    Which Xc Bike?

Did you look at that Commencal in the link I gave you? My mate's just got a brand new pitch comp for £990, I could ask where from if you're interested? Or not.
  2. Tesco's stuff... I can't taste the difference and it's cheaper

    Which Xc Bike?

Spesh do something called a pitch comp now too - dunno if they're any good, but they're basically a cheap Enduro. Not sure on price though.

    Which Xc Bike?

With the Juicies - I kinda did mean second hand or unused prices. Obviously RRP is more but you can often get them in CRC's sale for £60 each. I've just looked and they're £65 now. Or the other option is Shimano Deores which are just brilliant for the money (£55 on CRC) and all you'll ever need. Both are much better than Hayes IMO - but then I have a bit of an irrational fear of Hayes. Marins are pretty good as far as I can tell... Just that they're not very fashionable. I know that's shallow Similarly, Trek do some nice well-specced bikes that are pretty 'common'. The Giant Reign 3 is a pretty average spec really - especially the forks. No way would I pay £1300, but £800 seems fair. On the other hand, the Reign 1 for £1400 looks A-mazing. You know you want to (Only 16" though - MIGHT be too small. Although on a bike like that you probably want a small-ish frame). The other one to look at are Spesh Enduros - they're really nice, and an 07 in the sales might be the right price but I dunno if you'd find one. Or, I've got a Commencal Meta 5.5 - That's awesome IMO. If you don't mind XL - there's THIS which is what I've got (but mine's large not XL). That's actually a complete bargain! They do a smaller-travel Meta 4 and you can get one of them for £850 (50% off) HERE. It's also a bargain price but it is XL, and only 4" travel.
  5. I wouldn't worry about it unless you've got kiddie porn on there. By the way - RTB means return to base so it's your responsibility to get it to them and back from them. So yeah, I think you'll pay delivery. The good news is that it should definitely all be covered by the warranty.

This isn't a website for you to discuss that sort of thing, I'm sure you know that.

    Which Xc Bike?

IMO HFX-9s aren't great. Soles are much worse, but since you can get a pair of Juicy 5s for around £100, it's not a huge bother. My mate's got a Giant Reign X O and it's such a pimp bike. Lovely. I guess the Reign 3 has a similar suspension design so that's probably good too. The Marin... is a Marin. Can't you get a Reign 2 or something for the price of the Marin?
  8. It depends if you can find a frequency that doesn't have any other stations on it. E.g. I can use 88.0 driving around Manchester and I never get interference. But going driving on the motorway, the radio stations change every few minutes and I get interference and have to retune. Then again, maybe my cheap one isn't as good as proper one in terms of signal strength.
  9. This thread is utterly brilliant The irony of making the swear filter write swearwords is not lost on me
  10. iTrips are OK, but they're quite expensive. I got on off ebay that runs off the cigarette liight and it'll charge the iPod, all for a low low price of a tenner. The whole idea is rubbish though (including the 'official' ones), lots of crackles and retuning the radio all the time. Get a wire if at all possible, much better.
  11. Danny - have you tried those Alpine HUs? If you can, go to Halfords with an iPod and try it out... I tried one about a year ago and the interface was really slow. It might be OK on a nano with only a handful of tracks, but on my 30Gb 5G it was painful trying to skip through all the artists. It starts at A and clicks forward one artist at a time (you can't go back), so if you want something in the second half of the alphabet, you're turning the knob for probably a whole minute, I shit you not. Maybe they've improved it though. I reckon the best plan is just an iPod into the aux leads and just control it off the iPod. Or if you're feeling clever, mount an iPod dock somewhere on the dash and wire that into the stereo. That's my plan
  12. I'm guessing you don't have the right loops/sounds installed on the newer version.
  13. A double back I thought? Either way, he landed on his back/neck and destroyed himself
  14. That's what I was gonna say. They really aren't that different to, say, an Ashton. The main difference is the standover which just takes getting used to. Anyway - looks beast.
  15. That car doesn't say 'boy racer' to me. It says rep in a company car. Which leads to motorway miles (not a bad thing) and general ragging since they don't own it (a bad thing).
  16. 130K is quite a lot. My Polo's done that and it's being a pain in the arse at the moment... And VWs are famed for their reliability. I wouldn't get it, personally.
  17. I bought the WD Mybook Premium. Got no complaints with it, the build quality is better than the normal MyBook. It's a lot more expensive though, but then again the light on the front is blue rather than green
  18. They're mostly the same. Just buy the one that's got the most capacity/looks prettier. Your call.
  19. Same geo as a Zoot (which I already have). So why do I want one?
  20. I concur. Maybe cheap video cameras are more susceptible to wind etc? You need one of those tea cosy things they put on TV mics.
  21. How does it actually hold the bike? And does it topple over?
  22. I don't know that this one actually is CJSkate. Some funny guy who was here a while ago: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/index.php?showuser=16058 Anyway, move along please, nothing to see here.
  23. Pffft. Powerbook 12" and raspberry jam. You know what I'm talking about.
  24. I reckon you just want paint + sand mixed in.
  25. Piss pots are good - they're cheap and indestructible. For trials I think they're a bit better than XC lids as they cover they back of your head more, and they're more resistant to knocks etc. It just depends on whether you like the look or not. If you're that bothered, you could always get something like a Gire Semi-MX or whatever they're called. But they're expensive.
