  1. And yet the majority of people are fine with such rims. I personally think the mavic rims are highly over-rated and although they are relatively strong there's nothing that exceptional about them, plus they're thin and don't allow maggie pads to fit in a lot of the frames that they are used with and i don't like the look of them, i've never been a fan of pyramid shaped rims. If you'd been using your noggin then you should have been able to easily find out what rim he's using. Chris king hub on mavic rim. (Little hint, its in the rider profile thing) I think anzo has said the lot really, if you check your wheel chain and sprockets you should be able to find the cause of it. You might also want to try tightening your rear skewer should you use one, this could let your wheel slip forwards slightly each time you pedal.
  2. You: "ooh i'm so hungry" I go in and buy me conner and ben a burger (i owed them for buying me drinks or something) You: "oh, well you could have bought me one as well, christ" And you sit there and moan while we eat them.
  3. And would increase the chances of the places getting sued because peoeple injured themselves on the specially designed areas.
  4. Second reply, I had doubts within a few minutes! So it was in your lesson and a prank... abuse is called for then! YOU F****NG C**T!! Seriously dude watch where you leave your trials forum!
  5. You'll want something small to get around with say 12 0r 11 tooth, then maximum you'd want really would be 20 tooth for a very easy and slow gear better for technical riding on rocks and things. Then just things like 19,18,17 and some others that you choose to use. My personal gearing ratio is 22 tooth chainring to 18 tooth rear kog. i find this to be a very nice gear for me and it's single speed because i don't like the clutter of gears. Plus as DAB said there's a higher chancce i'd bend/snap a mech hanger with gears on but he was wrong about single speed not sorting it.... fresh products chain tensioner, i icepick stalled on mine and it didn't do a thing... well there's a slight scratch . You'll want a gear ratio along the lines of 22 tooth chain ring and 17,18 or 19 rear kog. Unless you have a smaller chainring like a 20tooth or 18tooth. in which case you'll want a smaller cog like a 16 or 14
  6. Its really good i like it. It is the best new members website i have ever seen. I managed to get the cross fade going on my website in html but it only seems to work in internet explorer and not firefox. I don't really know why but i think the flash approach that you used worked really well. I also liked the quality of the riding pictures, they looked very crisp and clean. If you used the same kind of grammar (i.e. capital letters at the beginning of sentences, commas, full stops etc) on trials forum as you do on your site you would be validated within a couple of days.
  7. These pads are shockingly aweful, on a fresh grind they never gripped and lasted about 20 minutes before i was down to the backing. Don't bother with them!!!
  8. So whinging when nobody would buy you or your mate some burgers from mcdonalds, calling people you only just met gays and stupid fools, then stopping before you'd even got to ride somewhere then shouting abuse as you were riding back to get picked up because you were too lazy to ride back home.... was just "avin some fun"? Your really need to get out more! P.S. pedal hops are not called skippy's!
  9. Shit dude, its fine. In this day and age there's so many gays that nobody's really bothered anymore. One of my good friends turned out to be gay and i'm going to his wedding in august, sounds weird i know but still he's my mate and i wouldn't miss it at all. If this is a lesson time prank though prepare to get abuse!
  10. -your name - Chris Jacques -your location - Leicester, england -your age - 19 -your opinion/ view on the subject, which you can write as much as you want about! -Do people stop and watch you riding? Quite often people stop and watch because trials is generally a very awe-inspiring sport, people often wonder how its possible to do things like that on a bike and are usually always curious about it. -Do they say anything? good / bad? The majority of people will ask how long you've been doing it for, and whether you enter competitions and general things like that. There are some that will want to know more about it like how the bike is specially designed to withstand the abuse and whether or not the things ever go wrong and how rewarding is it to complete something that your trying. There are also the type of people who will go out of their way to try and get you to stop doing something. I've had someone run around a car park after me because i was trying to do static 180's on a car park space line (last thing on a sunday evening so the car park was empty ). There's also always someone that will shout something at you one their way past, this can vary from do a wheelie to get off that f**kin wall you should be old enough to know better. -Do you think we are 'naughty/bad' people for riding in pedestrianized like areas? Not in the slightest, there aren't really any specifically set up places nearby and local rocks and things are too far to ride to frequently. Riding on walls and things in a public place isn't that bad and i won't ever try something if theres a risk of injuring someone walking past... its just considerate to wait till they've gone. however there are some people who will ride on things that they shouldn't do. For example, i don't often ride on areas that have lots of nice flowers on and i NEVER ride on memorials of any kind. But some people just see something they want to ride on and go ahead and do it. But that isn't anything thats solely related to biking is it otherwise there wouldn't be crimes at all, some people steal, some don't its the same with respectful biking. -What makes you want to ride in these areas? They're generally just good fun and present a challenge. Most of the public places i ride in are quite and out of the way anyway because i find it hard to concentrate if theres a lot of people rushing around me. Plus some buildings are just amazingly good to ride because architects want to do something different to make their mark on somewhere and this sort of thing isn't found in a trials or skate park. -Apart from all the 'telling off' you probably get.... does anybody say "wow, thats good!"? Yeah quite a lot. It's mostly younger people (under 16's) who are very interested in it and want to learn how they would be able to start doing it themselves, but then at this age a lot of people are easily influenced. It is always better to get these people interested in it though instead of telling them to get lost because you are potentially drawing them away from a life of chavness and doing drugs as trials helps a lot with self control and discipline. There are quite a few older people in early thirties and late forties who are interested and glad to see that we're outside doing sporting stuff rather than being inside playing on computer games all day and they quite often take a minute to think about what they used to do when they were younger, which sometimes follows with a story for us. Not many old people are interested about it and the majority consider it to be nothing other than complete meaningful vandalism and are under the impression that rubber damages brick walls. But then again, most old people don't have a lot to do and like to feel they can boss younger kids around. But there are still some old people who will congratulate you and say its good... and even one guy knew what it was! Wow, that was pretty much an essay. :$
  11. Ha ha, too true. Mr mark with the reality check for people. I can see why people would get upset but it isn't really something the bbc should be fighting to get rid of is it. I suppose you could say it would de-value them for the children wanting to get one, but i reckon most kids enjoy getting things in the post, would love to have a mention on the tv and like walking around with badges on... so they're still going to send there crap in to the show anyway despite the fact you can buy them on ebay.
  12. Sorry mate but the last time you came riding with local people you acted like a completely spoilt child and ended up going home because you couldn't be bothered to ride to the local riding places. I mean telling people there gay and shouting abuse at them as you ride off isn't very cool is it? Needless to say i don't think many local people will be wanting to go riding with you anytime soon.
  13. I thought it was alright, she seems to have a lot of control over the bike. I just think she needs to give it some, a lot of the stuff she does is relatively small and i think it would really increase her level of riding if she was to keep on going at something thats bigger than she can do... after a while she will manage it and will get the hang of riding something like it and it'll make all the stuff she's doing now seem a load easier as well.
  14. Looking very nice mate, rides very very nicely as well, especially now it has a lower bearing race in your headset!
  15. How on earth are you going to go about fitting them in the microwave? Microwaves are like what a foot and a half wide... 26 inch wheels... you seeing a problem yet? I think these "people" you've been talking to have been pulling your leg!
  16. I did this to my thumb a few years back when i was lifting a steel pole, i dropped it and it caught my thumbnail and ripped it off pretty much. Quick fix = superglue... puts the nail back on and seals it up so no nasties can get in. Just live with the constant stinging for like 3 hours... after that you'll get used so won't feel it as much, just a warm numbness really. It'll let you be riding within like a day maybe 2. Eventually you'll have new nail grow and it'll push the old one off after about 3 months. Just thought i should edit and say i accept no resposnsibility for anything that might occur after using superglue to fix yourself, i mean most of you people will be kids and you do stupid things at your own risk

