  1. dezmtbr, if you see that once a week and you tell people it's a new stanchion/crown, then oyu guys must be raking in a whole lot of cash for no reason! It is very unlikely you will have scratched or damaged the stanchion at all, not unless you have come off and rammed it into a rock/tree, or covered it in grit and ridden down a rocky descent! My Foxes are about 3 years old now, and I have just blown them in the same way Flipp has. A simple (and much needed) seal change has fixed them, and they're good as new!
  2. As I am clearing out and tidying up the workshop, I might as well get pictures of everything up! This is my '98 Stumpjumper M2, currently singlespeed and rigid for that all out hardcore look! Although usually resigned to commute duties, she gets the occasional whizz around the local singletrack every now and then! She is soon being transferred into a geared On One 456 or Inbred for my dad however... sad times!

Also got a new saddle and rotor in the post to make it all look a bit more rad! The plan is to throw the XT brakes from my On One onto here once I can afford some XTR Races for the her. Enjoy! James
  4. I'm seriously tempted by a 456 as well! A race weight 150mm travel hardtail sounds somewhat appealing! Having ridden them against the steel, it's probably worth noting the Steel was actually funner to ride as I was worried about hurting the Carbon! Although the straight off 1kg weight saving was enough to make it nicer to ride over a whole day! I'm just waiting for the photographs from the Enduro race I did yesterday to come out! Even after 50 miles I was loving how she rode, and grinning like an idiot!
  5. Cheers boss! Weighing in at a featherweight 10kg, she really does fly! I think the words the head mechanic in work used were "it's very Euro!"
  6. My new XC beast, ready for my first long distance enduro event this Sunday! First proper (Read:Sensible) bike I've ever owned, after a long list of street, DJ and 4X bikes! She is one of 6 bikes in my current collection, but by fair one of my favourite! Tyres are to be replaced with something a bit bigger after the race, and the wheels with something lighter and tubeless compatible. Spec is as follows: Frame: On One Whippet carbon 18" Fork: RockShox sidehop XX 120mm X-Loc Headset: On One Smoothie Cranks: Shimano XTR M970 Shifter: Shimano XTR M980 10s Mech: Shimano ZEE Fr 10s Cassette: Shimano Tiagra 11-30 10s Chain: Sram PC-1070 Chain Guide: Modified Superstar Top Guide Converted To Direct Mount Bottom Bracket: Token BB92 Press Fit Brakes: Shimano XT M775 Rotors: Shimano XT RT76 Bars: Octane One Chemical 750mm Stem: Superstar Zenith 50mm Grips: Funn Lock Ons Pedals: Wellgo SPD Seatpost: Maxim Race Saddle: Ragley Ti Front Hub: On One Max Adaptable Rear Hub: On One Max Adaptable Front Rim: Mavic XM119 Rear Rim: Mavic XM119 Spokes: Sapim Race DB Tyres: Onza Canis 26x2.00 120TPI
  7. The short end of it is everyone has a different opinion. They can all perform the same power wise, although Shimano for longevity/reliability, BB7 for cheapness, Hope for the bling factor... Sorted
  8. That is for a pair of levers. A single can be had for the same price as a SpeedDial. It's simply that I had CRC open on my browser and couldn't be bothered to search elsewhere! I prefer the XTs due tot he longer lever they come with. Much more power! It's the trail version I use boss! James
  9. This is untrue. Any brake can be made to perform well with the right combination of pads or rotor. Both my Avid Elixir Rs and my Avid Elixir 5s have been on my Inspired when I have had problems with my XTs. Both were savagely good! Almost on par with my Shimano Saint 203mms! Unfortunately my deep rooted hatred for anything Avid took over, and they were replaced by Saints! Similarly, the best brake I have ever felt and used was a Avid BB7, Nukeproof Pads, 180mm Cleansweep G3 rotor and an XT trekking lever. I have never got a Hope Mono Trial of any generation to work as well as I wanted, thanks to the stupid IS and washer setup they have going on! Go for the BB7, get some new pads and one of these levers: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=70099 Don't look back!
  10. Despite being only 18 and living at home.... hmmm
  11. They shot an MIT police officer dead. That makes them murderers... And yes, it makes sense to have security at an event like this, just incase someone tried to, I don't know, bomb it? Pah, no that would never happen, so theres no need for security! Dimwit... In terms of them trying to stop the second amendment, this has no relevance whatsoever! The second amendment doesn't cover placing bombs in crowded public places filled with innocent people, a lot of whom are children... This event has no bearing on the movement towards stricter gun control at all!
