So when Chai does visit this thread, could he please tell me why he was calling me all morning yesterday? I'm in Poland now

I need to purchase a memory card Looking for something which will be at least 4gb. Needs to be fast and reliable. I'd rather have something with a shorter warranty which won't brake down than a cheap card with lifetime warranty which will loose all my data but will be replaced. This is going to be used in a PDA so it needs to be fairly quick. I've been looking around for these cards but I don't understand their parameters. Some are "x133", "x150", they also mention other things which I don't understand and therefore can't make the right choice. Also, which manufacturers' cards should I not buy? Price is not an issue here but I'd rather not exceed 100 pounds.

You can probably get a hydromechanical device which will do it better than your hand. Remember - machines were invented to do what we found too tiring. -
Only to point out that both ride a similar way, Leech obviously being very much better. As you don't appreciate Denny, I am just giving you an example of a rider which I am sure you appreciate to prove my point

Isn't that pretty obvious?

Only for the majority of the British. Then you've got the rest of the world which rides normally. I do find Shawn Denny a good rider, but there are better riders out there. I think that the answer is simple. Take Denny and one of these hardcore british riders to a spot where there is a big wall and some small walls with gaps etc. The standard rider will tap the highest wall, sidehop it, hook it and go home. Denny will come up with a very creative line on the smaller walls and nail it without correction hops, put some spins and manuals into it and make it look interesting. Whereas trials in the UK (generally) is getting VERY boring because people only try to sidehop higher and gap further. Take the guy on the 26" GU (Matt A.?) and Damon, both are very impressive riders and both can sidehop and tap very high. They do nothing creative - if I watch Damon's video and then Matts video, the only difference I can spot is the looks of the rider and the colour of the bike. People like Denny, Leech and some other USA/Canadian riders keep it an interesting and creative sport which is not only about finding one wall and getting up onto it, but finding many walls and doing them with style and with flow.

Anybody else realized the spark after the failed sidehop in 4:01? Nice video, you're getting smooth at last

1=Maxxis CC rear 2=1 year 3=20" 4=9/10 on natural, 7/10 urban 5=urban concrete/bricks 6=17 7=bouncy, wide, light, 8=very good grip on natural, with a powerful brake gives endless possibilities of hooking and getting up onto steep rocks. Fairly light. Not a winner on urban though. 1=Monty 2.7 2=2 months 3=20" 4=?/10 on natural, 10/10 urban 5=urban concrete/bricks 6=~20 7=bouncy, wide, light, 8=a very very bouncy tire indeed, no rimmage what so ever. Boosts sidehops and grips incredibly well on walls etc. Can't judge how it behaves on natural because I haven't had the chance to ride it yet.

WTF I thought that places as beautiful as that only exist in the Windows wallpaper directory. I really envy you, I'd so much like to visit China one day - but I never will unless my attitude to spending money will change. Very interesting to read about what riders ask about, what they ride on etc. Maybe you want to cover yourself with Zhi frames at the airport, you'll no doubt look like one of these funny machines from Doctor Who. Just stick a handlebar out and they'll definitely let you on the plane without even going through the customs.

I might be a 'tard but I can't see a link? edit: looking good, awaiting the full video

That is too true. These tiny moves make you feel great but the people who watch you ride can't see them. It's more of a personal thing really. I much prefer to tap to manual (even a short one) a lower wall than to tap a high wall almost exceeding my limits and manage it. I also like reducing the amount of correction hops in my riding - another thing that somebody watching you won't realize. But it's the feeling you've done something smoothly that matters.

Immense riding The soundtrack was great despite being used like a million times already Get rid of the wind noise next time.

Enjoyable! Like all of your videos.

