  1. I've never used a Fox or Reverb but have heard awful stories about the Rockshox and would never consider spending £300 on such a minor component, especially when the £90 BrandX does exactly the same job... The XL is my second Ascend (first one was just a mark 1 standard one with 125mm travel) but both have been absolutely spot on with no problems at all. I 3D printed a little bracket so the lever bolts on to the Matchmaker thing on my lever to clean up the cockpit but I honestly can't fault the Ascends.
  2. I was quite proud of that at the time! I have now moved on to a BrandX Ascend XL though and it's most definitely superior!!
  3. I thought Lewis might've gone against the orders (kinda) and let Bottas back on the last lap but to be honest it's probably in Bottas' interests to keep Mercedes sweet and play the part while Lewis is doing his thing. It's a shame but that's kinda what he's paid to do at the moment...
  4. But they'll be able to see the accident on the insurance database jobbie when they carry out the CUE check. It should then come back as a non-fault accident or 'driver hit from behind' at least so you can argue it then... Agree that any claim, whether fault or not, will impact your premium but you'd like to think that a non-fault is less of an 'added risk' than an at-fault one...
  5. Absolutely incredible riding. Most of that simply shouldn't be possible.
  6. the joys of having a 4 year old and a 6 year old . I even know who R Willy is (though to be fair that's because of Nitro Circus)!
  7. Have a look on Youtube. Basically you need to get a feel for spinning the thing using your arms (the flick you give the deck with your foot only helps things along, most of the work is done by your wrists/arms) with your feet still on the floor before attempting to do it on the move.
  8. People fairly regularly ride there and there are a couple of locals but otherwise it's just a really good place to ride.
  9. As Swoofty says this is bicycle trials but I used to have a 98 Beta mototrials and that looks good for the money. Top end's are nice and easy to sort out the top end on (probably 6 bolts, a circlip then you'll just need piston kit with rings and a new gasket and you should be good to go. If the bike's local to you see if you can see/hear it running and take someone along who knows something about engines or if possible trials bikes. Clutch bleed should be easy but there may be a reason it needs bled (leaking seals etc.) so worth asking a few questions... If you're mechanically minded and happy to get your hands a bit dirty then I dont think you can go far wrong provided it's a runner and the person you're buying it off hasn't either just knicked it or ragged it round a quarry and killed it.
  10. Portland's only an hour away from you too. Some of the best natural trials in the South.
  11. Trousers tucked into socks... we've reached a new low in how cool trials is!
  12. Your best bet would be to get along to a local race and have a chat in the paddock. I think as with many things there's a large range of budgets and 'seriousness' involved in karting but it depends on the class whether you'll be dealing with people out to have a laugh and do a bit of racing at the weekends to those who are preparing to be the next Lewis Hamilton, spending tens of thousands a year travelling all over Europe to get noticed.
  13. But they're not even sections in the traditional sense. It's a bunch of big on-off moves then loop round and do something else in the 'section' then go somewhere else and do another move. It's like TGS mixed in with an autocross course!
  14. You sure it's actually a 3mm and not some random imperial one that's found it into the set?
  15. I've been running mine since I got the framekit back in 2013 with no issues. Wouldn't think twice about getting another set if I needed.
  16. Gut feeling is it wouldn't work and there's no benefit unfortunately. The beauty of 3D printing is the ability to make complex shapes that would be difficult/expensive to make any other way. A brake pad is basically a cuboid of PU. Even if you printed in PU the resulting pad would most likely just delaminate quickly (i.e. shear along the build layers) and fall to pieces.
  17. Awesome news, congratulations Luke (and Ed, Giggidy)!
  18. I don't know how you can live with yourself having the front tyre on backwards. My OCD isn't that bad but... Looks sweet though. I'd be tempted to run a slimmer seat but otherwise good show!
  19. Not entirely relevant but coming from a mod trials background I've never run over 30 psi on my 24s (Fourplay, Skye, Arcade). I know I'm in the minority but I really don't like hard tyres!
  20. @Dannyyou just need a welder and practise!
  21. The beast made it about 4.5 hours of the 5 total before cutting out. It was seriously dusty and I think the carb just got choked up with shit. Eventually got it back running after the event had finished but it definitely needs a bit of TLC...
  22. Lovely little vid Dan! Need need need to come out riding more! I've now got Finn a little Inspired Flow 20" so no excuses!
