How Do You Post On Full Member Stuff Or Become A Full Member
trials_pimp replied to TJ.'s topic in Beginners Trials Chat
This is why you should read the guidlines ect before you post. Its not like they are hard to see. You can only post here until you have proven that you are of some use to us. Read the Guide, read the sticky, read the tips. -
80% of good paintwork is all in the preperation. Strip the old paint off, Clean the frame THOROUGHLY with warm water and soap, or a pressure washer if you have access sand the frame down and clean again Key the frame with a good quality sandpaper, again clean after Use a good primer, this will give a good base for the paint Leave the primer to dry somehwere warm, preferably airing cupboard or atleast indoors. Paint doesnt like to dry well in the cold. Apply paint, take your time, let it dry for a while between coats, again somewhere warm After the last coat let it dry in the warmest place you can find, for at leat 24 hours. let the paint harden nicely If you going to laquer, stick a couple coats on, again leave to dry in nice warm are for another 24 hours Then after all that hard work, build your bike up, go ride and scratch it all back off. Alternitivley, have the frame powercoated. Take alot less time, costs less, less effot, more resistant to scatche. I had my forks powdercoated for £10. All I had tyo do was strip them 1st. I left them there in the afternoon and picked them up next day. Just look in the yellows for a place and ask nicley

Diamondback Kabuki Mono Are They Good
trials_pimp replied to bradnutter's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
One of my Mates has one, and hes only just starting out. He gets on fine with it, learning pretty quick For the price its not a bad Bike. Also consider the Phase Bikes, they are nice to ride, and start from as little as £250. -
If you Enjoy riding it then its a good bike. As for sale value dont expect Alot. Da Bombs arent exactly Sort after bikes. Youve got a few good parts on there, but nothing too special. If you want a new bike then use the good bits off that one to build it and chuck the rest on Ebay, if you dont want to ride anymore then ebay is also your best bet. If you stick it on here for sale all you would get is people asking you to split it for the cranks and rear brake.

its not eve been a day and this thread is full of pricks. How many of you know what a Universal hammerhead is (without google) There are plenty of bikes out there that meet your needs, IE Onza Woodstock. Just look about. Tartybikes is allways good to see what bikes are out, and thy allways have the geo up

It would for the simple fact that those 5 kids will probly get away with a slap on the wrist and be back out and doing the same thing to other people. They wont learn anything from that experience, except that they can get away with it because this country is too damn soft. Makes me sick. People like that need conciquencial Punishment, ie they each should have the shit kicked out of them by 5 people and not be able to defend themselves.

I work for an Automotive Engineering works (Ricardo) and the whole site is chock a block with lines From the Fuel farm to the test cells, rails gaps walls shelters ect. Im sure I could ride here for weeks, but im also sure I would loose my job Also I cant take any pictures, My work is covered by the official Secrets Act

1st thing I would check are the drop outs on the forks. Are the streched, damaged ect. Then have a look on the Hub, of the mounting faces, around the axle, there should be a serrated edge to grip the forks, if thats worn away it wont help matters. Check the same on the Skewer, make sure its not over streched, and the mounting faces still have the serrated edges on them. Also dont over tighten the skewer. I would advise Using Cheaper Shimano Skewers, they seem to be stronger and give better grip with lower torque on the Screw 1 more simple thing, make sure everything is clean and dry.