Don't say your post is a waste of space - this is a forum and thats what it's all about - making topics and posting in them. Don't do it again. Trials is changing, and it's changing in a way which really annoys me. Most of the new videos are just total shit, with strong people riding their Pythons (more often than not) for even more power. Most of the riding is power-oriented, so the bigger the moves, the cooler you are and the more people admire you. But where has style gone to? Very few people have a style - among about 30 people I've ridden with in the UK, it's only Chai and Staples (yeah, good examples lol), maybe Neil because he's getting incredibly smooth and his riding looks effortless. But most of the remaining riders are just powerhorses and the only things they can do is to sidehop 4 feet and gap 8-9 feet. Most riders are also crazy about tucking their sidehops. I mean, alright it makes things much easier but how much does it take to tuck a 40" wall on a stock bike? We've got people over here which do +47" on a stock and don't need to tuck it - they don't even know how. Just look at the videos - it's only gaps and sidehops, and the better rider will do a front wheel up onto a rail. IMO non-UK videos are a breath of fresh air because the riding is much more interesting and stylish. The majority of British videos is just dropgaps. I hate that more than anything else unless it's a CLS or Neil video - but they set new limits so that's different. Look at TRA's videos - he uses all the techniques that have been invented in trials, and doesn't concentrate on doing just one of them. And the riding spots are much more interesting - not only walls walls walls. Like OBM once wrote - trials is not going to progress if people keep doing front wheel ups onto roadside rails. edit: in one sentence: I don't give a shit about how high people jump, I'm interested in how nicely it's done.

Also need to change my rear rim (05 Echo CNC) and I'll probably be getting a Try-All 2006 which has been remodeled and is apparently much stronger. Don't go for Echo although they have also re-designed their rims. Other good rims? Viz - maybe. DX32 - certainly, but as you said it is quite hefty.

Can't imagine there being a worse freewheel than ENO, so my vote for the worst freewheel goes to WI. Without serious tuning this freewheel was totally unreliable and dangerous to use. Throughout the 6 months I had one, it skipped many more times than an ACS or a 3 quid Dicta freewheel (which didn't skip once). One of my mates totally destroyed the ratchet (wrong word? the inside bit of the chainring with teeth). Can freewheels get any worse? I don't think so.

What happened to the last few pages? Or have I been sleeping (and dreaming about this thread) too much? Jake1516 - Indeed it's gone off, with all the bonuses post can offer (signed for, registered, ems, recorded). Couldn't find a scanner to get them on my computer and had to send them of on thursday so.. well, I'll get some done with my PDA next time, finally got a good photo camera. -
I'm in no position to judge the riding because there are not many things in that video that I'd do myself. And obviously, if I don't like it I should just remove it and forget I ever watched it. Apart from a few large gaps to front wheel which were impressive, I found it reperitive and a bit boring. Gaps, gaps, dropgaps, gaps and from time to time a different move... And with a style that could only be described as anonymous. I very much more enjoy watching videos of ie Baxter whose riding is nowhere near as big, but is very smooth and inventive. You obviously are a very good rider, but you don't stand out from the number of riders who just put loads of power into their moves. Well, that's just my point of view, don't treat it too seriously

This is all true but you really cant get rid of all of it. I remember there being at least two similar topics within the past few months. There is a limit to every bad behaviour but I believe that this limit is rarely exceeded on this forum and if it is, the moderators take care of it. Also, you're probably referring to NMC which indeed is awful. But do we really have to look in there? I haven't for quite a while now.

I'm not really interested in recieving anything, as you wrote - we buy what we need ourselves. So it's a bit different now than it was say 5 years ago. Then I was wanting to get as many cool presents as it was possible, now I'm more interested in giving things to others and making them happy. It's a pity really I've now got one person less to make happy but meh, it'll change. I start thinking about what to get people roughly at the beginning of December, but can't be bothered to go to these stupid huge shopping places and buy anything. So, yes - I get them on the 23rd and I always meet loads of my friends doing the same. Advantage? "What did you buy for your mum?" "Oh cool, I'll get the same". Sharing ideas ***
