Somehow I think this is a feature that won't actually be used.

This x10. it used to be you tried some sort of organic aftermarket pad and hoped it didn't suck. The Trialtech or Jitsie pads (they are the exact same, under different brands) are absolutely brilliant on the BB7. I have been running a BBDB (the same one) for 12 years with a number of different pads and none of them come close. Go trialtech and go home happy. As per usual BB7, you need to get your brake setup perfect to feel the awesomeness.

The spot is Rockport Massachusetts, not Maine. Although close enough for all the brits. It's stupidly epic there. The granite is EXTREMELY grippy, and even the crappiest of tires will never slip. Also, normally big natty spots don't have a lot of flat or areas for rolling moves. However, Rockport used to be an oceanside granite quarry, where they would cut the blocks and load it right into the ship. So there are some huge flat areas and shelves all over the place, along with the normal crazy big technical natty. I live about a 90 minute drive from there, I would definitely go more often than I do. Some of the things Mike sidehops are just unreal to see in person, shoulder height on him.

Do you actually not know who he is?!

I have two of these sitting in my parts bin from when I had my trials shop in USA. I ordered them right before the 2nd version was released. If you (or anybody else) wants one it'd just be cost of shipping from USA for a brand new TNN insert. But still.... that is really short. I'm not 100% sure what the minimum height is.

haha, did you scratch up that Lezyne wedge at 9:45? Nice Vlog! I'm always curious about the behind the scenes stuff of demos / shows.

Around here old school bikes will sell to beginners if they are incredibly inexpensive. I know someone who just bought a Brisa B26 for $250. Whereas most used trials bikes are $500+. So, if you have a really nice build and some sentiment involved it might not be worth it. UK market might be different for used stuff.

Got a ride in at Rockport today.

Looking to hear some feedback when people get a chance to try it out. Grip? Pinch resistance? Volume? How does it compare to other options and such.
-
Ok. Sound good then. Might be good for lighter riders. I have a trial Queen and don't use it. If I lost 20 lbs might like it better. Might try it anyway.

I haven't heard good things about the Baron projekt. Too flimsy a sidewall from what I've heard. Interested to hear how you like it.Does it have apex inserts?

Kenda small block on the front is cheap and an "ok" tire. Not the best compound, no good for anything wet, slippery, or loose. But for Dry urban and rocks it'll do. Rear is a bit trickier. Conti's are stupid expensive. If you can find a Kenda Nevegal or Blue groove in a "stick-e" compound they are decent, and should be cheaper.

Hmm. I'm building up a mod. (shame on me I know). Already got MT7 on the front of my 26, but might go dual mt5's to save some cash. Just grab some TT pads and be happy. If all else fails I can rock the 185mm rotors on the mod.

So I know there are some slight differences in the brakes. MT7 has top loading pads, Mt5 doesn't. MT7 is supposed to come with toolless BAT, but they also sell them with BAT's apparently, which is what I got unknowingly. Is there an actual power difference between the two brakes? Or are the piston sizes and lever ratios the same, therefore power = same? If that was true, MT5 is wayyyyy less expensive.

I loved it. Even the worst akrigg vid is a few notches above just about anything else out there apart from the inspired crew.... That wallride was dope

Interesting bike setup...

What size piston does it use?

This was awesome. We need more of this.

How many people still keep / ride retro trials parts? Builds?
cwtrials replied to Brettoll's topic in Trials Chat
A few years back I tracked down my first three trials bikes, not just the same model, but the exact ones I owned. A 1999 X-Alp, a brisa B26, and a PX Zebdi I had ridden for about 7 years. It was kinda fun. Also bought a Manifesto that Ryan Leech had owned, even had some custom parts for him on it. While I enjoyed looking at them and the occasional ride, I was a bit too pragmatic to hold onto them. -
He isn't riding for hashtagg, he just rebranded one.

Just built this up this week. It has some new pedals and Magura MT7 front and Magura hs33 rear coming, but I am really happy with it. The Geo is what I was looking for.

I've been riding my wire bead Projekts for a while and am fairly happy. Saving a touch of weight with a folding bead would be nice if it was available. So two questions: Anyone ride the Der Baron 2.3 in a folding? It's supposed to be around 900 grams, which is a nice savings. From what I can tell online, it has an apex insert, so it should be fairly pinch resistant. But I am a bit worried it might not enough volume. Also, the Der Kaiser Projekt is supposed to come out in a folding version this year. Has it been released yet? That would be a nice way to save some weight on a tire I already like. Conti tires seem to take their time coming to North America....