DAMN you got served. Well said sir, As for the Braks, Water bleeding only works for Magura Rim Brakes. I would advise against using anything but DOT Approved Brake fluids for disc brakes unless otherwise stated by the manufacturer. Ironic I know, as Magura do say only use mineral oil, but the contruction and materials of the brake doesnt raise any technical or saftey related issues when doing so. I have run water in my Magura for 4 years and its been fine, and still is. You will find the brake more responsive and find improvemants in feel.
-
Why are you trying to preach that water is the satans Juice of Maguras? Is this your 1st Job in a bike shop and have been reading the instruction Manuals, so now quoting them on here is going to make you seem like a true expert? Maguras are made of Aluminium, most of the seals are plastic, the others ae rubber. Water does not damage any of those materials. My Magura has had water in it for 4 years, its run perfectly for that time, and Ive known maguras to run for linger with it in. Water has the added bonus': Its thin and not compressable, meaing a fast reponcive brake with minamal flex Its not a contaminant, meaning if you do splt a hose and it spills on your rims and pads you wont spend hours getting it off, and wont have to bin your pads. Its Free Diesel WILL NOT rot maguras. Car fuel lines dont perish from Diesel fuel, they perish from constant heat changes, Engine oil contaminaltion, age and weathering. Bikes dont suffer from these things. However, Bio-Diesel will rot the seals, and will cause damage, as that isnt as safe to use as regular, and is still in the Experimental stages of testing as a suitable seal material hasnt been found. There is no reason Diesel wont work, just make sure it doesnt come into contact with any braking surfaces, becasue it wont be easy to get off. As said before, Diesel ISNT flamable. It is combustable, but unless your reaching approx 100 Bar pf pressure on your brake your going to be ok.

Unfortunalty thats just the nature of "new" style Bikes. The Long low frames are good for trials use, but arent so good for street style moves like manuals. It can be done but is alot harder. With a frame like that you should find hopping gapping ect alot easier, but if you want to stick with manuals and flowing moves than the best bet would be a move to 24" Its not like the old days when a "trials" bike could be used for everything, now each style of bike is pidgeon holed into its catagory, as it simply isnt set up for other styles of riding.

the tar on roads is tarmack, it wont work, you want neat bitchumen best place is building yards, you could allways ask nicely, as a peice about 1" square will last literaly years

I have found that 1/2 link chains are very weak. a rider on my team snapped 1 twice in 1 day, shearing 2 links. There is a weak point on the chain where the bend is in each link
-
Yes 25 is one of the "lower premium" ages
-
You dont need any heat, that would make the tar too sticky. The best method for applying tar is as follows: Suport bike and Spin required Wheel with hand Holding tar in free hand gently contact tar to sidewall of rim Repeat for other side if extra brake force is needed. Its as simple as that, just run the block of tar along a wheel as it spins. To much tar will just make your brakes stick on, and thats bad. Dont se too muc pressure on the tar, just gently let it contact the rim as it spins, your only looking for a light coating, not a layer. You dont want to paint the rims
-
Also Try tightening it slightly 1st then undo it. Sometimes if the threads are stuck in 1 direction this will free it off

1) you have the most ironicly named car in the world. 2) NWood you f**king hero 3) Its a pretty vauge description of events, and its allmost impossible to diagnose a car without seeing/hearing it. Revs hanging up could be a number of things: Idle Speed Control Valve sticking Air Leak Ect When you say the car seemed extreemly hot by the thermostat, are you refering to the temp gauge on the dash? If the temp gauge is reading high and the engine is cold (you say it was only cold air, do you mean from the vents or generally the air in the engine bay?) The temp sender could be knackered, if your car is new chances are the temp gauge is reading what the PCM is seeing, and the engine is getting to hot at the point of the sender unit and the engine is going into LOS the stop it from overheating and casuing damage to itself. If it isnt a relitivly new can then that wont be the case. You could have a cooling system blockage, which is causing localised boiling of the coolant. Could even be that the head gasket has failed and the engine is running on its own oil, Effect os this are alot worse on a diesel car. The Smoking Would also be an indication of this. Start the car with the Coolant bottle cap off, then rev the engine, if coolant comes spraying out then its definatly the Head Gasket. If it doesnt that doesnt mean it isnt, that just 1 simple at home check for you. Also check for any oil in the coolant and vice versa. Not really much else to sugest without seeing the car.

If you wanted to know, Lidl are currently selling Bike bits this week. Mostly Shoes, socks, shirts and shorts. They did have a range of Selle Royal Saddles, a Bike hanger for £3.99 and a £25 Unicycle. Hopefully they will do the tool kits again
