nice solid base. However.... we have a smallish lot (1/3 an acre), with an incredible view out the backyard, (mostly thanks to my awesome neighbor, who has a little vineyard right behind our property). So I don't really want to strew about pallets and random bits. I'm up for spending a bit of money on this. Obviously I can do landscape boulders, various stone / wood walls, etc., so what I'm really looking for is a bit of inspiration and maybe some pictures of what other people have done. I remember seeing a couple pics of Hans Rey's front yard and thinking that would be cool to do someday. I have little kids as well, so I have a couple ideas for things that could double as a playground. Right now I drive about an hour everytime I practice. I plan on putting in a pullup bar and maybe an outdoor gym as well.

The Maxxis High Roller isn't too hard to find in the 62a. A couple places still have it in a super tacky, just need to pay a bit extra for shipping. I got mine from one of the shops in france I think? (Thinking of ordering a couple extras as spares). Tyres I have tried. Maxxis High Roller: Grip is decent. Volume is good. Rebound is good for a tyre with such good pinch resistance. Pinch resistance is beyond phenomenal in my opinion. I'm 100 kg, and every other 26" tyre pinched like crazy for me. Similar pinch resistance to the 26" Der Kaiser. Conti Air King: Super grippy, decent volume. The tread pattern and low rolling resistance are a welcome treat when riding urban. A bit pinchy. If you're a lighter rider (sub 150 lbs) might be decent. I have one for a front tyre on rainy days when the Kenda isn't quite up for the challenge. Schwalbe Fat Albert: This tyre has some incredible rebound! Not as stable as the Maxxis, but it has a really nice feel to it. Unfortunately I still pinched a lot. However, it isn't horrible in the pinch department. Better than the Conti for sure. A decent standby. Grip is acceptable in most dry conditions.
