Do look more substantial than the older rims, although the machining and joining doesn't look too tidy, narrow too by other rims. be interesting to see how the hold up and if they hold a grind.
  3. Mike, that looks awesome, loving the HF downtube. two colour anodizing looks neat, think if the graphics were designed by craig and applied in the same way would look awesome. Talking to Andrei at the weekend about this new proto 26" sounds silly light, see how it lasts in Andrei's not so gentle hands really interested in these other frames that are coming out too. Get these Tensile forks out!
  4. really interested as to how this turns out mate, might have to give you one of mine plus some dollar to have a play
  5. Hahaha, if ony it was that simple, i think they're currently using genetically modified goats or sheep, so that a silk of the same structure can be extracted from the milk that they produce. Bit more indepth than tickling a load of spiders til they spew it out. I think, some recent developments have been made in the production of CNTs allowing them to produce them on a much larger scale at a much lower cost. I know they've been developing CNT fabric as an alternative to kevlar stab and ballistic protection vests. A hell of a lot more effective from initial tests.
  6. Pretty sure multi-wall carbon nano tubes have a higher tensile strength and strength to weight ratio compared to spiders silk, its certainly an easier material to manufacture. Some pretty interesting developments in graphene and graphane recently, building processors pretty close the current high speed non-commercial processors that are being used. Could be a viable replacement for the silicon chip. There has also been a development in composite materials, where they have produced a composite that can store an eletrical charge as well as having the required properties to make it suitable to be used for car body work. Hybrid cars that a lighter due to having a composite body and for not needing to have to use heavy batteries.
  7. Looks really nice, much prefer the white ones
  8. Josh don't you have the regular Viz! forks and not the lights?
  9. I know Andrei was saying at the weekend he's getting some new Tensile forks which sound really nice from the description, but he wasn't sure if they were a one off for him or not. Are you looking to produce them any time soon, would be a nice alternative, especially as I've managed to crack my Urbans after 2 months!
  10. Yeah 46 pounds is the cheapest i can find posted on ebay.... bit steep.
  11. Yeah pretty much, the pads are fairly soft so don't need a deep grind. Check the TartyBikes tutorials on their website for a guide on grinding your rim: Grinding Tutorial
  12. You'll find you rim and pads will get covered in a mixture or dirt, aluminium dust and brake pad dust and with a smooth rim this will effect the brake a lot more quickly than with a grind; you should find a nice light sharp grind will work amazingly with those pads
  13. I'm loving that Translucent blue, especially if i can find some paint to match... mine came out as a 55-56cm, mine felt a lil loose in Rowans lid when we tried it on.
  14. I shall check the size of my noggin and get some monies to you Luke, guessing its only in that colour?
  15. Some good stuff in there, enjoyed that, loving the natty
  16. Pretty sure he only does the yellows and the Coust pads now, you may be able to get some snowies by calling him as said.
  17. I like it, looks different, where did you find it?
  18. Got to agree Heatstink yellows are awesome, just minus the tar. Set up properly on a clean rim they work amazingly. Can get them from Heatsink Bikes Steve's getting deliveries out nice and quick at the moment, so no worries there .
  19. Who says you have to use a regular chainring, could just use a a cog like the Heatsink C9 bash.
  20. Looks really interesting Alex, be interested in milling down one of the ones i have at home if it works, either that or modding my Cloud9 bash.
  21. Woah?! Hold up.... Do you have a rind on your rear rim? Has it worn smooth? What pads are you using and how much material is left? Check the grind (if you have one), Clean the rim if not, check the set up and the bleed and check what pads you have and scrub them clean. There's no point just buying new pads when it could be something simple and free to sort.
  22. Think King may have forgotten the [sarcasm][sarcasm/] for that one. But back to the topic, using some initiative would have been the way forward for this matter.
