I wasn't on about that particular headset, i was just on about them in general. I dont think i've ever broken a pig, or know anyone who has for that matter. All ive had to do is replace bearing which cost a couple of quid at most. and the headset itself costs just £15. so you'd have to go through quite a few to make it worth buying a king.

My pig is currently running 5 ball bearings in the bottom race haha works beautifully. tops fully loaded though so alls good. I wouldnt spend ridiculous money on a headset. all ive ever bought are Pigs, except for the FSA Orbit i put in my 4x bike but i never really noticed the difference to be honest. As for wieght just man up, its not a huge amount. I'm sure there are people with much heavier bikes than yours that will be able to dick you in comps.

best bike ive ridden is my own (when its working) but best mod is dan6061's zona zip (again, when its working) a bike that weighs a ton but is ridden by a weight weenie haha

Yeah seems sound mate, plus the M.A.D bikes have a nice geo too as well if i remember correctly. As said you could keep v-brakes because if they're set up properly they're just as good as if not better than maggies.

And on the subject of brakeless, ive done it briefly before christmas, I found it was challenging yet fun and then when i put the brakes back on i felt more able than before. I've just taken the brakes back off again due to massive failure in both front and back brakes, and i really want to go have a proper session. plus i think the bike looks cleaner brakeless. P.S. Mark I've used your tensioner idea, works a treat needed a few mods for use with a cassette hub but it works beautifully. Cheers

Don't worry bout the sidehopping the 'wrong' way thing, me and my mate dan (dan6061) both do it and it doesn't hinder sidehops much. just look at Neil Tunnicliffe he can sidehop 8 pallets the 'wrong' way. and also if you were going to by a 108 freewheel get the echo sl, much better value for money.

Isn't that the 116mm model? Running smaller gears isn't a a problem at all so long as you've got descent chain wrap from your tensioner, I run 15:12 gearing with no problems on my stock. I would personally go for 16:14
