  1. Laminate flooring is a fad, and a shit one at that. Bin it.
  2. Pay an extra 50/60 quid and get the new Ashton 26" frame - it's really nice (there's a picture of mine built up in the bike pictures thread). The geometry is really good if you're not interested in something really long (Coust, T-Rex, etc) and it's been designed by a good rider with, I expect, feedback from the other team riders (who ride them at Master level in the nationals). A proven design, and only 250 quid.
  3. I'll go with The University of North Carolina Charlotte Department of Chemistry then. The Internet (capital 'i' please) only served to confirm what I already believed. You're just bitter because you got chucked off stage. Going to bring eggs next time, get it done properly...
  4. Title reads 'Test Site' - might want to change that. Otherwise it's good - I like it. :)
  5. My new Ashton Justice... Soon I'm going to have new wheels (King rear/Hope front on Try-all rims), Hope Try-all, new tyres and perhaps some black bars.
  6. Thanks for the feedback - it really does ride nice. It's just fun to ride, that's why I've got the massive riser bars. Sod all this pure trials crap.
  7. Often bike shops have a bag of miscellaneous mech hangers you can sift through. Other than that I'm not sure. Think the rear drop-outs were similar to Scott frames and such-like.
  8. Here's a picture of the new frame in black...
  9. You are a true Legend Jonathan. Where were those trails...? Not Riverside? Mental video though - that tailwhip nosepick was crazy!!
  10. No, no, no. They're just unbranded steel forks. I had some that I bought from Leisure Lakes 5 years ago. Same shape as the Onza ones but without the reinforcing ridge on them. Don't know if they were ever sold with a brand name on them, but they're pretty strong. Mine had v-brake mounts - my mate had some in chrome disk only.
  11. Do we have to guess where it's being held?
  12. I doubt. Wasn't a casual theft - this seems more planned. I reckon it'll be a respray and plates job.
  13. Consequently I think you should stick to hospital stuff. "Carbon is the single most important alloying element in steel." And so mild steel could be 'roughly generally possibly if I like' considered to be an alloy. Dictionary says... Steel: "An alloy of iron with small amounts of carbon" I think steel is actually a suspension, since the carbon is suspended in an iron matrix. The University of North Carolina Charlotte Department of Chemistry, does, however, define 'steel' as a solution, which is understandable since the elements are not chemically bonded.
  14. Never did quite understand Worthing - is there some massive area of trials I'm missing? All I've ever found are the (un)natural sea defence rocks and the stuff to ride near Splash Point (promenade, little park with walls, etc), which was good stuff to ride but didn't seem much better than anywhere else.
  15. Quite agree, TF gets too bitchy with people just taking sides according to who their mates/people they'd like to bum are. That's why I always liked Section7 - yes, the forum was never going to be as large as TF, but the news section always contained informative and accurate news.
  16. I really liked my C2. You can adjust it to exactly where you want it.
  17. Don't be put off by The Chemist's snazzy words Luke, he may very well be wrong... Compound: "a substance formed by chemical union of two or more elements or ingredients in definite proportion by weight"
  18. Not really any point 'roughening up' the surface. If you want to spray it with cellulose or acrylic, you'll need a metal primer that works with aluminium, like an etch primer. Last time I looked at this it was £10 for an aerosol. Look at what Hammerite do - might work out cheaper. Powder coating is the way to go though...
  19. If the lacquer protects the paint, what protects the lacquer? They're quite similar... polish protects paint. Whatever, it's a trivial point, sure it'll look nice either way.
  20. Why lacquer, the paint is gloss? Best way to get a good finish is to cut back and polish the top coat.
  21. Think we discussed this before. No bonds, no compound surely? So mild steel is a mixture then?