    Rear Mech

Ha ha, i did that for him.... shortly before he snapped the syringe on my bleed kit the b*****d!
  18. Tension it upwards!! go on you know you want to. Either that or clamp your rear wheel like a b*****d, seems to have kept mine in the same place even wghen i land on it.
  19. It would be awesome if you guys could make it, i think the general idea is meet at the train station at about 11.00. should be a few of us going now as well.

    Crap Pads!

Manonamission is completely right, trials-uk don't sell plazmatic pads so i am very doubtful that you will have got spanish fly pads. Yeah send them back, they've broken... you would send a hope hub back if the ratchet was dead in such a short time. Whats the worst they can say?
  21. Right then lets make it official, there's gonna be a bunch of us going riding in leicester on saturday so lets try and see if we can get as many people down there as we can... this place is going to be the new notts once everyone see's how good it is.
  22. There, marks got it in one. It doesn't have more engagement points it spins round faster. Engagement points are points inside the hub where the pawls engage. If you knew how hubs work then you would know you don't atually get more engagement points at all, it just spins round faster in relastion to your cranks so feels like theres more.
  23. Thats why they're specially designed to be run with a disc. But yes discs do apply a lot of force to the lower part of the leg just above the disc mount and in forks that aren't really intended for super powerful trials use brakes then they can crack and snap.
