  1. what's a normal trials bike? 26"?
  2. i'm not really qualified to speak on the ups and downs, but i run 170mm ones on my mod too. no problems & i like them. i chose the longer ones, because i like to ride a pretty high gearing.
  3. is Schwabble Doc Blue tyre sealant as good as Stan's? i could get stan's, but the Schwalbe stuff is easier/cheaper to order here.
  4. i've never bled my brakes on the bike, always in the sink. it takes a little getting used to something other than the old magura routine (finger on one hole, push lever and then the other way), but it's ok. it's just finger on hose instead
  5. really like mine. i only had it for two weeks though. the bleed system is a bit weird, but i managed to water bath bleed it just fine. blade is way more comfy than the 2014 magura lever i had before.
  6. Ali the Trials-Confucius.
  7. i think i'd just tape over the rim tape. i'm not concerned about a few half-grams. thanks, ali! i might give it a try in a few weeks.
  8. kinda would like to try this. (mod with drilled rims though). i run rather high psi because i get punctures a lot at lower pressures and i hate that. in the vlog episode after the tubeless one, ali says he changed the setup: a ghetto TL with a split inner tube that's glued to the tyre (no more foam, i think) @Ali C what kind of glue did you use? a split inner tube setup would take care of the drilled rims. is there any other reason tubeless would not work with jitsie rim and monty eagle claw prorace? the bead maybe? or porous tyre?
  9. so you are the reason why Magura keep thinking that yellow is an acceptable color for brakes!
  10. weren't your tutorials a bit of a go at vlogging? (i liked them btw. would watch it if there were more) only vlog i ever (occasionally) watched is ali's. thing with vlogs is, if i don't know you or know beforehand that you're really competent at something, i won't watch you talking on youtube, period. so for me, watching a vlog has a pretty high threshold. for unknown riders, i might watch a few minutes of a riding video. but i definitely won't watch a vlog. even if an intro is too long/ there are too many jokes, i will start skipping forward.
  11. i usually like his stuff, but those clown-wheelies ruin everything.
  12. haha, watching this totally depressed me too. he got in a week like 10x better than me in 3 years. (i comforted myself by imagining he has some bmx-background)

    Funny Bail

Hoodie over helmet is a new one for me. occasionally i go hoodie under helmet, but that's as far as i go.
  14. usually i try to ride for half an hour to an hour first thing in the morning. the first 15 minutes take a lot of willpower. afterwards it's fine.
  15. is this not a case of you overthinking things horribly? i always use a standard (small) allen key, some grease and get the screws as tight as i can using my fingers. worked every time, never had to think about it for a second. (i do check after the first few rides, though) (in-before-smarypants-edit: it's a torx key, but same size as a small allen)

bike looks like a christmas bauble
  17. i'm not sure, but i think what you calculate here is only half the scenario: if you know the sex of the first child, what's the chances of the sex of the second child - which would be 50/50 (and a boring riddle) maybe it helps if you re-phrase the original problem like this: the parents have 50/50 chances of having either same-sex children (boyboy, girlgirl) or mixed-sex children (boygirl, girlboy). knowing that one child is male takes only one option off the table (the girlgirl one), which takes away half the chance of them having same-sex children.
  18. it is not the same in this context, isn't it? you only know one is a boy, not which one it is. with boy/boy the one you know about could be either one, in boy/girl you know about the first one, in girl/boy you know about the second one.
  19. ha! totally by chance i just listened to the same radio show. ("infinite monkey cage" bbc3) and this is actually the correct explanation ( with a little addition in brackets) the 50/50 explanation does not include that piece of knowledge you already have ( "one is a boy" )
  20. couldn't the answer for 1/3 go something like this: 1 boy is present, so girl+girl is off the table. that leaves you with 3 options: girl+boy, boy+girl, boy+boy each one has a probability of 1/3, so you'd end up with a 2/3 chance for mixed genders and 1/3 for equal.
  21. why does no one have any compassion with niconj? he obviously suffers from a pathological compulsion to escalate things.
  22. it's all pieces from his old videos, rearranged into a longer one. superb riding as always. mod-stuff is way more interesting than 24!
  23. i'm asking because i'm not really sure about that new lockring system. guess you just confirmed that one would need a spacer because the single cog is narrower than the FW. btw. if you at tarty are ever stuck with a pair of those without a FFW (return or whatever), consider me interested.
  24. can the new trialtech cranks be used with a fixed cog or do they work with FFW only?
