First actual ride in aeons

Eventually I would hope to end up closer to the coast in the proper southwest... thread side tangent: as the sheds nearing electrics I’m thinking about home automations, I’ve got some serious space issues for lights so it’s going to be very thin led jobs with drivers in the walls rather than ceiling. Want dimmable smart control and came across Shelley WiFi bits n bobs. Anyone using anything like that anywhere at home? In fact just general ideas for things to automate that have had a positive impact? I want to probably make some automated thermal blinds at some point - maybe triggering off a door sensor to the garden. Maybe heating if I have just an electric heater.

I really want to put one of these in... a 3D printer and a bit of a geek out space - maybe some soft seating maybe a ps5. But mostly I just really want a full sheet cnc machine. one of the original plans was to air condition it, but doing it diy seems a lot harder now as no one wants to sell them anymore. It’s the best way to heat it and the summers are getting more and more intense so a chill out zone would be nice...

Can’t remember what thread I’ve been putting these in but - doors are nearly in - just need some expanding foam around and sealant... hopefully be able to get that done and handles and vents tomorrow and can take a pic without all the tape on. no more crappy leaky tarp.

Any reason you don’t want to build a car as a kit? Doesn’t look that much more expensive and I thought that was half the fun? my friend had a Volvo turbo powered mk which was pretty terrifying to go in.

The way I learnt was to go a decent pace on the flat or very slightly downhill and make sure when you pull up into it you go far enough or too far and control it with the rear brake. Gives you more time finding the balance point. Too low is unrecoverable, too high is not

I always found most head hits are when you get your legs hooked up and fall backwards. So if you go mtb style don’t get a pointy one at the back? I always preferred my Bucky lasek as it was light comfy and never needed replacing (offered enough protection for trials hits)

Buy an absolute shitter in a nice place if you can. You can always make a shit place nice but the other way round is a bit harder.

We were a day from exchange when squatters moved into a house we were trying to buy. We were going to be exchange and complete relatively quickly so had given our notice on our rental... almost ended up homeless and cost us 6-9 months of renting somewhere else before we could try and buy again. It was an absolute steal too. expect the unexpected.

I’d probably add trialskings videos in there, then maybe that coustellier video as that seemed to me to signal a massive shift in the riding style/technique/size. But yeah, another vote for chainspotting and evolve. Pretty much everything good about trials is in there.

I was the same as you, but at one of those weird annual bank review things they signed me up. reality of a credit card is - you are instantly 2 months better off and all that money just goes in the savings. as long as you set it to repay in full it’s just better all round - more secure, better rewards, and better ratings. Just don’t change your spending habits or even think of it as credit/debt. sign up spend only on the credit card for a whole month - you get a bill, due in another months time. Spend for another whole month before you pay the first bill. It’s awesome. Then it’s just normal life with more security.

Loooooolllll at both of you - 140k to go and another 20 ish years to go taking out 5k to send the kid to nursery didn’t help either... still our £600 a month is almost half of what the rent would be on a similar place so not all bad and value is going to be up nearer to 400k from 185k now (which is mental)
