And faster than expected, nice (Y)

Forgot I hadn't posted my latest creation in here...

Now with different tyres and a more "winter in the North of England usable" setup from the original build...

It bloody flies too - latest ride this weekend was a smidge over 50 miles, at 9.5mph average, with 6700ft of climbing, even in the winter slop. Mad.

Thanks dudes!

The tubing is 631 head tube, 853 top (20x30mm flat, 0.8-0.5-0.8, flattened from a round 25.4mm tube), down (DZB, 38mm, 0.8-0.5-0.8-1.1) and seat tubes, with Columbus stays and Columbus 44mm head tube used as a BB shell.

What would I have done differently.... hmm. That's a really good question! I know it is easy to say 'nothing', but with this being the 3rd iteration of a similar type of frame / bike, and the other two having had niggles I seem to have ironed out with this one, I am struggling to think of something I would change. Perhaps I would add some head tube gussets for long-term peace of mind.

Frame weight with paint (which only weighed 26g!) was 1.983kg. Bike in 'full winter mode' is a hair under 10kg. Just over 8.5kg with the rigid forks and mudguards removed.

Beautiful build. well done!

Just checked out the bike forum thread. Really cool to see all process. Its always so nice to see people building bike in their own way. I've also dug into broadies videos! They're really good. Specially the alignment series. such simple way to do and to get measurement that make sense in the real world. .

Are you planing on building more and getting some tooling like a jig and so on?

Inspired by AdamR28s post I also would like to share one of my recent builds. Its a called Vetra Chimera and its gravel bike with a classic silloutte, upright position and wide tire clearance, got some vintage parts on it. Its a bike made for long hours on the saddle and to take lots of weight around. Its a custom frame made with fillet brazed columbus tubing, custom stem and custom graphics. It took me around a month to make it, do the decals, mask and paint it.

Haven't been able to get out much this winter. -10c is about as cold as I'm willing to go for safety reasons, it's been way colder than that most mornings, -30c being the coldest this winter season, it's been a rough one. When it does warm up it's usually snowing making it almost impossible to ride even with 4" tires. But this was one of the rare days where it warmed up and wasn't snowing too hard.

That is beautiful work! You must be doing this commercially...?

Thank you! Yes, it started as non commercial, just for pleasure but its getting up to speed this last year. Done a couple more models if you want to check vetrabikes. Still in the early stages but it has been a hell lot of fun.

Also got this little guy done a while back has a tryout. Kinda of a 00's trials geo with a steep HTa. Not so keen on the steep HTa so I might just slacken from 73.5 to 71 next months.

New bike day!

Picked up this beautiful Pace. Really nice spec.

Short travel 29er is the perfect set up for my neck of the woods. Can’t wait for some laps.

Best tuck the derailleur cable in boy, you'll catch that on a trip wire.

I have many nuggets on the go :P You seemed so stoked with your bike build (and rightly so) I didn't feel it was my place to turn the conversation around onto something of mine.

This won't be experiencing the MX5, no way it's going inside and my bike rack won't fit it. I'm selling the MX5 to get a van anyway

Fatbikes are amazing. They're kind of bad at everything but they're just so goofy and fun, I had to steal the derailleur off my hardtail to fix my fatbike. Turns out the derailleur I got with my fatbike was defective. So I was without a trail bike all last year, ended up putting a dropper no the fatbike and rode the trails on that. Had a great time!

Obviously tire pressure is everything. I've ridden my fatbike at 4psi on groomed snow covered trails and at 30psi for gravel trails. The hardest thing to get used to is how they autosteer when you get going fast.

Best thing about them is how amazing they are whenever you need grip, whether that's going up wet rocks on a techy trail, going through mud, even sand. And for someone like he who's never been able to afford a full suspension bike, the volume of the tires are great for absorbing the small stuff.

After picking up a 'proper' gravel frameset, my Inbred frame was spare again so I chucked some parts at it. Bars are off a motocross bike I had and they have a decent amount of backsweep, inboard bar ends feel like riding in the hoods on my road/gravel bikes and the 650b wheels feel pretty good in a 26" frame. The carbon Toseek forks are like wet spaghetti, super comfy but I'm a bit worried they are just going to snap so I'll probably ditch them in favour of my kinesis aluminium fork. I took it out for a gentle spin with my father inlaw and it feels really good, I'm looking forward to taking it out on some of the local trails and seeing how it performs then, it feels like a big bmx and very playful
