Why Do You Boys Do It To Your Self?
Krisboats replied to old boy chez's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
I'm going to be entirely honest and blunt with you here, but you come across as a condescending, patronizing, wanker. You're probably not, but given that you keep referring to everyone as boys thats how it appears when you read through what you've written. Combine that with you not paying attention to what people say and i think you can understand why you're receiving the slightly hostile responses. So you've had an experience with a malfunctioning piece of equipment, it's no biggy. I had my maguras bled with oil once and the seal died in the slave and i replaced it. I'm not going to go around suggesting that all oil bleeds are bad. I've also had a water bleed for the last 2-3 years, in which it's been bled twice, maybe three times and i've had no problems other than a snapped pad retention pin on the slave. I can't see where anybody has said that metal springs can't rust, or that there aren't springs inside the lever body. But many people have said that the spring in the lever will not rust if it's bled properly. I've not observed mine over time so can't say for sure but it seems a lot of people are working under some very big misconceptions. Metal will rust when in contact with both water and air. If a brake is bled properly there shouldn't be air pockets in the line and as such it shouldn't be prone to rusting. It will probably rust over a long time, but in that time frame the brake will most likely need replacing anyway due to component-intensive the nature of the sport. Someone also mentioned the way sunken ships rust. Again, this does happen but it happens over a very long time and most of the time the sunken ships being referred to are in salt water, which is much more corrosive than deionized or even regular tap water. People wanting the best possible performance often choose a water bleed because of the way it acts and feels. It isn't just trials where this performance:longevity ratio is altered by the user, people overclock computers for more speed at the expense of a longer life, race car tyres are formulated for more grip over durability and even brake pads vary in terms of performance and life. At the end of the day people want different things and as such are willing to make informed sacrifices in order to gain what they want to achieve. -
The guy has an issue with the computer that is so serious it keeps dying on him and flashing errors upon startup. His first solution is to ask on a biking forum with no mention of having looked on google, a first port of call for even non technically-minded users. Then you come along and try to promote a notoriously tedious and computer literate OS presumably because you're some fanboy kid (based on the avatar) and it's what you use. Being a family laptop and that this guy doesn't really know what he's doing it's not really a win option is it... hence the fail.

Suggestion fail. Here you go...

Well it was written on the side of the tyre and on the tag on the shelf so yeah, i'm sure.

Teenage Angst Communal Agony Aunt Thread

Agreed, she either wants to let you know how she feels but is too afraid to come straight out and say it or she's trying to find out how you feel about her by sending you that and hoping you'll tell her everything. My guess is she digs you and is hoping you feel the same and the anticipation of not knowing for sure is eating at her a bit so she's trying to find out right away to stop her thinking about it so much. If you want it to go somewhere don't tell her yet, at least not in so many words. Curiosity builds attraction so use little hints to keep her thinking of you and all will be good. -
Second one down, 250hz pro. You want one with a screen but probably not one with lights. I just got one with lights and i swear it gives you a lower score than non light ones. Get it from play.com though, much cheaper. Think i bought mine from amazon.co.uk the other week for just £15 with free delivery. It was with me within 24 hours too.

£24 for a 2.5 i think. I'm fairly cerain it was 2.5 but i looked at quite a few that day. Halfords are crap, they told me the other day they had tried to get in barrel adjusters for rear mechs but never found where to buy them from. Hmmm, who makes rear mechs? Maybe try shimano?

Yep, she's driving the rental van there! I'm not dragging her along... it was her idea to come and she's really looking forward to it.

It's a source engine game, you can manage the same framerates that you're currently getting with an 8800gt.

:$ I accidentally clicked the sticky button at first but once i realised i igured it wouldn't hurt for this to be stickied until the 25th. It's a good game and everyone likes free stuff so i didn't think anyone would complain.

I just want to highlight something here.... Don't suppose you wear one of these on a regular basis do you?
-
I'm not saying or convinced it's water that's the problem.

Seeing as you seem to know so much about how to bleed a brake i guess there's not much point in telling you this but if you bleed it and pull the lever and there is zero movement whatsoever you've got one of two problems. 1. The bleed isn't any good. You've got air trapped in there somewhere and it's compressing more than the water meaning the movement of the slaves isn't correctly proportional to the displacement of the lever. If its the bleed at fault and there is zero slave movement then that's a lot of air, not just bubbles here and there. Unless its.... 2. A big old leak. Not just a small leak, as a small leak with a perfect bleed would still see piston movement as you displace the fluid in the lever. If there was zero movement you'd know exactly where the leak is because it'd be spraying out of a hose or streaming from a seal/barb. If the water "creeped out" the master cylinder then the slaves would still move a little and move progressively less as the water leaked out of the system. It might be a combination of the two, but you say you know what you're doing so it can't be that as it was a perfect bleed and seeing as you've currently contradicted yourself with what you've written i won't waffle on as i'm not entirely convinced there's much point in going into so much detail. Instead i'd merely suggest you re-read post number 2....

