  1. Pictures for Portsmouth street ride Sunday the 30th December 2012. Riders: Andrei Burton Paul Turner Luke Walder Photo credit Dan Sharpe - http://www.flickr.com/photos/dlsharpe/
  2. Just a few clips I've put together since changing to 26" in November. Nothing amazing but really pleased with how 26" is going and looking forward to 2013 https://vimeo.com/56561240
  3. Frame stiffness, wider spaced hub flanges offer a better strength wheel build etc + less limitations for possible future designs may be? if not 150mm then may be adapt to the 143mm standard. If they were making a rear hub may be also look at a spline fitting rather than threaded for the rear sprocket. That would help with removal of worn rear sprockets and reduce the risks of rear hub threads stripping under load. Wider bb shell will likely need the extra width rear end for chain line etc, the wider bb shell would also help with drivetrain stiffness and tyre clearances. Look at the current frames and how much the chainstays have to kink inwards to join the bb shell. The stuff we use at the moment does do it's job I just wish the trials world had a bit more r&d rather than the same offerings from all the manufactures. Hopefully a large company such as GT could look at trials from a different angle rather than just copying everyone else.
  4. I'd get rid of the threaded cups completely, press the bearing into the frame exactly as the current Echo bb etc just wider at the 83mm bb width like a lot of dh bikes.
  5. Possibly although that would mean no crank options currently available (front freewheel). Also external bb is slowly being phased out at the higher/mid end road/mountain bikes with moves to bb30/press fit bb30 etc. A larger scale (width ways) to an Echo/Spanish press fit would be pretty good in my opinion
  6. Why not? You wouldn't use the same length axel as you'd have in a standard 68mm shell etc. Just imagine something like the Echo press fit bb but on a larger scale with a dedicated axel (just like Echo's)
  7. Really wouldn't be that hard to provide one as part of a frame kit, rear hubs (when using front freewheels) are so basic it'd be easy to make a 150mm one.
  8. I agree that it does work currently but with companys like TryAll developing carbon forks why not use that opportunity to introduce tapered steerer tubes and qr15 front axels? If I was spending £300+ retail on forks I'd want something a bit more to be honest. Imagine if the TryAll carbon forks were more along the lines of the Niner RDO forks? http://www.ninerbikes.com/rdofork It just needs some of the big brands to prove new technology at the higher price points to work, then it will slowly filter down towards the low/mid end stuff.
  9. I think it looks pretty nice to be honest, geo sounds good and I like the old school polished look with the retro styled graphics. I think it's a shame in my opinion that a company as big as GT hasn't pushed a bit towards more modern frame features such as tapered head tube, (run a reducer cup until TrialTech etc start making tapered forks) may be a 150mm backend with a through axel and an 83mm bb shell with a press fit bottom bracket similar to the Echo/Spanish bb. Trials frames are so specific to our sport now yet were still using standards that the rest of the bike industry moved on from ages ago.
  10. Looking forward to hopefully riding all the British and Crowthorne rounds this year
  11. I get really bad arm pump in comps, sometimes to the point of having to use two fingers on the rear brake. It's only on the rear Magura I get it (2005 lever). I've tried different lever angles, bar angles and to relax my hand/grip when I can but nothing really helps Has anyone ever tried a lighter sping in an 05 Magura lever, or found any difference using an 04 or newer 2011 shape levers to be any less prone to causing arm pump? Have looked about on google and seen a few light action springs that are designed for instruiments like trumpets ect that look promising. Be interested to know if a lighter spring has made a difference to anyone. I would possibly be tempted to try a rear v-brake but it's a lot of money to just give it a go if it made no difference.
  12. Just a chilled ride in Worthing today, couple of nice pictures though I'd share
  13. Not sure If i could pic just one sorry, here's a few that all have good memories attached to them The Curtis 24" was my first experience in 24" bikes back in 2006? Really enjoyed this one, but always found it a little heavy so changed the spec a bit when I moved to my next 24" Leeson 609 24" this was my favorite bike I've owned and reminds me of so many good group rides back in the day Then I took a break from trials for a few years and rode bmx,a couple of years ago I restarted trials and went with my roots of a bmx/streety style and got an Inspired Wasn't really feeling the street style and got into more of a compy/pure trials style. Being with 24" for years thought I'd try a Because Simple 24" Then got the weight weenie bug and went to an Echo 24" Rode the 2012 comp season on the Echo before recently moving to 26" with my current Onza Limey 4. Since going 26" my riding has never progressed so fast and I'm really looking forward to the 2013 season
  14. I alway ran 150mm x30' on my 24" with the stem slammed (no spacers) and liked it. However I've now gone 26" and my riding has been progressing faster than ever
  15. I've been using a hose splitter for years now, always used the Monty one before the TrialTech one came out. There pretty good yeah, just a little added extra really though. Just a small amount of Nitromors (paint stripper) on a cloth and it rubs right off. You wouldn't ever know it had a logo on it before no matter how hard you looked at it Nope lol Have run plenty of King headsets over the years on all sorts of bikes. To be honest there no better in terms of durability on a trials bike than an Echo headset etc, on a mtb then maybe due to the quality of the sealing etc but on a trials bike there just overkill. + with the integrated headtube I can get a lower stack hight wich I like So far so good yeah, already beat my personal best on static gaps and sidehops Feels really nice on the back wheel as well, not so much on two wheels though lol
  16. You 100% sure there alloy bolts, could quite likely be titanium? Generally alloy bolts in any load bearing area is a bad idea on a trials bike. If there titanium they'll be fine (make sure there greased or copper slipped) but if there alloy i'd personally change them back to steel or titanium depending on budget. I run titanium bolts in load bearing area's and alloy in non load bearing area's.
  17. Been wanting to change to 26" for a while now after riding 24" for nearly 2 years. 18. When I was younger I'd be on the train every weekend to Bristol, London, Oxford, Reading etc for group rides. Get yourself a young persons rail card and get out there, rides are happening all over the country all the time. Travelings part of the experience and the more you travel around the more riders / new friends you make
  19. I film all my video's with my i-phone 4, a lens and a basic tripod with adaptor. If you've already got an iphone I'd check out the options, only downside is the amount of memory on the phone but that all depends on what model you have eg 16gb or 32gb etc http://www.olloclip.com/
  20. Money sent, your video's always impress
  21. This is my first video back in 2005
