  1. The weather wasn't that bad at all, you lot just fannied out and had a little cornish crew session by yourselves! There is a fair amount of riding in Plymouth, if you can make the trip down it's worth it.
  2. With respect to the lever blade I've got to agree Dave; the body looks so well thought out and seems to resolve the issues found with previous versions, it's almost let down a little by the simplicity of the lever. I guess onza had a price point they were looking to get the lever on the market for and if they wanted to add a CNC lever blade they would have missed that price point.
  3. Whilst Andrei may not be classed as being a basher as such, he generally goes as big or bigger than the aforementioned "street bashers" and certainly kills parts pretty regularly. I don't think having a basher testing your proto parts is realy a good idea, unless that's the target market you're aiming for...
  4. Mine were the older "normal" welded versions, cracked on bot 4-bolt mounts. I'm guessing the smoother welded versions have alleviated this problem? I think the one thing I didn't like about my Trialtechs was the geo, they just felt a whole lot longer than any other fork I've used. Be interested to see if the prototypes that Andrei Burton is using will make it into production, seem a much nicer length and offset and a bit lighter; whilst still lasting him ages!
  5. Just a perk of being a senior member Yes Ali can be a little blunt in some of the things he says, but that and Andy's very misinformed opinions and lack of knowledge aren't really an excuse for the way he acts on the forum.
  6. Looks awesome, appears to sort out all the issues with the 05 magura. Split clamp and flip flop design is cool. Nice to see a metal tpa as standard. Can see the sense in a 3 finger blade too, 2 finger has a nice firms feel but not enough power, 4 finger has the power but can make the brake feel a little squishy; 3 finger should have all the benefits without the squidge! All that for a Damn good price, seems a better thought out alternative at a very very good price!
  7. Get your bits from the shop, like Ali said get a guide off the net or something and take your time over building it yourself. Save money, gain a sense of achievement and learn a skill
  8. Aye, just have to wait til you've weighed it!
  9. Looks really nice. Such good frames! Doubt its sub 8.... But then you do have a silly rear tyre!
  10. Are the cranks hitting your slaves? Mtb cranks aren't known for having a large offset. Get some proper trials cranks a 128/127mm bb and you should be ok.
  11. I'm fully aware its a development for crewkerz, but that doesn't make it lighter or stronger than what echo or a combination of existing companies offer. If some real life benefits (facts and figures) over existing solutions are given then fair enough. Hats off to crewkerz for proposing a standard and putting it out there for all to use. P.s. those cranks are pretty nasty looking.
  12. Why does trials needs to move away from the Isis axle? I can see the benefits to larger press fit bearings that Echo/Gu and this idea offer, by why the need to change to a crank set up where the drive side is attached to the axle? Echo won't adopt it when they have a lightweight and strong solution and I can't see many people wanting to change their whole drive set up when buying a new frame; personally i'd buy one from a manufacturer using a standard threaded or echo type bb.
  13. Precisely, you do realise that the weight of something doesn't directly correlate with how strong something is? It's a fair approximate, but not a set rule. I would happily bet those echo cranks are just as strong as your trialtechs.
  14. Exactly, Drei has been running these cranks for about 6 months and given them a hammering with no issues, i don't think you have anything to worry about Andeee; unless...... you throw like a girl....?
  15. OK that's fair enough, in your experience "Chinese shit will break quickly", what would you recommend that won't break quickly?
  16. You do realise that this particular frame is the only one in the UK if not existence at the moment, so how you've heard that there have been problems setting up maggies I really don't know. As for shitty chinese i don't get where you're coming from with that. Everything is made in the far east! Rockman, Koxx and Onza i believe are made in Singapore and a lot of the other brands are made in China. I don't see what the problem is. Non of the Far Eastern manufactured frames I've had have been a problem with: in fact the worst bike frame i've had was a £1900, hand made in the USA, Intense Socom. Nothing was aligned properly! As for weight it's pretty damn similar to the Echo SL frame. Little bit longer, little bit higher BB; very orange.
  17. Of course it's on Christmas Eve, it's tradition Should be good, sounds like they'll be a good bunch of people going again this year.
  18. I'm pretty sure Echo forks do have a 6 month warranty, so if the first set (the original ones that got replaced) you bought was less than 6 months ago you should get a replacement set for these, if they're bent.
  19. That's fair enough Jardo, personally i've only ever had 2 Alfas, but between me my mum and my dad it's a whole lot more. A 155 cloverleaf, a 155 Q4, a couple 33 cloverleafs, a V6 75, a GT Junior, a 146 cloverlead and 2 145 cloverleafs; only 1 has gone wrong where the tensioner disintergrated and caused the cam belt to jump. Luckily it was only at idle and caused very little damage. Apart form that they've all been brilliant, I loved my 145 Cloverleaf to bits; it was crap inside, but the engine and handling made up for it. Sounds like we were fairly lucky though! Fed up of the beemer already, going to get a few bits sorted and give it some love and sell it on. Looking at an Octavia VRS estates, looking at something around an 03 plate, what's to look out for? Probably have around the 2-2.5k mark to spend.
  20. Have you owned a Alfa Jardo? Mine was bloody brilliant, yes the build isn't great; but like any car if you service it when it's supposed then they run just fine. It's when people leave cam belts and tensioners too long between changes that things tend to go wrong. That and the variator cost a fair chunk if it goes. Other wise i'd say it's not really any worse than anything not German.
  21. Don't they make a 16t WI Eno? Edit: They do but only in a 36 engagement point version