I've got a 2.35 kenda on the back of my new steed. Seems grippy enough but it's crap at flinging off squelchy mud, which is surprising as it's currently half worn through the tread. Managed to fall into a squelchy bit of mud at the bottom of a run on thursday and it just stuck to the tyre, was still on there after about a half mile of tarmac! I was in halfords earlier and liked the look of the conti der kaiser but wasn't sure about its thickness.

That phrase certainly caught my attention, though possibly not for the right reasons I take it Pussy are a sponsor or event organiser or something of the sort? Regardless, that's a very good achievement. I hope it goes well for them and that they enjoy the time in the sun. Do they get to watch the racing behind the scenes with those VIP passes once they're done riding?
-
They're a decent frame. Nice and strong, pretty good shape just a tad on the heavy side. Mind you for £70 i wouldn't be worried about cutting holes all over the place... oh wait, i have! My other thought was belt sanding a load of metal from the tubes to thin them down a bit and try to save some weight on it that way. Just too damn lazy to de-build the thing.

Rub it in then To be honest, mirroring what tomm said the shimano brake has actually really surprised me. It feels smoother, has a much more definitive bite and fades less than the juicy 3. In fairness the juicy needs a bleed and i think the pads were/are contaminated so it's not really a decent comparison but the shimano happily endos me as i'm leaning over the back wheel and i'm well over 200lbs. At the minute both wheels modulate pretty damn well and will lock up happily so hopefully it'll be the same when i'm out later in the week. Main concerns at the minute are new stiffer fork spring and sorting the gears. As soon as i get paid again i'll be looking at upgrading things. New cranks arms, pads/rotors, pedal bearings, bottom bracket and grips. Possibly brakes as well but that'll be a whilee as i'd have to get something really swish in order to justify changing them. Avid codes maybe?
-
Yeah, it's in lovely condition. Just a few things needed greasing and re-tightening and the mission control on the forks had locked up so needed sorting out but for £600 it was an absolute steal. I mean the cost of the forks alone takes up the majority of that budget if i was to sell it so overall i'm a very happy bunny. Think i have a session lined up for later on this week with a mate from back home so that should be great. Been watching this as well and just really want to get out on it now!

Well i was going to post up the kona shred but pikeys ruined that plan so i decided to get a replacement toy, which i picked up last night. Most people think they're ugly as sin but i've always had sort of a thing for them and wanted one since i first saw one. The guy who had it before me had it all set up for a small person so i've been trying to tweak it for a giant like myself. Took the forks apart today and they have the standard weight spring in them so i'm gonna have to chuck a red one on order tomorrow before i road test it later in the week. Rear brake could do with a bleed as well i think as the lever is a tad mushy. 2007 Kona Stinky frame (fox van r rear shock) Rockshox Totem coil forks (mission control, external rebound) Shimano something front brake which is surprisingly powerful Juicy 3 rear brake Pro 2 hubs front and rear on sun s-type rims gap DH bar/stem Truvativ cranks Blackspire chain guide set dmr v12's

Thought i'd save time and predict how this was panning out.

Would You Like A Bike-Trials Online/Tv Show?
Krisboats replied to Mat Tea Why's topic in Trials Chat
Thats the one i was thinking of, no wonder nothing came up with giacomo trials adventure My memory really is shit sometimes! -
What happened at 1.06?
-
Yep, it was okay in HD, but brilliant in 3d. It was so amazing because they pioneered a new 3d technology just for this film and they did a damn good job of it. Next film to feature it is the new resident evil one i think.

Would You Like A Bike-Trials Online/Tv Show?
Krisboats replied to Mat Tea Why's topic in Trials Chat
There's a show with one of the coustellier brothers that's aired on extreme sports and seems to be popped on youtube for the ones that miss it. He tours around all sorts of places meeting all sorts of people. Can't for the life of me remember what it's called though. I wouldn't watch a bmx video, theres hundreds already. But a trials/street one yes.
