Star Nuts do come in a few different sizes to cope with varying thicknesses of Steerer tube. There isnt alot in it though. Also you might find if the star nut has been used the fins will have bent inwards, making the diameter smaller.

its something that annoying people do in the vain attempt that the crappy product they are trying to sell that no one wants stays in the way so long that somone eventualy buys it. Not because they want it, because they are so damn annoyed of seeing the same topic at the top of the page with 2 pages of the word bump. If someone wants what your selling, they will buy it.

I went to Spain with the Mrs last year, Cost about £280 each, tha included 7 day pas to Portaventura - Quality Theme park, loads of cool rides, including an 8 loop rollercoaster. Im like you, dont liek sammy crap, but we went to Salou, which wasnt too bad, plenty of varyied things to do, nice beaches, semi quiet night life, with the loud chavvy bars iof you like that sort of thing. Also not to far from Barcelona if you want some city action. Failing that go to Kiev In Ukraine, and get on a day trip to Chernobyl. Thats hopefully my next holiday.

Its nothing too new, trials seems to have waves. There will be a point where everyone is doing it, then sudenly everyones quit. When I 1st started (1999) I saw 2 other people riding, then during my 1 couple years we would ride with about 10-15 riders every week, and that was just local people. Group rides would eaily double that. Now im lucky if I dont have to ride alone, everyone has sold their bikes, done other things. But then this happened a while back, then people started again, they bough newer bikes and came out once more. Not looking as hopefull these days as all of the riders round here are too old, got jobs and homes to look after. Trials was also alot better years ago because it was harder. in 99 all you could ride was a small XC bike or a Cannondale if you were rich. There was 2/3 VHS videos to watch, and learning new things took months. Now look, you can pick an off the peg trials bike for £200, find 100,000's videos online. Ive seen people riding for as little as a year become better than me. Riders now watch a couple vids of someone good, and copy it. Look at what happened when Craig Lee Scott hit the Scene, He was picking over things, then suddenly so was everyone else, Neil tuniclife went bigger, people followed. Trials moves are becoming Fads: Picks, taps, sidehops, tap-90 ect And what the hell is all this TGS??, what does it even mean? What hapened to people going riding with no knowlage and learning by accident? Trial was more fun when it was hard

If you have sbapped it in 3 places then the frame is not strong enough for your ability of riding. Get a stronger frame

What Does Every One Think Of The New Rule Changes?
trials_pimp replied to mr_malcolm's topic in Trials Chat
#For those of us who dont read MBUK what was the rule change? -
Those are the Original Maguras. They have a bigger piston and way to much material. No good for trials use,
-
They are good for the front, had mine on there for about 2 years now. For the rear I would recamend the Michein DH 24 2.5 Almost puncture proof, and very grippy. Only down side is weight, if your bothered about it.

Got sent this today: Dear Sir/Madam, My name is Sgt Jeef Smith I am an American soldier with Swiss background, serving in the military with the army’s 3rd infantry division. With a very desperate need for assistance, I have summed up courage to contact you. I found your contact particulars in an address journal. I am seeking your kind assistance to move the sum of ( $ 25 million u.s. dollars ) Twenty Five million united states dollars to you, as far as I can be assured that my share will be safe in your care until I complete my service here, this is no stolen money, and there are no danger involved. Source of money: Some money in various currencies was discovered in barrels at a farmhouse near one of Saddam’s old palaces in Tikrit-Iraq during a rescue operation, and it was agreed by staff Sgt Kenneth buff and I that some part of this money be shared among both of us before informing anybody about it since both of us saw the money first. This was quite an illegal thing to do, but I tell you what? No compensation can make up for the risk we have taken with our lives in this hell hole. Of which my brother in-law was killed by a road side bomb last week. You will find the story of this money on the web address below; The above figure was given to me as my share, and to conceal this kind of money became a problem for me, so with the help of a British contact working here and his office enjoy some immunity, I was able to get the package out to a safe location entirely out of trouble spot. he does not know the real contents of the package, and believes that it belongs to a brithish/american medical doctor who died in a raid here in Iraq, and before giving up, trusted me to hand over the package to his family in united states. Now this where you come in this if you are willing to assist me in this transaction, the money has been packed as family valuables and it will be delivered to America in two days, if you are willing to assist me in this venture you are advised to get back to me with your complete contact information which will be forwarded to the diplomat who is carrying the said consignment. He will contact you on your direct phone number for the clearance of the consignment from the homeland security at J.F.K international airport, after that the consignment will proceed to your home which is the final destination, note that it is not a must that you should assist me in this transaction but if you are willing and sincere to help me out in this transaction be rest assured that this transaction is 100% risk free and it does not contradict the laws of any country. Indicate your interest in assisting me as well as Providing the following information to facilitate the smooth conclusion of the Transaction. 1) Your Full Name: ------------------------------------------ 2) Your Address: --------------------------------------------- 3) Your Telephone Number: --------------------------- 4) Your Fax Number: -------------------------------------- 5) Your Mobile Number: --------------------------------- 6) Any photo copy of your identity------------------- 6) The Name of the Closest Airport to your City of Residence: ------------------------------------------------------ Reply to jeef_smith@hotmail.com (note: Hovering over the link goes to some wooky site) God Bless Sgt Jeef Smith Serriously, how many people are actually going to be stupid enough to fall for something this stupid. Im almost tempted to reply with a stongly, big worded reply

