  1. That's fair enough, but the general reason that second hands trials bikes don't hold their value is due to the punishment they take and the fact that the majority of trials riders are of a younger age who can't pay what they are really worth; it's artificially dragged down the price of second hand trials bikes and parts. If you looked at any other bike discipline you'd see second hand bikes hold their value much much better. Even looking abroad to America/Canada where you find the majority of riders are older with more money you'll see the 2nd hand market is at a higher price. It's an odd situation but i can't see it changing. On a side note, a new young rider who's parents are going to be buying there first bike will be much more confident in buying a bike from a shop where they get things explained to them and they have some after sales support will look at these as an affordable and good value option. Hence why Onza produce them and do so well with them too.
  2. Might not make a lot of sense to you, but then you don't own the business and I can pretty much guarantee they sell a shed load more lower end bikes than they do top end bikes, so it probably makes a whole lot of sense to them. Saying that a lot of what you say has little to no thought or logic behind it so it's to be expected... Genesis is a lovely bike, good geo, good spec and a nice colour with subtle graphics. Onza have potentially produced a really good seller and i'm sure as a frame it will sell well too.
  3. Really really enjoyed that. Ali is weapons grade, dual disc win. Joe seems to get better every video bessell was good as ever. Throw in a sweet edit, some nice mellow tunes and a few skids and I damn fine video is the result. More please
  4. General rule is ANY modifications made to the car have to be declared, it's not so much it makes any performance difference to the car, but as Luke says it can give them something to latch onto and refuse any claims you may make. Surely it's better to be safe than sorry?
  5. Jardo you may find this shocking, but I'm totally with you on this one your original comment was correct and informative. And on the outside you car purchases may seem odd, but you make money and enjoy doing it and there's nothing odd about that. You can come across as extremely blunt/arrogant at times, but I get the impression you don't know you do/mean to. On car related nonsense, water pump decided to throw its toys out the pram the other day and collapse its main bearing and piss coolant everywhere. So need to sort that b*****d out!
  6. If you weren't so tight on money.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2011-FOX-DHX-RC2-MTB-COIL-REAR-SHOCK-7-875-x-2-25-200MM-x-57-2MM-/290760411070?pt=Cycling_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43b2abc7be#ht_2888wt_1122 It's a bit of an odd size nowadays, most frames have moved to lower leverage ratios and therefore longer stroke lengths. Especially coil shocks for DH bikes, all tend to be 200mm i2i plus, with most newer shocks coming in at 220 to 260mm i2i. You would find more air shocks in that size, but not really what you're looking for. As suggested keep scouring the 2nd hand threads on Pinkbike and the other sites mentioned and you may come up lucky.
  7. It's not a good idea to turn the bike to the side if you're doing it on a slope!
  8. Rear brake off for the flat and on for slopes. All the spring I find comes from the font wheel and compressing your weight over the bars. On slopes if you can time it right it helps to release the rear brake as you spring upwards as it helps the rear wheel to roll up the slope and stops the tyre dragging, then obviously re apply the brake as you land the rear wheel.
  9. BB width is dictated by the frame.... 68/73 on everything but DH mountain bikes. Axle width is really an option with Hollowtech 2 cranks.
  10. Pretty sure there is only one way to take anal...
  11. I will hopefully make the trip up this year. If a few people from this way want to jump in and split the cost
  12. Yeah, even if you gave it to a body shop to prep they wouldn't strip it completely; unless they knew the paint underneath would react with the new stuff. Get a sanding disc out on it!
  13. Hmm mine is the same, I put it down to being a 2 litre lump in a big car, but it's a fairly torquey motor for an N/A petrol, might look at mine too. What engine have you got in yours? Edit: Just done some maths and the last 220 miles, 140 motorway i was seeing 37.1 MPG
  14. In what respect was yours driving poorly jardo? I get about 36mpg in a 70mph motorway cruise.
  15. You sir are incredibly mis-informed/mis-guided/really not in touch with prices of second hand parts outside of TF. He is more than willing to advertise it at any price he wants, just because you believe that it isn't worth it doesn't mean that it's not. I've had quite a few insulting offers for things I have sold and it's all come from younger riders with little money just low balling me. If the price is too high, don't buy it or just save until you can afford it. It's what everyone else has to do.
  16. Sounds good mate, i'll PM you my number cheers.
  17. That's cool, funds i can cover, sunny afternoon may be more of an issue.... It's X plate 520i SE estate, think it's ?Orient blue?, haven't checked the paint code to find out what colour it is exactly yet.
  18. Jardo was that really you? Or was it Nick in using your account?... Nought wrong with a Grandad wagon, i've got the biggest heaviest beast of a grandad wagon and it's beyond under powered (only the 2 litre 6 pot). But strangely enough i love it. How much would i have to persuade you (financially) to give the paint a good going over? It's scratched up to f**k and got about 11 years of London smog engrained into the paint
  19. Quick bit of google gives..... 1080 +45 380 72*
  20. Aye, the TPA on 05 maguras is poo, but a nice shiny metal one and you're sorted.
  21. But you also said that the lever body was made of metal, which it is not. As Mark said magura use a proprietry composite, designed to be lighter and stronger than cast magnesium/alu alloys. Got to say i've never liked the look of the new brakes, i'll be sad when my 05 maguras fail and I can't get any more.
  22. There is no such thing as a Tensile 68 click freewheel, a 60 and the said 96, but not a 68. Probably what he's getting at.Back on topic, it looks like the grease was never flushed out and it's full of crap. Wouldn't blame the freewheel, just a lack of maintenance and know how.
  23. Hmmm not too bad then, can i be cheeky and ask how much you paid for it? The geo is exactly what i'm looking for, it's a toss up between this and an Onza Genesis.... i know which one i prefer the look of, but i've got a feeling i know which one will last longer! How does it ride? Plenty stiff enough? I mean i looks like a heavier sky 2, so in theory should be a similar strength (i imagine its using a lower quality alloy?). Do you know of a manufacturers website?
  24. Got to agree they do look pretty damn ugly!
  25. What's the weld quality like? Do the mounts line up etc? Been considering one of these, looks really nice