  12. The government will not "gain" anything from this that will overcome the fact three innocent people lost their lives, and many many people were injured. The mental damage caused to those involved is huge, and the families of the victims will be grieving for a long long time. What these lads did is inexcusable, and yes, I do believe it was them. they went to a tremendous effort to get away, and were even willing to kill to do so. That's not normal behaviour for someone who is innocent, despite what their mother/uncle/sister's first cousin's hamster's original owner's mum's boyfriend has to say! This.
  13. The filming was split between several people. "Ladography" is Euan's friend's, Matt Spencer, photography and video page on Facebook. Sound lad and great cameraman! As I say, filming was split between about four of us! Myself, the lads from Shredit Productions and Matt Spencer. Have to say, the 5 days I spent up there filming has to without a doubt have been the best long weekend I have ever spent with mates! Shout out to Matt and Euan for having me to stay, with such awesome riding, people and general good times had, this video is just a bonus for me! haha Loved the editing Euan, it's the first time I've not had the chance to edit what I've filmed. few bits here and there I would have changed, but overall nice work! Was really nervous to see what you would come out with, but with exception to the song (which I never really did like when we were originally talking about it!) I loved the video! Cheers all! James
  14. A kid who with his brother bombed a marathon injuring hundreds of innocent civilians? And if I was going to do something like that, my family are the last people I'd tell! Unless he told them specifically, of course his family are going to say he's innocent! I can see exactly why they would shut down Boston! This guy is a murderer, who has killed a police officer, set 5 bombs, and had a huge shootout with the police! He is going to be desperate and scared! He represents a large amount of danger to the general public! I am pretty sure if someone like that was loose in my area, I would be all for the fact they are actively searching him out. He doesn't deserve to have somewhere to go, in my eyes he deserved to be caught, and be held accountable for what he did. The fact he is a medical student with no history of violence doesn't mean anything. It doesn't take much at all to make someone snap, especially if they are politically or religiously motivated. If I am correct, he came from an area of the Eastern block that has had many many years of violence under the USSR? That could have played into it, we just don't know. I can however, say that I do not believe in any way the US government had anything to do with it.
  15. Can I ask, do you really believe they are innocent? because last time I checked, innocent people tend not to have large shoot outs with the police in an attempt to escape them.... Conspiracy theorists on the whole bore me. It's always the same"The government are out to get us, they only care about money" argument! And when it is forced upon those who aren't convinced to a point where we are insulted and sworn at, then it simply will make us less susceptible to it! On a plus side, this: http://uk.reuters.com/article/2013/04/20/uk-usa-explosions-boston-idUKBRE93G0JM20130420 It should go away now, the whole manhunt thing was pretty intense! @PaRtZ: This is the entire timeline of events since the bombings: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-22213651
  16. Decent ratchets are good, such as those made by Gibbon. Cheapo ones, alas, are not. I've always used the carabiner solution, and although it can be a little tricky to get set up, has never failed on me. Carabiners can be had quite cheaply, look at the DMM prowires, the cometic seconds fo these can be had for about £3 each!
  17. Looks like I could be visiting Portsmouth 3 weekends on the trot then?! WINNER!

T'was pretty good, could have done with more of a climax

    3. showurcolours

      showurcolours

I just finished watching, I think it was actually awesome. I think that was the biggest climax it could achieve; basically not do what you expected them to do. Plus the Carl thing and what he does is quite nuts. Cant really be specific as don't want to spoil it for everyone else haha

  24. Despite my best intentions during the 5 years I took it, I can still actually have a conversation in German.... I FAILED!
