Real Coust Pad=Phat Backings (Up Date, Page 2)
craigjames replied to gary-mac's topic in Trials Chat
Well Josh had the Heatsink Cousts on before he had the ones from Michel and yes there is a difference. I don't know why, they just bite and hold better, different noise (which is most likely down to the backings)and they wear better; it's been the same on all the bikes I've tried with them. Thought I'd give it a go myself, back to back comparison, to see if there is a difference for me. Email them Nick, didn't cost me that much! -

The one's on the plastic packings from Michel are available from Trialprod.net, that's the one's Josh has got. They've always seemed amazing when i've tried them on peoples bikes. Currently got some Heatsink cousts, ordering some from Trialprod just so I can make a comparison. -
I'm fully aware of that and wasn't saying that you weren't testing them. Just that you probably weren't testing them to the same level that Andrei would be.
-
Probably because they were more applicable to the beginners section Think i met you on a Bristol ride a month or so ago, you were on a red and white onza? You're obviously new to the sport but it looks like you're keen to learn and very hungry to progress. I think you need to focus on 1 particular thing at a time, get it nailed and then move on. Watch this video, it's a bit of a classic, but the techniques used are spot on and as you nail one move to the next. Take your time, don't expect to be able to do everything in no time. That's the thing with trials, everyone is still learning new things. Just stick at it! http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/bN4_udGPZLM/

No even Pete knew he was chatting shit! Dave doesn't seem to realise he's spouting random nonsense.

They are indeeds. -
Well I think it's coming out in the purple the proto has been in, don't quote me on that. I very very much doubt he does, seeing his latest vids, he's a good rider; just not quite up to their level of riding quite yet.
-
Aye but I doubt he tests them to the same level as Andrei or Joe, these are 26" forks I'm talking about too. Drei's proto was about 1080-1080-1085 380 +45 71.5? Fairly good weight too.

I'm currently using a pair of Salomon Speedcrosss 2 shoes ( so are a few other riders I know, Joe Seddon and Josh Kydd) and have been for just over a year. They're a set of xc running shoes so the sole is really well padded and cushion loads of support and very light. Trimmed the grip down where the pedal sits and they're awesome, need to get another pair really.

Ashton Justice (Diamondback) - Rear Wheel - Magura
craigjames replied to trials26's topic in Trials Chat
There's no real way you can get round it. A wider rim is the best way forwards really. If you don't want something silly wide get an Alex DX32 or an Echo Urban front rim, both are a fair bit wider than your D521 without being comparatively silly wide like most rear rims. -
Why not? Took me about 2 minutes looking on tarty and putting the info in: Just realised one of the flange diameters is wrong, hit the wrong button, but the spoke lengths are correct.
-
Take the info for the rim and hub from Tarty and then use the Dt Swiss poke calculator with those figures to give you the spoke lengths. Sorted

Can't see the forks being out for a little while yet, due to Andrei and Joe only very recently receiving their first set of proto forks for testing. Think the Limey 4 stock was April time, Ice 24"- pretty much what Luke said. New stock comp frame no idea when it will be released but it's pretty much sorted and looks and rides really nice in my opinion. Guess it's just a case of wait and see
-
Indeeds i'll be there.

RS7 RS8 It's in the descriptions. One's an all round crank warranted for all types of cycling (including trials) and the other is an XC/Trail crank so is lighter and not warranted against trials.
-
Stick with the Zoot, you've got a perfectly good bike for learning the basics on. Just stick with it.

That's going to be awesome, looked really really well put together. Can't wait!

Try-All Fork Karbon Koncept ... Coming Soon!
craigjames replied to Laurence--Trials's topic in Trials Chat
Most likely the reason why Koxx have chosen the design and manufacturing method they have, it's a technological advancement over Danny's forks.... simpler to integrate 4 bolt mounts and take advantage of the new manufacturing techniques, producing a lighter and (potentially) lower cost fork. What you were suggesting was that they use an old out dated method that was most likely chosen as it was the only one available/feasible for extremely low production numbers. Plus putting a "cost effective" four bolt mount on an "inferior" (Ali has already said Danny's forks weighed circa twice as much as the Koxx protos) that was economical to produce wouldn't be a very cost effective thing to do.... Your argument was just weak/bollocks, why take something old and tweak it with modern technology so it "just" works when Koxx are trying to produce something that is up to date, superior(?) and more than likely cheaper (wouldn't be worth them producing it if they couldn't sell it)? -

Why? they were horrifically expensive to make and were disc only. The Koxx forks are 4 bolt specific and I can't see how they could make the forks Danny used to work with maggys without seriously mods and things have moved on with carbon manufacturing since then. I'm sure with the right design they'll sort the issues, I mean that's the point in prototypes, to trial a design, see it's short comings and engineer them out of the next proto until they're worthy of production. Light one one off forks are slightly different to something that's going to be produced on a comparatively large scale. -
I ran an older (slopey top carp) tryall nuc stem and some TT high rise bars on my 24. The extra height reach the bars give you really helps but by the size of you, you probably want a longer and higher stem than the nuc too!

Was chatting to Joe Seddon the other week and these forks came up, they aren't lasting too long at the moment, but then at sub 500 grams i'm not surprised! But if they are that weight they've got a bit to play with to sort them out. Will be interesting to see the final production model and how they last. I'd give them one ride on the front of Andrei Burton's bike!
