  1. I know what you're saying about the drum beats though. If you're editing and you have an idea of the effect you're trying to achieve (in this case timing the drums with the change of clip), then every time you re-watch the video, the effect is blindingly obvious to you. It's hard to know if other people will notice the effect on any kind of level. I noticed that particular effect but wasn't sure if that's what you meant since I assumed you were alluding to something far more esoteric
  2. Yeah I don't really care. I think I must read things differently to some people - when I read 'break', it means something completely different to 'brake'. It was only afterwards when I said the sentence in my head that I actually understood what he was saying. I wasn't being intentionally pedantic, that was just the first thing that came to mind. I know some people have trouble spelling and it's not about that, it just irritates me when people make no effort to make their posts legible. Particularly when most browsers have built-in spell checkers. P.S. I realise that break/brake isn't picked up by spell checkers.
  3. Yeah. I don't know anyone who didn't get into trials by starting messing around on their old rubbish mountain bike bike or something. The show gives the impression that anyone who rides trials must be some spoilt little rich kid who has $2000 to spend on a hobby they've never tried before. Also they seemed to be saying it's the bike, not the rider which we all know is utter rubbish. Yeah, a £70 full susser probably will break pretty easily but if you were good enough I bet you could do 90% of the trials in that video on a £200 mountain bike.
  4. Break fluids? I like, coffee, tea, or sometimes just water. Oh, you meant brake You can use pretty much anything. Magura blood, Vegetable oil, Water. Water feels good, is cheap, and is very easy to bleed with if you follow those instructions (you don't even need a bleed kit).
  5. It's so if it detects a knock or a fall, it moves the hard drive heads so there's no damage to the data when it hits the floor. So if it gets knocked off a table or something, it stands a better chance of surviving.
  6. I don't know, but whenever there is a problem with my Mac, I go on disk utility and 'repair permissions'. I have no idea what it does, but it seems to fix most stuff. Give it a try
  7. It's a pretty lame idea to be honest, but then asking on a forum for personal gift ideas is lame too Anyway, what about a stethoscope? Good ones are fairly expensive, and you can choose loads of colours. Even if she has one, you could always get another one so she can mix and match colours depending on what she's wearing... http://www.medisave.co.uk/3m-littmann-stet...-c-121_128.html

No, the cover is not always the same. You'd have to find the policy. Or just ring them?!

How the hell would any of us know what the small print of your policy is? Just go read it...?
  10. There's a good amount of fire-related stories in here. Here's mine. When I was about 9-10 I lived in a small village in the countryside and there wasn't always a lot to do. I was slightly obsessed with fire, and me and my mate used to start fires out of dry grass etc, obviously they weren't very good. One of my jobs I did to help out at home was to mow the lawn, I quite liked doing that. Anyway, the lawnmower uses petrol and there was a spare fuel can in our garden shed (you can probably see where this is going). So, one day we stole a couple of empty jars from the kitchen, filled them up with petrol, and took them to one of the fields near my house. We started a few fires by drawing lines with petrol and then setting them alight, which was quite cool. Then I came up with the genius idea of filling one of the jars up with petrol, and then setting it alight whilst still in the jar. Then the game was to take a few steps back, then run up and boot the burning jar across the field, at which point all the petrol would come out and start a nice patch of fire in the field. I don't know how neither of us got severely burnt by the petrol, that was such a stupid idea. Good times

  12. What is it with people thinking that TF has the answer for medical problems? No one could diagnose anything over the internet, especially with that amount of information. Jaffacakes you probably mean IBS? Could be that, could also be a hundred other things. If it's still troubling you, go and see your GP and discuss it with them.
  13. WLTM friendly kind man who likes hugs and walks in the snow.
  14. Wow, that's nuts! http://www.instantrimshot.com/
  15. I've been to 2 Alps before, yeah. It's fairly big so there plenty of stuff going on. Pretty standard resort really, can't say it was that memorable. But still good fun. Yeah it's probably worth getting the bus to D'Huez for one day. When I went (A few years ago), the week pass for 2 Alps actually gave you a free day at Alp D'Huez so all you pay for is the bus. So definitely worth it if you can do that - I seem to remember that Alp D'Huez was fun. Mind you, a 16km black run sounds like a pile of shite to me. Black runs are either steep or full of moguls, and given that this one is apparently 16km long, it's unlikely to be very steep. So, er, just a load of moguls on a shallow gradient, then
  16. Pretty much most places I've been have at least one or two bars like you're talking about. Some places are aimed more upmarket than others, with expensive hotels and posh bars, whereas other resorts can be more yoof-friendly. There's often one of each kind in a ski area. E.g. in Espace Killy, Tignes is supposed to be a cool trendy place for young-uns and Val D'Isere is a bit posher. But to be honest it's much of a muchness, go anywhere moderately big and there will be plenty to do

Pfft, go and watch The Simpsons episode Homer vs. Dignity now. All will be revealed. Admittedly that was a bit abstract...

  19. What Tappets said. Also, in the paths palette there should an option for 'stroke path' which will turn your path into a 'real' line (on the active layer). You can also convert it into a selection etc. I suppose this would be useful to know if you had already traced a complex path and didn't want to have to redo it.
  20. Er, no. I don't know if you got the words confused but there's no such thing. The appendix is part of the colon so your term 'colonic appendix' doesn't make any sense since every normal person would have a 'colonic appendix'. Perhaps you're thinking about a retrocaecal appendix?
  21. I'm not being funny but you've just made up the name of a medical condition. Reason #43 why TF isn't the best place for medical advice, particularly in something potentially serious.