The problem being is most frames need the mech hanger to correctly locate the wheel. You can use a 74 Kingz style chain tensioner, that wll sit between the frame and hub, You can use a Onza Mech saver, which will at least help strengthen your mech/hanger assembly. There is also tensioners like the Gusset one that bolt across the Mech hanger and wheel bolt, making snapping the hanger almost imposible Or you could try using nothing but a short chain, but the problem on vertical drop outs is the the chain will never really be the perfect tension, its either too tight or too loose, and can damage the cogs if its too tight,

Ah its great fun, and really confusing. Hardest part is stopping your domiant foot trying to take over

Sell your bike and get another one. Try a completely differnt build to what you have. Try swapping to a Mod if you ride stock, or vice versa Maybe even have a go on 24" What about starting again, with your other foot? Making trials hard again, and have the incentve to learn once more? Or even something as simple as trying another style of riding, go UCI, Full street, BIU, Manifesto ect

I was mearly supplying an Illistative Reference to a previous Post. I in no way condone Suicide. If you really dont want to live, let someone else help, its more sporting. Maybe Dress Up like a Lion and Run around in the woods, While the dress Up like an Old Britsh Hunter, the ones with the cool hats, and hunt you down with a Blunderbus. Im not going to take sides, im sure each has his story to tell ect, and I dont think any less of anyone, but damnit this has turned quite funny. Specialy all the people who have nothing to do with this trying to get the worthless 10 pence in

Been riding my Gu for a while now (06 one) and its got an Echo Hifi 140x45 stem on it, which according to tartybikes is the correct stem for it. Does anyone ride one of these frames with a lower stem on, and how to they ride? Been thinkning about doing it for a while, as the front end is pretty high, but then so is the BB. Is a low stem going to ruin the way the frame rides, and am I right in thinking my weight is going to be to far forward with a low stem? Also havent been able to find a 140mm stem with a lower rise, as I like the amount of reach it has.

I dont think its as Scinetific as that. Its to do with how you pull the rear end of the bike up with your feet. If you notice it or not, when you pick the back end of your bike up, your using your feet to do so. What happens is you point your feet down, and push back and up on the pedals, like a scoop. Your feet wont fall off because they are being pushed into the pedals, and the grip on the pedals helps transfer that effort into lifting the bike. It was like the time someone I knew used to think to bunny hop you had to pull the bars up, then push them down really quickly to bring the back end up, wrong its all in the feet. Try any trials move whie keeping your feet straight (chances are you cant, its insticnt by now) and youll fall off the pedals.

Crank pullers are fantastic, but not much use when the bolt is stick on the Axle. The best method for getting rounded Allen KEys out is to use a Male Torx Bit. FOr 8 mm you will need T50 or T55 depending on how rounded it is. All you need to do is tap the Torx bit into the bolt, and undo. Simple.

Was a very impressive video, with Skillfull riding. But where do you stop and say "I need a BMX"

Need A Bit Of Help On What To Upgrade To
trials_pimp replied to 2k8-looney's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
With £500 you could easily build yourself a nice mod bike. You could build a really good bike with carefull budgeting and a mix of new and second hand parts. Allways worth keeping an eye on the sales section here, mayeb even PM people if you cant post there (not sure if you can PM as a pre member) I would reccamend the Adamant A1 or the GU, both ride very nicely -
I have used this Alias for 9 years, on many forums: trials-forum, since almost day 1 MBUK Trialskings Biketrials.com Section 7 And a few more that died a death Either you know me, or you dont, and to those who dont GOOD

It could work, maybe have a small round plate with the 3 pin holes in with an M8 hole in the middle, with a small straight peice with an M5 hole in to go in the top 4 bolt mount to stop it twisting and loosing spring tension. The problem being is M8 is going to be right on the limits of the material of the Magura mount on the frame, and with the forces of braking could leave it very suseptable to cracking or braking off. Its a bit of a counter-evolution, as trails frames spent years to get 4 bolt mounts on them, and with the amount of people using maguras I cant see many manufactureres going back to post mounts. There are still a few frames left, like the Phase 1.3 (same as the other frames but with post mounts) I cant see trials taking a step back and everyone going back to V brakes, not when Maguras are currently so good, and now the Echo brakes have got a foot in the choise is better than ever.

Plazmatic Has been around since 1995, I make that 12/13 years (depending on month) Unless its the 10th aniversary of making pads, not just making trials Braking aids. I know that the yellow pad color was originaly a mistake in the maunfacturing process, and it was intended to be another color, but I cant remember what that was. My Guess is going to be Blue for the answer to this competition.

Chris Akrig Doesnt actually ride a Mongoose. Its a Charge Frame

Am I Alone As A Frustrated South West Spectator?
trials_pimp replied to Joe 90's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
The best thing to do would be contact the Event organiser. They will have all the details for you. There isnt a great deal of trials events going on at any time, and even less in the south of the country. Im sure there is no problem what so ever for you to go and spectate a couple events, maybe even enter a few, it makes no difference how good you are or not, its just about having fun, and looking at new ways to approch things.
