  1. As I said to you earlier Jardo, and I'm sure Nick would agree; driving a car (fast!) around the Nurburgring (or any track) is just a ticking timebomb. The fact he managed an 8:40 is credit itself to the hard work that was put into setting it up, and I'm sure he'll fight back with something even better sooner or later. I've lost count of the amount of visits "actual a3" had to Germany, and countless trackdays in the UK, so sadly it doesn't come as a HUGE surprise...as good a driver as Nick is on track (and without licking his ass, he truely does have an epic talent!), everybody's luck has to end somewhere, and to be honest, losing control at 130mph and smashing into a barrier at the most famous track in the world, and walking away with barely more than dented pride and a broken car is exceptionally fortunate!
  2. £7k a month?! Shit...I'm in the wrong job haha
  3. To be fair, unless Nick has mega money, I don't think any engine swaps will be going on for a while...£3k is a lot to swallow!
  4. Might as well just cut the bull and get an lcr. They are the superior car, and most off his decent bits were off one anyway! Plus they are cheap as chips now
  5. Think you'll find the cage would fit with no modifications at all Jardo! In fact, it would probably fit better, seeing as it was actually a mk4 golf cage, seeing as nobody makes a cage for an a3.
  6. He's fine from all accounts, just a cut on his leg. Car held up suprisngly well considering the speed at which he lost control. Although I guess he's feeling pretty sick about the financial side of it!
  7. You've still got 2 months left...enjoy the time you've got!
  8. Think he'd struggle to get a decent 330d for £4k unfortunately. I test drove a 330ci before I got the LCR, and was thoroughly unimpressed, it just seemed really dull and lardy. It wasn't in the best of condition either, which might have subconsciencsly put me off it I guess.
  9. I think if they line the strips with concrete barriers instead of plastic, they might stand a better chance! Hope it doesn't spell the end though, its a great show.
  10. Oi! Me too Nick! Real shame about the accident, it totally ruined the atmosphere of the show. A spectator in the crowd suffered a broken pelvis and was airlifted to hospital. Another man was taken to hospital by land, accompanied by his girlfriend who was walking wounded. All of this caused by a quick release steering wheel coming off mid run. The sad thing is, it wasn't even the drivers car, he was having a go in his mates car (which just so happens to be a tuning company...not very good advertisement!) Hopefully they all make a speedy recovery. Was a good day apart from that. Weather was nowhere near as bad as expected! Had a fun drive on the way there and back!
  11. That's an Acura, dipshit I hate that front, it looks so pathetic. JDM or go home.
  12. Garaged Leon, Fiesta and new transit van on the drive, and enough room for another one. Jealous?
  13. I think the 452's might have been discontinued or something. Blackcircles have none, and camskill are out of stock, with no expected delivery date. I've got my MOT on Thursday, and might need a new rear tyre (hence wanting a pair). If I do need one, obviously I can't hold out! Think I'll go for the rainsports then, seeing as they are the cheaper of the "good" options. I had read that they have flexy sidewalls, but will do a bit more reading seeing as you've heard so much praise.
  14. I'd love 452's again, but seem to be struggling to find them round here. Whether there's manufacturing delays or something I don't know... Must admit, I do like the look of the Rainsports (not that looks really matter haha!) This is a road car Jardo...I know what Andy's Maxsports sounded like
  15. I remember you saying you were keeping it 100% standard. Lols. I have to agree with the Prada arguement. They were AWESOME on the road in the dry, but they tried many many times to kill me in the wet. However, on track, they did seem to fall apart a bit when REALLY pushed, they beaded like nobody's business, and just went to shit really!
  16. I'm after some new tyres for the LCR. They are 225/40/18's. Been looking online at reviews and stuff, but can't really make my mind up. Don't really want to spend anymore than £250 for both, but if I have to, I have to (can't see the point in getting crappy tyres when I'm chasing 300bhp!) My shortlist so far is: Hankook Ventus V12 Evo (seem VERY highly rated on tyre review sites) - £117.94 each fitted Dunlop Sport SP1 - £121.38 each fitted Hankook Ventus S1 Evo K107 (have these on the front at the moment, seem fairly nice) - £115.21 each fitted Uniroyal Rainsport 2 - £113.63 each fitted That list is pretty much just composed by going on Black Circles, and looking for stuff in my price range though! Any other suggestions? I want something reasonably hard wearing, I only really use the car at weekends, but don't want anything like T1R's, because they were out SO fast! I had Falken FK452's on my Audi before the Pradas, and really liked them for the price, but they seem to be hard to find nowadays. In othe news, I've now had my remapped LCR for a month, and am used to the power already, and it feels a bit dull now haha. Whoops!
  17. Get some Nitromors (or American equivilent) and some wire wool (Brillopad ), and rub the shit out of it.
  18. Yes, most cars have an issue of some kind. But if you look on Vauxhall forums, literally every other cdit has a gearbox issue. They are a NIGHTMARE, and there is no cure for them. Its literally just pot luck. Mine had a new DMF and clutch put in when I bought it because it was chattering, and 8 months down the line, and 12k later, and it was chattering again. I promised myself I would never buy another Vauxhall again!
  19. The one you took in must have been a bag of shit. Mine went in part exchange for £5000, and is back up for sale at £6995. Although mine was a LOT higher spec than that, and had the XP kit and 3 door. That is fairly low mileage though. Just be very very very wary of the gearbox bearings. Myself, and 4 others I know have all had the gearboxes fail. If the gearstick shoots back in 1st when you pull away, dont buy the car! There's a lot of common problems with the 1.9 cdti...EGR valve, alternator, DMF, gearbox bearings to name a few. Nice cars when they work right, but its seemingly a bit of a gamble as to whether you get a good one or not!
  20. Still no key. Been waiting on the dealer since Thursday. ANNOYING!!!
  21. Pretty sure there are ways to get out of it (normally if you're self employed or other "good" reasons), but its normally moved to a different date rather than just cancelled. I'd be quite interested to do it in all honesty! Pretty sure you're not meant to talk about it though
  22. You text me and asked me to delete any references to your email. I laughed at you lots. Would hardly say you "got" me! I presume you were never told the story of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" when you were younger? People are just going to think you are even more of a dick now! I would be prepared for more spam email now!
  23. How would the rods have ANYTHING to do with the valves?! Oh jardo... Robin, as much as it pains me to say it, I'd go NA for your setup too. Not to mention the V6 sound would be far superior to the 4 pot!
  24. Certinally sounds like you and Claire were having fun! Don't see why you said you were crap, seemed to have the hang of it pretty well from where I'm sitting! That track looks really narrow, that must have been a bit off-putting!
  25. New key, cut and programmed to the car is £178. Not thaaaat bad. Only problem being I need to get the car to them for the programming. What a colossal f**k up!
