A friend of mine has this frame and his isis Middleburns hit the brake cylinders so had to change his cranks
-
Almost sure it's from 2003?
-
Then buy it else where?
-
Really nice and an impressive weight What do you think of the forks? I was thinking of going front Magura on mine but can't seem to find those forks in stock anywhere
-
Really? I've had no issues with mine and to be honest It's one of the best stems i've owned. If your breaking top caps you must really be doing it wrong, it doesn't take much torque to pre-load a headset. I'd buy another without hesitation Yeah had a Trial tech whilst checking the ride with a mod stem and it never looked right. I'm 5,8'' and the mod stems perfect for me

Make sure you check the driveside chainstay over for cracks before you buy that. Particularly where it joins the bb. I had one of those Megamo's years ago and in cracked in 2 months. Megamo's quality control seemed to be a bit hit and miss in the early days. If it's all good then go for it, maybe change the front brake after a while. Great starter bike though
-
Something I,ve done before is: Boil a kettle full of water, then pour the water over the taper end of the damaged crank arm. The alloy will expand slightly and alowl you to knock the crank are off with a block of wood / hammer. Good luck

Yeah totally agree with you. Not just cranks in the dark ages though. Post mount disk calipers on forks wouldn't go a miss either.

I checked with Middleburn a few weeks ago about these. The issue with fitting them to a trials bike is that the arms don't have enough offset. The internal distance between the arms at the pedal ends is 143mm wich makes them to narrow for almost all trials frames Would be nice to see trials companies using 83mm bb shells imo Judging by the way technology filters down to trials frames were likely to be waiting a while though

Shimano Saint M810 Disc Brake Pads, Which Ones?
narrowbars replied to Laurence--Trials's topic in Trials Chat
I've got a Shimano Xtr M988 on the front. The metalic / sintered it came with are pretty good but I've recently tried Resin and there so much better. Resin over metalic every time. -
Pretty sweet Mark, but sort out the writing on the rear tyre

Does this not seem to be a complete waste of time? How much weight are you really thinking of saving doing this, make sure you way it before and after. If your after a light wheel then surely its not worth starting with a 36h wheel?. Why not build the wheel up and sell it un-modified then start fresh with a lower spoke count and lighter rim? Sounds like it will be one of those types of jobs you wish you never started but good luck with it
-
In all seriousness though would you consider your self generally un-fit? If so maybe take up a different type of exercise as well as trials? Consider a bit of cross country or road riding, if not that then may be look into running or going to a gym. Anything will help even if it's walking places rather than driving.

Wish I could but can't take a full link out of the chain and don't fancy a half link. Sorry about that Dave lol
