For a phone, those pics rule! Anyhoo, new pedals, back wheel and stem...

I've just finished my A-levels this year, so I'm out of school. I was initially gonna go to uni, but that's all kinda fallen through (well, I knew it had a while back...). I'm looking into moving away from here (tiny little town, no job prospects, not much really good riding, no near skatepark (Y) I'm hoping to just basically get a job I'm going to be interested in, probably in a bike shop or something like that. I don't have it 100% mapped out at the moment. I've given my CV out to people so they can consider me when they have vacancies next, but it's just a fairly slow process. I could've gone into clearing with the results I had and might've got onto a decent course, but at the moment I simply don't know what I want to do. I might try again in a year if I fancy doing a degree in something, but with top-up fees I might just sack that idea off. Either way, I don't really see that there's anything wrong with just going from school into a job. Saying that, I'm not just going to do any job just for the sake of having one, I'm just focussing on getting one I'm going to enjoy doing. I've got a load of time to choose, so I just want to get all my shit together and find somewhere nice. I wouldn't really have any problem with doing 9-5 for some days a week and just riding and having fun the rest of the time, really.

That's the company, yeah. You'll probably need to phone and ask for the ATV grips. They're really worth getting though :D

Word. I really prefer shorter bikes. Just way more flicky and fun. Even tried the "lower" thing, and that felt f**king horrible. I really don't get how people can use the ZOO! stems...

Just gotta watch out too with a steeper head angle for the comedy OTB moments at the merest hint of front wheel contact  Went from a 72 or something ° head angle on my Federal Foundation to a 74° on my Parkinson, and I went OTB about 4 times when I first got it just from trying to do stupid stuff :"> The benefits of a slack head angle mean that it feels flicky, but it won't put you on your arse/face as often. So, say, for natural, you'd have a nice stable bike that'd roll over rough stuff nicely, yet it'd still fairly flicky despite the "long" wheelbase. I went from long stays on my T-Pro to shorter ones on my T-Lite Long, and it felt really good for a lot of stuff having a shorter back end, but ups were shite :D It just felt really unpleasant, like you couldn't give it enough beans almost. Looped out too easily...

We all need a purer-than-the-whitest-snow anus, Tomm

I was getting waaaaaaaay more into the street side of it with manual lines and spins and shit, but why try and copy BMX when I could just...y'know...get a BMX? (Y) My riding was just moving more towards that, and so I just thought I might as well do it proper. But nah, it wasn't just "inch up/across/down", it's just that with trials it's like once you've learnt the basics it's just applying them differently, which IS different to BMXing.

f**k me... surgery to have your arse sculpted and implanted must be a bitch  Not being able to sit down for ages, etc. Then having to get used to sitting on a different arse :D

Haha, I'm gonna be there too. No joke.* *Note: By "there" I mean Southampton, on Monday, but with my BMX not trials bike. Gonna be doing some street at some point, so our paths may cross I guess...

My friend Matt had some red Heatsink V's on his BMX, running them on a Big City too. They just melted away and wore to very little in less than a week, and came out of the backings whenever they thought they had a chance. Aside from the melting, coming out, and hideous volume of them, I didn't like them much just 'cos they were a bit too grabby, so manuals were a whore when you needed to scrub a bit of speed if you were going at pace. With your V-Flies, when you toed them in did they still lock 'n' stuff OK? Mine should be here tomorrow, as well as my new back wheel (Hazard Lite on Hazard hub). Are the Hazard Lites any good? I had heard they were, but have you noticed any long term problems? Same for me, re: trials getting a bit samey. I can do all the stuff too, 'cept for hooking (and I never want to learn that), and it's just dull riding the same shit but just going an inch bigger each time or whatever. BMXing's just a shitload more fun, actually learning whole new techniques. As well as that, it's comfier to get places, and it's fun just going full bore at stuff. It's just a nice, refreshing change... Anyway, except for the pissing which kinda disturbed me, awesome vid!

I've edited the original post so the names are spelt right, just to please everyone. I don't really get how Waynio was 'bumming' either, but there we go. Anyway, this is a News thread about this show, not a "Dig myself a really big hole by talking crap" thread B)

Not to mention it'd be knackering, and feel like utter shite, as all "proper" DH bikes do when not ridden DH. A friend here had a Sintesi Bazooka with 12" travel up front and 10" at the rear, and that was the worst handling bike ever, but apparently was 'good' for DH. Couldn't hop up a curb on it though 'cos there was 4" of sag front and rear to get through B) Just ended up sorta trying to hop, and just unweighting the sus enough to let it absorb it...

