  1. what he's getting at is that if you use a steeper head angle, you can then use a shorter stem (which looks better) while keeping the same reach. The only issue would be getting the correct bar height as the shorter the stem, the lower is usually is. You could use a longer head tube and headset spacers to get the same bar height as a mod stem though, also a lower bb would mean the bars wouldn't have to be as high but you will sacrifice rear wheel control. I've always wondered why trials bike have slack head angles and super long stems, why not make the head angle steeper, lengthen the reach and use a shorter stem? If your hands end up in the same position then the head angle won't feel any steeper for roll downs, but it will feel nicer when turning.
  2. pretty sure they've got the geo mixed up with the mod, not even saying that as a joke, I actually think that's what has happened.

I'm used to good pads that don't need me to

I had someone tell me that once, I had a go on their bike and I had them slip out when I tried to backwheel a wall. I think he thought they were good because they had lots of bite and made a loud noise,

tgs is different than pure trials....but whatever. Sweet vid Tom
  6. It's not the bar angle, the front end just looks soooo low! I think your style and riding would be vastly improved with a higher front end. As it is, you're really hunched over which looks really weird.
  7. the only thing similar is the wheelbase, even a couple of mil out on anything else will make it ride completely differently.
  8. discs normally operate on a different mechanical advantage than rim brakes
  9. It's really not, 10mm longer chainstays = big difference, -10mm bb = big difference and I suspect the head angle is slacker too.
  10. guy on the mod at the start has the lowest bars I've seen for a long time, and thus, one of the worst styles I've seen for a while too. Rest of the video was ok, classic Euro video with dance-style music but the riding was pretty baller.
  11. it will still be under powered compared with a Hope lever and you'll still have to swap some seals.
  12. 9mm piston on Hopes = more power than a 14mm piston on Magura
  13. doesn't seem too bad to me
  14. well, they weren't actually a trials frame, they were mtb dirt jump frames, but they were cheap so people used them for trials too.

    National Lottery

I don't play, but I saw interviews while the Olympics were on and a lot of the athletes were thanking the national lottery for the funding they received. I must admit I see it all in a better light now.

Highlight for me was the hop up to manual on ledge to 180 off, that was slick! Slightly disappointed he's gone down the path of the tailwhip drops though, he's got such a cool way of riding and looking at things it seems a shame he's not invented some cool new move that know one had though of before. he did do them pretty well though. Oh yeah, totally should have entered GETcreative!
  18. the thing is, a the thing is, a test like that would only test the brake in one direction (IE forwards). Going forwards and having the brake work well (bite) is all well and good for back hopping down slopes, some drop gaps and impressing your friends, but you need a test that allows for backwards power too, like for landing hooks, gaps, taps, sidehops, most natural etc. This is why the magura/v brake argument happens because some people prefer bite as it gives them confidence whereas some people are willing to sacrifice a bit of bite in order to gain better braking power for when you really need it. You just can't beat a v brake for sheer holding power, if I was to build up a bike for comps/tgs I would ride a rear vee without question. As for discs, I was pleasantly surprised by the Magura MT2, it's pretty dam light and comfy yet pretty high on stopping power. I'm not a huge fan of Hope brakes, I've had nearly ten sets now and they all work fine for about 3-4 months, then they just go downhill and I've never found a way to get them working like new again. This has happened nearly ten times! Saints are VERY good, but quite weighty and don't have a split bar clamp (on the newer ones they do though). They suffer a bit from pad wobble, but the power is definitely up there with the best.
  19. did you not see him totally dead sailoring it?
  20. he ate shit! Lucky not to break his legs
  21. I find it ok, but I do bunnyhop into them.
  22. reminds me of a badger
  23. Don't forget the Martyins, Rey, Akkers, Tongue etc. I assume you had your eyes shut while watching Danny's videos? There's no other way you could have missed the sidehops, gaps, hooks, backwheeling, up to fronts he does in his videos.