At Worlds and similar major competitions, it's fair enough I guess (even though it looks utterly shite B)), but I don't get why people are doing it at club level. At club level, it's not a do-or-die competition, so why bother doing it, really? Club-level comps are generally about just going out, having a fun time and learning something new, so I don't get why more people don't just push themselves a bit more in sections and really go for it. This is coming from someone who reckons anyone who sidehops to pedal should be beaten though, so there we go :P

Off Road Only, if you can find their website anywhere B)\ I've got Renthal ATV grips in soft compound on my trials bike (full diamond, btw), and they're awesome. They're a really nice thickness, and have lasted for pretty much ages with very little sign of wear. Pretty weird considering I go through grips super fast, and they're the soft compound :P
-
Well, I guess they've got sus so there's less stress on welds and stuff on the frame, which will in turn help it last longer. Full sussers also tend to be overbuilt to some extent, moreso than rigids. Therefore, when you ride it 'normally', it'll have plenty of strength, so it should last longer theoretically.

The '06 Four Seasons and Thrillseekers are coming with cassette hubs, 25:9 gearing, and loads of other goodness. Ones to watch B) Frame-wise, there are loads of decent ones out there. You're best off trying out different TT length bikes though to get an idea what you want, first. The Parkinson's awesome. If you wanna better review of it than that, go to www.alansbmx.com and check out my review in the "Super**** Parkinson US BB frame" thing. Also, RideUK's website has a bike review section in it with archives of their past reviews. Good reading :P I grind right-side and have RHD, but that's mainly 'cos I can't be bothered to change it. I've hit my sprocket once or twice, and dinged my chaintug trying icepick stalls/grind on boxes, but that's about it. Nothing major, and nothing that a little skill wouldn't sort out (Y) Either way, if you get a complete, you're probably gonna upgrade stuff on it, so you'll probably upgrade the cranks/wheels anyway, meaning the coast is clear for LHD, should you desire it. The Federal Foundation's a really nice starter bike though, mine did me pretty well. Just kept upgrading stuff and it rode pretty nicely, and was still light (Y) Check the BMX FAQ thread too for more BMX'y stuff :P

Cuss-tastic. If you both live near each other, do shit like this in person. Much more entertaining for those around you, and you'll get shit sorted whereas here you can just slag away all you want with the benefit of the shield of being behind a keyboard. Welcome to Closedville.

I really didn't like the Heatsink V's on my friends BMX too much. Manuals are near impossible just 'cos there's no modulation whatsoever, it's just on/off. That's OK for some stuff, but other pads do the job too, but offer more modulation (Ody 1x4s or 2x4s - whatever they're called - are pretty good, and even say the V-Flys are pretty good from what I've heard. Mine should be here soon so I can say more then ). Also, the Heatsinks seem to melt on chrome rims, due to the increase in heat over standard trials rims. Matt's have sorta melted all weirdly, in a not so good way... I'd go for: V-Flys Hombre w/Fiesta pack (or maybe the E-Brake from Primo?) Odyssey Monolever (medium) Odyssey Linear Slic cable

Think about it. Monkey was largely only 'funny' when he was pissing people off. Therefore, if you weren't being pissed off, it'd seem 'funny' to you, so you'd like him. If you're the 'pissed off' person though, you're not going to like him. Therefore, some like, some don't like. Simply as that. It really, really doesn't matter.

Question: With the shower scene, and cock shots, shouldn't the first line of the song have been "When you're close to queers remember, one day it'll all be over"? :ermm: Anyhoo, good vid. Was a nice cross-section of riding, although some shots were sketchy. It'd have been better to have zoomed out a little and had more of a view of the whole object being hopped or whatever, instead of the rider by it, then the landing, if you get me?

Get your camera, your helmet, and some gaffa tape. Be a man.™ But don't fall on your head.

Don't forget though Matt, with all the racist twats on T-F they'll probably track you and Raven Riley down and kill you both 'cos she isn't pure, white and English :ermm:

Better than "you cunt" or something :ermm:

I just got a "These riders are blocked entry to ride in this video because they ride for Onza. Thanks, UK Team Selectors." :) Nah, shitting you. DL'ing now :ermm:

Nah, just a coaster brake. Freecoaster = no engagements when riding backwards :P Same as when you snap a chain gapping with any hub, dullard :P
